  1. I have only been on one cruise and it was on the Disney Magic 22 years ago. It was a great cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. My adult disabled son who loves Disney as much as I do wants to go on a Disney cruise. At the time of our previous cruise he was not able to go. I was wondering how many times the Disney Magic has been refurbished over the years. On the cruise we took Beauty and the Beast was the show I believe at Animator's Palace. He is not into all of the Marvel characters/Super Hereos stuff. He prefers the older Disney characters and movies such as 101 Dalmations,Little Mermain,Cinderella etc. We are going on the Carnival Mardi Gras in a couple of weeks and it will be his first cruise. I would like to start planning the Disney cruise even if it's only a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas due to the cost. We will be sailing out of Port Canaveral but I am also about 2.5 hrs from New Orleans. What ship do you think would best suit his tastes? He is challenged and functions much more like a 10-12 year old.
  2. Thanks everyone for the many different responses. I think we will play with no expectations. My son loves the show he is 37 and has special needs. He will get a kick out of trying to win something.
  3. Since I am planning on other cruises Alaska etc I will probably apply for a passport. I don’t have enough time now due to prices so g times.
  4. I have only been on one cruise 23 years ago. I don’t normally travel outside the USA. Most of our vacations we drive where we are going. I have t seen the need for a passport .
  5. Thank you for all of the replies. We live in the USA.
  6. Has anyone played and if so did you win anything? Is it worth the price in your opinion?
  7. My drivers license and social security card were changed when I got married many years ago. We divorced several years later and I kept my married name so that I would have the same last name as our children. My birth certificate has my maiden name. I do not have the marriage license but do have a copy of the divorce papers. Do I need to take the divorce decree with me or get a copy of the original marriage license to prove the name change? We are sailing out of Port Canaveral to the Bahamas.
  8. Thanks I did call the Carnival and made them aware. Are you talking about Carnival or a specialty rental company? I do need to get a really good insulated lunch tote so I can take his insulin on the excursion.
  9. Where would I find the deck plans to see what is underneath our cabin? I'm hoping it's not above any of the really loud areas. Has anyone stayed in this cabin if so how was it?

  11. I know that Carnival is no longer requiring the Vaccine before boarding. In case that changes for some reason what is considered fully vaccinated? My son and I have received the first (2) vaccines plus the 1st booster that came along. We have not gotten any of the other boosters.
  12. We are sailing on Mardia Gras 9/10/23 for six nights. We booked an excursion to Ocean World/Dolphin Experience. I need to keep my son's insulin cold so we can take it with us. I read that there are lockers available and am planning on storing the cooler in the locker. I want to make sure the insulin stays cool enough so I would like recommendations. Does the stateroom mini-fridge stay as cold as a regular refrigerator?
  13. We are sailing to the Bahamas from Port Caniveral in September. Does anyone know if a regular drivers license will still be accepted? We will have our birth certificates but have not gotten the new Real ID with the star yet.
  14. We will be cruising as a large family group about 15 people. We have a family plan with T-Mobile. I don't believe T-Mobile has any service in the Bahamas. I don't want my disabled son to be able to make any calls back to the states. I do however want to be able to use Facebook Messenger to check in with other household members back home. Does one of the media packages allow this or would I just be able to text/messenger other family members on the cruise? My mom is also going to want to send texts or messages to her sister since she will not be going off the ship at one of the ports. If one person in the cabin has social media does everyone else have to have it as well?
  15. Thank you for all the suggestions. I do have legal guardianship etc but did not think about taking the paperwork with us so thank you for pointing that out. I don't think he will wander off but can never know for sure.
  16. If I buy the social media package would I be able to send messages to other family members not sailing with using Facebook Messenger? We have I-Phones. I want to check in once in a while. We have a huge family plan with T-Mobile and I don't think they have coverage in the Bahamas. I don't want to end up with unexpected charges on my phone bill.
  17. Hi, we are going on a six day cruise. This is only my 2nd cruise with the first one being 20 years ago on Disney Magic. My son is 37 and is challenged as well as being a Type 1 Diabetic. He has never sailed so I don't know if he is prone to sea sickness. I am a little concerned in case he does get sick and can't keep anything down. How are the ships Medical facilities? Do they usually have experience with diabetic emergencies? Due to his disability he has never learned to read beyond simple sight words. His attention span is just not there. He is impulsive to a degree and if he decided to go out of the cabin without family and got lost is there a way to overhead page him. I would never find him on a ship this size. In regards to my mother she is 82 and a 3 time cancer survivor. She gets out of breath if walking too far. Are there any wheelchairs available on the ship to rent? I'm mostly concerned about the long walk from the ship into the port where the shopping is etc. If she stays on the ship and does not go with us are the movies free in the cabin or are they all pay per view? I'm sorry for all the questions but as mentioned we have not cruised in 20 years.
