  1. I didn't recommend them. Just because I KNOW that I am. I have decided. How is that a recommendation??
  2. I think the hotels are a little farther out than where I wanted to stay. I know my hotel will hold my luggage at least.
  3. That I do not know. Do you have an assigned cruise consultant? I called mine for the answer. I have him working overtime. 😁
  4. You can do up to three but only if you let NCL book you into one of their hotels for all three nights. Otherwise, it's 2 nights for both pre and post cruise. Hope this helps.
  5. Hi all: Thank you for your kind help so far. My better half and I (late 40's/50's), and my son and his wife (mid 20's) will be arriving in Rome sometime on Sun, Apr 29 (unknown arrival as we booked through NCL Air) and will be boarding our ship the next day. We have to be on board at 3. On the back end, we will have 2 days in Rome (we disembark on May 9 - we will carry our luggage off and use private transportation) and will fly out some time Saturday, May 11 - TBD. We will be staying at Hotel Lancelot for all three nights. We do know we want to do the Vatican ( the museum and St.. Peter's) and were thinking about hiring a guide (I've been in touch with To Rome with Dino) and was thinking about May 10, as early as possible but are totally flexible. Beyond that, we are all over the place. We all are more into scenery then we are long, informative tours. We love to walk and just use our eyes to take it all in. We would love to sample "not to be missed foods" from a casual bent. We are not fussy. Things off the beaten path intrigue us - Jewish ghetto, maybe I'm being lured by the thought of artichokes. I am looking at a tour through RomeCabs on embarkation day that will take us to Lake Bracciano sp? and a castle and then to the ship. Again, not etched in stone. if you are still here, thank you for reading. All the planning is in my hands as the others are open to anything. I appreciate anything you can offer.
  6. We are not fancy....anymore. I remember the days of old. Cruising and wearing gowns and tuxedos to dinner. Casual is exactly what we are looking for. ❤️
  7. That's unfortunate to hear for me but I guess it is what it is
  8. Thank you so much for your reply. I just booked for the front end and back end of our trip. Any restaurant recommendations in the area?
  9. If I know nothing else, I know I will be using Rome Cabs. 😁
  10. Crazy excited! I'd be happy in a box really.
  11. Thank you for your input. I will probably stay there because it will save me some but still pondering it over.
  12. I actually have this one saved. Thank you so much for the feedback.
  13. We will be arriving in Rome some time on Sun, April 28 and will board our ship on the 29th. Since we will not know what time we are getting in on the 28th we have decided to add 2 days post cruise and are considering a pre cruise tour that will take us to the port as well. We are looking for something outside of Central Rome as we will explore when we get in and 2 days post. Any recommendations? We like scenery more than museums, artifacts....maybe something countryside time permitting. Thank you.
  14. I just spoke to an NCL rep and he told me that most of the time they will put you on a red eye arriving to Rome in the am. Has that been your experience?
  15. Thoughts on Hotel Smeraldo vs. Hotel Lancelot? HL is about 25 euros less per night for what looks to be similar accomodations. Both include breakfast. Is their anyone who can offer some thoughts with regard to overall experience, location, etc. Thank you kindly, Lisa
  16. I am booking through NCL Air and flying out of Charleston. So, your suggestion is to check flights on my date and see the most available? Thank you for taking the time to reply and your guidance. This will be my first international flight.
  17. Which one do you recommend? I am old fashioned and love having a book in hand. Thank you.
  18. I am going to arrange a transfer via RomeCabs. What is the latest I can comfortably arrive at the port? Your input is greatly appreciated appreciated.
  19. Is it reasonable to visit the Vatican on an embarkation day? We will be staying at Hotel Smeraldo. How do we go about getting tickets and what is the earliest time to enter?
  20. Thank you once again. I think I will book to put my mind at ease. I am worried (a worrier by nature 😭) that I will not have time to book transfers because my air is with the cruise line (60 days notice) and we are a party of 4. I look forward to hearing about your stay.
  21. Thank you for the reply. It looks like so far my best options for my budget are either Hotel Smeraldo or Hotel River Palace. Opinions on one over the other? I am waiting to hear back from Hotel Navona. Both said they could arrange transfers from the airport for between 80-100 euros for 4.
  22. This is what I am worried about. Not having time to book. I guess worst case scenario we could take two cabs. Thank you for the info.
  23. We are going to deviate so I will definitely be arranging my own transfers. I am just worried about having enough time to do so with flights being released so late in the game.
