  1. Hi Graham.....So sorry about your friend. So happy about your marriage. There is great sadness but there is also great Joy.

I have to say that out of all the cruises I have been on, YOU are the only CD that I remember. Even more impressive is that YOU are the only CD that my hubby remembers too. Yes I am getting older but not that old (not much older than you, course nobody would EVER believe I was older than you;)) It is just that no other CD ever really impressed me. I had the best time on my last cruise this past nov/dec. It was the first time I had ever been to the Love and Marriage show, I loved it. I was just sorry you didn't pick my parents. They've been married 56 years (unfortunately there was a couple married 65 years, &%##$#) I know my parents would be a hoot as my mom is a little hard of hearing but instead of admitting it, she usually answers questions that she thinks she heard. No doubt they would probably lose because of it but it would be funny. ANYWAY, dear hubby and I will be back on December 9 and if I can get my parents back on the ship...you better pick them or or or ..something. Am I talking too much? get used to it you will be a husband soon enough. Oh one more thing, on our last cruise which ended dec 4 2011, you said you were getting off the ship also to go on your vacation and said you were looking for a place in orlando. Did you ever get it? Cause sometimes when we go to disney we like to stay overnight. And as they say, cheap is good but free is better... okie dokie, I am going now...really ....bye...I'll be back..

  2. I don't think it is bigger than a Js, which has a huge walk in closet and bigger bathroom.Personally I hate aft cabins on anything larger than radiance class ships. I also would hate that pole. I have seen this cabin in person, and found that pole more offensive in person. Thanks for posting the video.

we had 1400 on our last freedom cruise. DH and I had our 16 yr old with us so we had plenty of room, however I was worried about the pole. Kept thinking one of us would walk into it in the middle of the night going to the bathroom. So I put a couple of those stick-um hooks on it and hung our robes on it. this way if we did bump it would hurt so much. I wonder if the hooks are still there? We also went before dry dock and had old balcony furniture. Much better stuff now. loved the size of the room and balcony. I didn't like the long walk but I needed it after all the desserts I ate.;)

  3. Well I'm now really confused as well as we received a recent compass that showed formal nites 2nd and 6th rather than the 5th night so we changed our Portofinos reservation. I'm wondering if we need to change it back. Hope you can verify the 2nd formal nite once you return from your cruise!

I am hoping to find out too before I leave but if not, I will be back to let you know before your cruise.

  4. I think Formals are Coco and day 5 St.Maartan, I just cancelled an Aft and I was under the understanding you mostly back in at Ports.

Ok, now I am totally confused because I originally thought that it was the 2nd and 5th nites (which is what I told my mom) and then someone wrote that it was the 2nd and 6th. Now its back to 5th. Well, I have portofinos booked for Wednesday but we were thinking we may go to chops also but I think I will have to wait til we get on board to book it since I don't want to book it on formal nite. Or maybe we will just forget it all together and just eat in the MDR the rest of the week:o If their food is as good as what we had on Liberty back in March, I don't mind at all.

Oh, I was wondering, Wednesday they have the coconut creme brulee, which I am really looking forward to but we will not be there, do you think I could as our waiter on tuesday to save me one for thursday? Or should I just pick one up at the early sitting and save it for a late nite snack;)

  5. We sailed on Freedom of the Seas last week (Eastern itinerary). Missed Cococay but did stop in St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Richard Spacey was still cruise-directing until he leaves for Oasis. Hysterical - my boys loved him so much.

I haven't done a trip report but thought I'd share pictures:

We were in Cabin 9526 - a D1 category, port side forward.

And as long as I'm posting, here's the link to our St. Maarten and St. Thomas days:

do you remember if you pulled straight into the docks or if you backed in. Just wondering what my view is going to be from aft. Oh, were formal nights on Monday (cococay) and Friday (sea day)?

Has anyone stayed in PR 6307? How was it? Thanks

  6. The Suite Concierge Lounge is on Deck 10 on Freedom Class Ships. (They were on Deck 9 on Voyager Class ships.

Yes, the Diamond Lounge on Freedom Class is where the 19th Hole Sports Bar was on Voyager Class.

Willy is the Diamond Concierge. I will find out who the Suite Concierge is.

There is great coffee up there ;);)

    Radio

    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thanks so much for your live reports, I can't wait until January. We will have our first aft cabin on Freedom. I know in September Diamond members can no longer use the concierge lounge but that doesn't include the diamond lounge, right? I do so love the diamond lounge. And Willie, is he the same Willie that was the concierge on Radiance back in January '08? If so, did he sing for you? We are doing Eastern in January but that doesn't stop me from living vicariously thru you right now. Thank you:p

  7. I've never had a soot problem on ANY aft balcony I've sailed in. This is not to say that a random piece of soot has not fallen somewhere on the balcony at one time or another, but nothing that I would classify as a problem. Just be aware and if you do happen to see a piece, wipe it off if it is somewhere that could cause you a problem. The only time I remember actually needing to wipe off soot was a speck on the railing, right where I was about to lean. A quick swipe with a tissue and the problem was gone. ;) I don't think people would be scrambling to book these aft cabins almost 2 years in advance if there was really a soot problem back there. I think most of the negative experiences you read about are probably the exception, not the rule. Although, for those who DID have problems, it is unfortunate, but it would not deter me from booking my favorite aft/corner cabin as I know for a fact that the complaints of soot are few and far between! :D

thank you, that is a big relief. And I am sure DH will be equally if not more relieved than I am.

  8. I've sailed in the opposite aft/corner cabin many times and have NEVER had any noise problems from The Windjammer. The Windjammer is carpeted which muffles the sound I guess and also it is not open late at night, so there was no one in there during critical sleeping hours. ;)

I am very happy to hear this as we are trying our first aft in January 2010. We have 1400. I would like to know one more thing. Did you find soot to be a problem on this balcony cabin? Just want to prepare my DH as I had to talk him into trying the aft. He was afraid of the soot probelm.

  9. do they give you a key for the diamond lounge? is there cappucinos and espressos available in there. my next cruise will be on liberty of the seas and this will be our first on that class and the first time as diamond members. Do they do all the same stuff as in the concierge lounge? Drinks between 5:30 - 8:30 pm? do they take care of booking shore excursions and reservations at portofinos and chops? etc...

  10.

But HAL has a lot of traditional type cruisers who don't want any parts of AYWD. For those staying in suites, they don't have to deal with it.

Actually not true, I booked my cruise last month, staying in a deluxe suite and I thought I wouldn't have a problem but I did. It took quite a few emails and phone calls to finally get my early upper fixed seating. So it appears that I shouldn't of had to "deal with it" but unfortunately, I did. But I did have to go to the "higher ups" to get it. Whom by the way, were very very gracious and accomodating. I was very pleased to deal with them, made the whole bad experience up til then go away and left me with a good feeling about HAL. Maybe it was just the couple of people I talked with at HAL in the beginning that didn't know any better? Of course I would have thought that my TA would have known better and expect they should have gone thru the hassel of getting it right, not me. So to sum it up, I don't know why or how they closed the fixed seating??
