  1. Disembarked Ovation a week ago (Caribbean cruise ).  Plenty of men wearing nice golf shirts in Colonade and Earth and Ocean at night.  And if you choose not to bring a sport jacket or suit for formal nights, you can feel comfortable wearing a button down shirt in these 2 restaurants plus Sushi and Solis.

Boarding and disembarkation were handled beautifully.  Also check out the area on deck 5 aft.  A small pool, 2 hot tubs and seating in sun and shade.  Also a lot quieter than main pool deck.

It's a great ship and experience!  Enjoy.

  2. DH and I have many Retreat sailings under our belt.  Another on Connie coming up Jan 3rd.  Tried YC for 4 days on the Seashore this month as an experiment.  Decided its one and done.  Physical spaces in YC were spacious and lovely, including cabin.  Better than on Celebrity M & S class ships.  But the YC  food was not well prepared or of good quality.  Staff tried hard but training was lacking.  EX:  Asked for ketchup to go with burger on embarkation day lunch - never came.  Served pancakes on YC pool deck at breakfast, but requested syrup showed up 15 minutes later.  One server in lounge barely understood English.  All about training and management's failure to do so.

The YC enclave is very nice, but leaving it and entering the rest of the ship is a wild experience.  Including the elevators, loud pumping/vibrating music and visual and sensory overload.

On Celebrity we enjoy the whole ship.  Not so on the Seashore.

Our flights is around 1145am.  I guess my questions would be do we need to make reservations for these buses, how do we identify them (big or small buses), are there signs pointed to it, how often do they run,..so they have the same service going to the cruise port?  Is there a company name .. sorry just listing them as I think of the questions..lol

Consider booking a later flight.  Tampa is often fogged in this time of year.  Our cruise in early Feb and another in late Jan was delayed from docking for several hours.

  4. Currently on Constellation.  Future cruise desks have been packed the whole trip.  This should tell CC readers that the current passengers are happy with their cruise experience.  And I suspect their happy enough with the food whatever their cabin and dining room is.   Crew has been terrific.  Overall a very enjoyable cruise in an almost full ship.

  5. Thank you both for replying.  Didn't know if I had to log in and initiate a time slot.

So long since we sailed on Seabourn and so much has changed about sailing protocols.

But excited to be back on board a Seabourn ship .

  6. Tried to find this in previous posts but no luck.  How/when do you get a boarding time slot?   Last time we traveled on SB you just showed up.

    (Many years ago).

We will be embarking in Dover, UK in May.

    Thank you.

I purchased an excursion and wanted to pay with obc, my mistake when I put the amount in I did not see the little button to apply credit, so it charged my cc.
Best way to correct this?  Should I cancel the excursion and rebuy it with the credit? Then Will Celebrity take the first one off my cc?
🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ never saw that little button?  Thank you for any suggestions or help.

When we've made this mistake (more than once) we corrected it by canceling the excursion and then rebooting using OBC credits.  Not a problem canceling out any CC charges.

I will be spending some quality time reading your live post.  Thanks for the pointer.

Have you looked at a new cruise luxury  cruise line.... Explora Journeys.  On offshoot of MSC.  It looks very interesting and priced right for now.

Sailed SS many times but having to get dressed up (men wearing at least  sport jacket) on most nights got old for us.  Passengers were as friendly and comfortable as any other cruise line.  Haven't sailed with SS in a few years. I'm sure it's still great customer service and nice cabins

  9. Thanks for the suggestions about venues for pre-dinner drinks and info about The Source.  Will download and play around. Skybluewaters I see that you are a previous Crystsl Cruiser.  It was my favorite lime.  Hoping we enjoy Seabourn as much.

I started this thread thinking there might be a thread for new Seabourn Cruisers.  I'll just have to have fun poking around the board.

    Thank you.

  10. Hello,

We sailed SB several years ago and loved it.  But likely things have changed.  What tips would you give a new SB guest.  Anything we should do prior to cruise (Ovation - May 2023).  I Did make a reservation at TK Grill after reading posts.  What else?  Any suggestions about venues and activities to to engage in?  What is the Source?  Anything I should know specific to the Ovation?

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

  11. Will be sailing in January in a Royal Suite.  Can we invite friends (not in suites) to join us for dinner or lunch in our cabin since we'll have a proper table.

Can they occasionally join us in Luminae?  Understand there is a fee for non suites guests for Luminae.

Delighted to hear you made it home.   I was reading on the other thread of not being able to upload your Recovery Certificate.    Couple questions?   Don't recall if both of you tested positive.

We both tested positive about 24 hours apart and tested negative pretty quickly.   No Symptoms at all

Did you get your Recovery Certificate Online or did you go to a clinic?

Was their any problems with it at the airport?

Any pitfalls or advise you can send our way.   We won't be flying home for another 10 days or so.

    Jim,

We developed Covid symptoms   just after leaving Silhouette on 4/21.  Proctored tests on 4/25 and 4/26 confirmed +.   Was able to get Certificate of Recovery from "Corona Test Centre" after 7 days from positive test.  Applied and received online.  Was accepted at the airport when we flew back to US on May 4th.  Just couldn't be uploaded in advance to Verifly app used by Aer Lingus.  But no problem showing doc at airport.

So glad to finally get home a week later than planned.

  13. I know cruisers are trying to balance being safe and enjoying themselves.  We are on board now and wear our masks in busy areas like on deck 5 shops and coffee shops, elevators, theatre or anywhere alot of people congregate.  We are not as social as we might be normally.  But we are really enjoying the cruise.  Luminae table spacing is great.  And we are lucky the ship is only 40% populated.  Crew is constantly cleaning rails, surfaces public areas.  More than I've ever seen previously.  Just like at home, you make personal decisions about being careful and steps you wish to take and adjust as needed.

Good luck to those continuing on to new places and those who are going home.

  14. Hello SS cruisers.  It's been several years since we cruised with SS.   (Before they were part of RCL).

We'll be on the Whisper in July and wondering what might have changed from 5 years ago.

How do you get luggage tags?  Assume no more special boxes arriving from Italy.

We arrive in Iceland early a.m. on embarkation day.  And  using  SS Air.  Is it likely they will have a lounge available until we are transported to the ship?

Any tips about SS cruising is appreciated.

Can't wait to board and enjoy the ship and journey.

Interesting discussion.   We too have way more OBC than we can spend on a transatlantic trip.  Quite a bit of the OBC is provided by Amex so assume it's refundable from what I learned here.

How do you identify and assign purchases, etc to the nonrefundable OBC?  Or does accounting automatically draw down the nonrefundable OBC first?  If I read a previous post correctly refundable OBC are credited back to the credit card on file.  This forum us an amazing resource.  Thank you.

OBC is applied to your shipboard account as credits which can be identified by OBN and OBR.   If you have a balance on your shipboard account at the end of the sailing you will be refunded that amount up to the OBR amount any balance above that would be forfeited.

I usually let it just go back to my credit card but you can get it in cash from Guest Relations the last night of the cruise.  Some people do this to keep the credit card points from being reversed by the credit card from the credit.

Thank you for your replies.  Really helpful.   Happy new year to all.

  17. We've done 2 trips on French Country Waterways.  They travel on the canals of France in small barges 8-12 guests. Phenomenol food and wines and service.  The canals are not subject to water level variations that the river cruises need to deal with.  These trips are as wonderful as Seabourn and Crystal but in a more intimate way.

    Happy to answer questions.
