We are on that same cruise and connecting through DFW. We opted to book our own flights, but experienced the same frustration since the options were so limited. We decided to spend the day in and around Seward, take the Coastal Classic train to Anchorage at 6 pm and spend the night there. Our flight doesn’t leave until about 8 pm the next day but we will spend the day exploring Anchorage. The Coastal Classic is highly rated. Good luck finding a solution that works. For all of you that provided helpful information, I wanted to let you know that we were able to book all of our first choice excursions for our Alaskan cruise. We got online as soon as it opened and easily got our selections in the first two ports. There was a glitch in the system for our selection in Icy Strait but we were able to get it through an online chat agent. We had another glitch with our reservation disappearing for the White Pass Railroad but I emailed Mike Moore the next day and he quickly fixed this for us. We’re very happy with our choices. Thanks again to all who provided advice to these first timers!

The White Pass railway is our first choice in Skagway. I hope we get it. We're trying to stick to the excursions included in the cost since we're already stretching our budget so much with this cruise. 🙂 Thank you.

Thank you. We do plan to spend a couple of days in Vancouver to explore and probably one night in Anchorage due to necessity. The cruise ends in Seward and we want to take the Coastal Classic train to Anchorage, but since it only runs once a day, it will probably be cutting it too close to fly out that evening, especially factoring in possible delays. Does anyone have experience with this train route and flying out of Anchorage that same evening?
