There are 2 hot tubs on Serenity deck 14. We were on the Freedom this past December. The hot tubs didn't get very warm then, hopefully that has changed. If you get there fairly early in the day, you could potentially have the hot tub to yourself for awhile. We noticed they didn't get busy until later in the day.

Yeah, actually, I remember that from other Carnival cruises (other ships). Lukewarm, at best... hopefully better this time. I seem to recall the aft tubs were warmer. None *hot*.

  2. Planning on taking bus #10 to Saunders Beach on my own. Is this okay to do solo, and any thoughts in general on that plan? Dislike crowds, don't care about drinking, and I can handle sitting 'on' the beach for a while. Just want to sit by the water, maybe bob around in it a bit. 1-2 hours is my max. 🙂

  3. Traveling solo with only a daypack for a 4-night sailing on Freedom. In the past, carried on a 12-pack of Diet Coke, but don't need that much for such a short trip. Carnival guidelines say soda now must be "in a carry-on" - can I carry-on 6 sodas in my roll-up pool/beach bag (separate from the daypack)? Thanks.

Yeah, can't say how much one would be.  If I remember right, it was two loungers, an umbrella and a little cabana area with table and two chairs for $25.  They set up the loungers and umbrella where we wanted.  We didn't haggle, but I believe others have reported doing so and getting them a bit cheaper, depending on how busy it is.  We didn't use the cabana much at all, since we decided not to eat there.

    Thanks for your reply. 🙂

We were there in February and really enjoyed it.  It's a fairly easy walk, and we got a couple of chairs and an umbrella for a decent price.  Good deals on local beer, though food seemed a bit expensive.  We had heard rumors of aggressive vendors but did not see that at all.  In fact, there was a noticeable security presence.

What is 'chair & umbrella' for a decent price? I'll be solo as well, so not inclined to pay for two of anything... which you may or may not be able to lend insight on. 🙂

  6. Looking at hotels near MCO, prefer one with a shuttle to/from airport so I can get transfer next day to Canaveral. I'm reading the small print, and on at least a couple websites, these 'airport area' hotels *still* say 'shuttles stopped due to Covid'... Is this true, or are they again shuttling MCO-hotel-MCO, and the info is just out of date? Thanks.

  7. I did this 10 years ago, and am going again in a week (yay!). Had a great experience last time and expect the same this time. Beautiful area, smaller group, quiet, away from the crowds with very good snorkeling, as I recall. Highly recommended.

  8. From my perspective, all cruise line excursions are too crowded - and more expensive than booking on my own.

For Grand Cayman, highly recommend Stingray Sailing. You can read plenty of great reviews here and on Trip Advisor. Beautiful catamaran, never crowded, Chip and crew always provide a superior experience. If you book this, please tell them Peg recommended. 🙂

Yea as said you won't even be touching the money on your sail and sign account unless you specifically do that. Your casino account is separate from your sail and sign... just the same card. Think of your atm card when you go the atm you select checking or savings. When you put your card in a slot machine you can either put in cash or if you had money left in casino money you can deposit that on your machine or if you need money you can charge your sail n sign account. (I try to NOT do this as can add up fast lol). What ever is left before you change machines goes back on card to casino bank. You can not even transfer it to your sail n sign account unless you cash out and than go to guest services.

Yes, definitely agree about using the S&S account - funds go really fast that way. 🙄

Thanks again for everyone's input. 🙂

Ok good luck! On one cruise my wife hit it big an won enough for another cruise but since then...

I won $1250 once - that's as big as I've hit on a ship. As a general rule, the winners are either the guy in the seat next to me, or the machine I just left. 😉

    Hi

I think you are misunderstanding this.

When you are playing on the slot machines, you are actually setting up a completely separate account, funded by your on board account. You are using your S&S card to do this, but you can only charge/transfer money from your shipboard account to your casino account. You can't send money the other way. The money in your casino account doesn't go back to your S&S account at any time. You are required to cash out before the end of the cruise. There is no benefit to cashing out each day if you intend to play any more at a later time. If you are unable to cash out, you will receive a check for any monies left in your casino account. This will take several weeks. If the amount is less than (I believe) $5, it is forwarded to the St. Jude Children's research.

Of course if you are playing at the tables, you have chips and it is up to you when you cash those in. The same applies, if you intend to play some more, there is no benefit to cash them in everyday, it just might be convenient for you.

    have a great cruise

Thanks. I'm really not a newbie at this, but it's been a while, and I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to keep the cash deposit I'll make upon boarding separate from gambling funds. I will bring cash (X amount/day) for gambling, and don't want to spend more than that each day. With moving to different machines and knowing how funds go in/out (of whatever account), there must be a way to ensure I'm not using that $200 deposit. Do I have to keep a running total on a calculator, based on the amount I walked in with? Surely there is a way to keep it separate...?  😄

Yes you can cash out as often as you wish.  Good luck we had a great time on the Legend.

Thanks - my second time on this itinerary, but it's been 10 years. I see you were just on the ship - any other tips, cautions, etc.? 🙂

As I recall, any funds remaining at the end of playing a given slot machine automatically go onto my S&S. Do I just ask the cashier to give me a certain amount of cash against that, or...? I know I have to keep a certain amount available for on-board expenses, etc.

    Thanks!

  13. Going on the Legend very soon. I take a certain amount of cash specifically for gambling, and prefer any 'winnings' - or whatever's left from that day's play funds 🙂 - not be put on my S&S card/account. Can I cash out each day at the casino cashier, or...? Any insights appreciated. Thanks.

Hi! I did this tour and didn't during my sailing earlier this month.

Unfortunately I did a rookie mistake on my tour start time.  I fail to adjust for daylight saving time.

Don't feel bad. I did the same thing in Cayman once. 🙂 Sounds like you made the best of it. Is that "intel" something you can share?

  15. Hi. I'm looking for feedback, comments, etc., on the Coz Street Art Tour. No reviews yet on Trip Advisor (https://www.tripadvisor.com/AttractionProductReview-g150809-d17797191-Cozumel_Street_Art_Tour-Cozumel_Yucatan_Peninsula.html)

    Other questions:

    * Sailing out of Florida in January. If a local tour starts at 9 am, am I correct that that is 10 am ship time?

    * Distance / cab fare from Carnival port to downtown? I seem to recall it's about a mile, but been a while since I've been there...

    Thanks for any input.

(ship cal below is wrong; we sail 1/5! 🙂 )

I did the Cozumel food tour last December solo.  The tour is small, there were only five of us with a guide and driver.  We made several good stops which everything was delicious.  The price is reasonable and its not an all day tour.

You also have the Cozumel photo tour.  Same thing, small group reasonable price.

Heading to Cozumel next month and trying the street art tour.

    I hope this helps

Interested in the street art tour in Coz. No reviews yet on TA. What did you think?
