  1. I was on this cruise and agree with most of the OP’s post. I did not like the magician at all, but OP missed the last night’s entertainer, Steve Carte - he was fantastically funny.

As a Diamond member I was more than happy with what was offered. Drinks were in Vintage, a lovely venue and we had our own restaurant for breakfast. Proper coffee (lattes and cappuccinos) were available free of charge all day. I can’t imagine why anyone would complain.

I booked I Fly and North Star prior to boarding and was charged $29 and $20 respectively per person. A fellow guest mentioned he was not charged so I enquired at guest services. I was told the Activities Manager should have arranged a refund! To be fair it was then refunded but if I had not enquired nothing would have been done.

We were allocated 5pm dining but went at 7.45. The restaurant was never full and apart from asking and noting our cabin number (why?) that was fine. Food was underwhelming but ok I suppose.

There are definite cultural differences which really stood out on this cruise.

  2. You know Australians can book with Celebrity and RCL in the US. Contact any of the big agencies. Have to factor in taxes (which are add ons in the US) plus foreign currency conversion. We have a card which does not charge foreign currency conversion fees (this can incur a 3% fee with some banks) and it works for us every time.

Hey Kobecat.....Often think of you and your friends on our Egypt cruise. We're the ones who had to pretend to be Aussies as Americans weren't too welcome during that time. It was a fabulous trip and we hope we'll run into you guys again someday.

What a great time we had! Especially the return trip from Cairo to Alexandria. [emoji15] we still talk about that one. We've done lots more Celebrity (and other) cruises since then but have never seen you. I'll keep looking.

  4. I disagree that Celebrity does enough to inform potential passengers of visa requirements. I will contrast Celebrity’s uncaring, unhelpful process with Oceania. We booked a Baltic cruise for June 2016 on the Marina. There were continual notices when booking excursions (no visa needed if you stay onboard the ship) regarding the difficulties of getting a visa unless we let Oceania do the job for us. In the end we went w a third-party tour group (SPG tours) and they handled the visas for us. But we knew in advance because Oceania had multiple notices.

I will cruise again w Celebrity, but they are not setting the standard for customer care!

That doesn't sound like Oceania was looking after you. They were giving you incorrect information that you needed to do their tour if you didn't want the difficulty of getting a visa.

  6. I did not try the ifly so I can't say anything.

it's what the price list say but i guess if you were the only one that play the Ifly in the time slot (one on one teaching?) you could fly longer...

the above is based on our 7.95 bumper car experience ( it seems no one want to pay for bumping around(only 4 people in the game) and we thought that we play longer that 3-4 mins)

sorry that I speak/write horrible English, please let me know if you are not sure about the words i use/write.

I understand perfectly, thank you so much.

  7. Which cruise are you on?

We book all our Celebrity cruises in the US (we are from Perth). Pricing is 99% of the time cheaper (taking foreign currency exchange etc into consideration). Price drops prior to final payment (unless conditions state otherwise - ie for new bookings only) are as simple as emailing the agent we use. Never been knocked back.
