I will let you know what a cruise to Cuba is like after our sailing in February 2016 on the “Celestyal Crystal”.

Celestial Crystal under repair in Turkey
The "Celestyal Crystal" could resume sailings on July 10 at the port of Lavrio near Athens.
In addition to the cruise this week, two mini-cruises with departures which were scheduled for July 3 and July 6 were cancelled after the collision with the "STI Pimlico".

In many countries, there are severe penalties for filming or taking pictures of certain facilities and/or structures. When we were in Egypt, armed guards made sure we did not take pictures of the Aswan Dam and the associated hydro facilities.
Be very careful where you fly your drone.

We are sailing on the "Louis Cristal" in Feb 2916. Is this the same ship that was involved in this collision?

Thanks for your replies. Since we don’t drink much either, we will probably drink the ship’s offerings.
After seeing a video of the balcony cabin, we have decided to go for a Deluxe Outside Stateroom (XF) on Deck 7. Do you have on thoughts/comments on these cabins?

We are thinking of taking the Louis Cristal cruise around Cuba in February 2016.
We have a hold on a SB balcony cabin and would appreciate comments, photos of the layout. In addition, what is the policy on bringing wine/spirits on board?

When my DW took a cooking class on Riviera in 2013, everyone was given the chef’s hat (toque) that they wore during the class. Since Jacque Pepin was on board, he signed all the hats, a treasured reminder of the cruise.

We have completed 16 cruises on Celebrity, Princess and Oceania; both O and R ships. These trips have included the North Sea, the Baltic, Cape Horn and the Pacific. The worst seas that we encountered were on the Crown Princess sailing the Irish Sea from Guernsey to Cork (Cohn).

The stop in Victoria, BC is a port visit on one of the many Alaska cruises. Disembarkation is in Vancouver, Seattle or San Francisco.

Egypt and Nile River Cruise
We visited Egypt in in 2009 on a 15 day tour that included 4 days in Cairo pre-cruise, a 7 day Nile cruise, and 3 days in Cairo post-cruise that included a day trip to Alexandria.
While in Cairo, we stayed at the Hilton where the food and service were outstanding as was the security at all the sites we visited. When we went to the Souk, the market, the hotel phoned ahead to ensure that we were met by an armed escort. Many in our group did not want to go into the Souk so my wife and I had a private guide/security escort for that excursion.
As stated on other posts stay with your guide at Giza and other sites throughout the trip, the vendors can be very aggressive.
We flew from Cairo to Luxor and return on Egyptair which provided excellent on time service.
The Nile cruise on the “Nile Admiral” with visits to many sites was the highlight of this trip. The ship was rather old but the food and service again were great. There were two armed guards on board but we never felt threatened. From Aswan we flew to Abu Simbel to view the temples that had been elevated before the creation of Lake Nasser. We arrived at the temples just as the sun was rising, a spectacular experience.
We found that the day trip to Alexandria was not worth the 6 hours on the bus. Otherwise, we enjoyed the trip and have recommended it to our friends.

From Oceania website:
Privée
A Private Party
Host a private party for up to 10 privileged guests in our most exclusive on board dining venue, Privée. Witness culinary magic presented on a custom-built table designed by the famed Dakota Jackson and illuminated by a golden Venini chandelier. The exquisite setting is adorned with Baroque millwork and Ferrari-red carpeting. The cuisine is equally superb, as each guest may select any number of courses from Polo Grill, Toscana or a combination of both. Within the sanctum of Privée, dining engages all of the senses, leaving you and your guests immensely fulfilled.

We had looked at the TA, Montreal to London in May on Marina but have opted for a land tour at home in Canada because of the exchange rate. Since we have visited 9 provinces, it is time to do Newfoundland and Labrador for 12 days in August 2015.
