  1. it's coffee coffee happy happy! We sailed the Jade in January it was our first NCL cruise. We had a blast! I agree with the magic show it was hokey but still fun. We loved the bands, danced a lot and just had a great time. We have decided to sail NCL again next January though not on the Jade. I also agree with the breakfasts, not my favorite meal of the day and so much the same every day. All in all it was one of the more fun cruises we have had in a while

  2. We are new to NCL we have been wanting to try freestyle for a while we would like to get away from the formal dining on CCL and RCCL after 10 cruises it's not all that cool and all ports are fly to ports for us. When my DH saw the promo for the UBP we decided to jump on it. The cost of the cheers package on Carnival for the 2 of us is the same as another cruise fare. We are taking a trial run on the Jade in Jan. If we like it we will be booking more.

  3. Royal has dance classes, cooking classes, towel folding, pool activities. The daily is full of things to do carnival not so much. My husband and I like to dance to bands carnival is a little better for that and the bands play longer at night

  4. I haven't spent as much time in Northern Cali as I have south the temps will be cool but still pleasant, but I am coming from Utah where it is usually below 0 in January. San Fran will be in the 50's it is very pretty up north much more forest to see. If you go as far as lake Tahoe it will be parka weather and there will be snow, but it is gorgeous. If you go south you have all the theme parks plus 6 flags. It is about an hour and a half to San Diego there you have SeaWorld and Balboa park. I love going there. You could keep yourself very busy with a land vacation to California. We love to go to Disney for the Christmas Season the decorations are amazing and the weather is usually in the 60's.

  5. We did this on our Breeze cruise last year it was great. We are not huge drinkers but we still averaged about 8 drinks a day. Sea days we drank more and on one of the port days we drank very little but it all averaged out. I like wine mostly but it was nice to try a few mixed drinks that I would have passed on otherwise. We also had onboard credit that we used for part of the package so it was very economical. We will do it again on our cruise on the Magic in August.
