  1. We did whale watching in Icy Straight (July 2023) and saw orcas, humpbacks and then along the shoreline after the trip a whale breached bubble feeding ( didn't get the mouth open feeding but got him/her travelling down the shore on the video) I would do a trip there, it is very commercialised so not somewhere I'd walk around all day. Hope you enjoy! whale.mp4
  2. Oh my gosh, what a trip that was! Bit late posting but as a Brit visiting Alaska for the first time seeing Orcas, Humpbacks, a black bear, bald eagles, seals, and then to top it off we were walking down Icy Straight shoreline and a humpback whale breached whilst bubble feeding (wasn't quick enough to film the feeding but caught him/her along the shoreline) just WOW! Took a helicopter up to Mendenhall Glacier and saw the Marjorie Glacier calve in Glacier Bay. Not to mention the weather was 25 degrees every day! I'm platinum Princess and will stay with them, just loved every minute, met some lovely people from Canada and the US. The trips we took were all with the ship and were expensive but every single one exceeded expectations. Cannot recommend enough. Amongst the lovely people we met whom we had dinner with on several nights was a married couple, both in their 90s called John (ex military) and Kathleen (she was getting groceries in Dallas when JFK was shot and witnessed the mayhem that day!) and Kathleen gave me her email address but I cannot find it, so if you're reading this please reply, I know it's unlikely but you never know and sending my best wishes to you both. 20230710_123312.mp4 whale.mp4
  3. Hi all, travelling from the UK 4th July, first time to Alaska and I'm wondering what clothes to pack. Have a few tours booked so I'm guessing warm clothing for those but onboard ship in the day what would the weather likely be like, do I take summer clothes? Previous Med cruises with Princess have been smart casual at night and even formal nights were less formal than I envisaged so is this the same for Alaska? Thanks in advance.
