  1. Lot of interesting and funny discussions. The intention is to have light dinner in the hotel room in few days during one week land tour, if there is a long wait in restaurants and or tiered of lot of driving. It also maximize the tour time and save few bucks. After one week cruise buffet/meal, we need simple food for few days:)..
  2. Thank you all. We can now save some space in our baggage. We may buy one in Anchorage. What about dry food items ( like rice)?
  3. We will be doing one week land tour after Alaska cruise. Our sapphire princess starts from Vancouver Port and reach whittier alaska. We are planning to take a small electric rice cooker for this trip to use during land tour. Will cruise line allow small electric rice cooker? Thanks
  4. My cruise is Sapphire princess; embarkation is from Vancouver on May 25, 2024. Nothing is shown in the app..
  5. I have downloaded princess app in my phone. I was searching entertainment or show schedule and location for the entire voyage. It is not showing any except quiz. When can we see the schedule? Btw, our trip is to Alaska in May in Sapphire..
  6. I got a email from princess that we need to pickup medallion from blue line during embarkation at vancouver for alaska voyage. What is blue line?
  7. Great discussion on timing at GBNP. We will be on NB princess sapphire on May 30th. Iternary shows 6 am to 3 pm. It appears that entry into the park is scenic and possibilities for wild life viewing. How long the ship stays near the glacier prior to sailing back? We have obstructed view cabin. How do we time our viewing from open deck? I don't think it is possible to stay all 8 hours in open deck. We may need to go back to breakfast and lunch etc..My question is which section of passage one should not miss? After I have a close look at iternary, it reaches college fjord only next day evening. Why is it take about 24 hours to reach from glacier bay to college fjord? Thanks
  8. I booked Yukon pass train directly from railway website. It is slightly cheaper than from princess. I think it is about $145..
  9. My friend and my family sailing in Sapphire princess in May to Alaska. This is our wedding anniversary trip. What are the options that cruise line offers for any celebration or dinner on anniversary day? If any such exist, what should we do?
  10. My friend and I booked two separate booking in Sapphire princess for Alaska cruise. We both installed princess app in our phones. How do we request dinner table for us to sit together? We're 4 people in the group.
  11. I am thinking of keeping passport, medical supplies, toiletries, pair of extra clothes in backpack, wallet and check-in rest of them...
  12. Excellent guidelines by martincath on how to efficiently manage the time. Will follow the same. Arrive early around 9 am ; drop the luggage and wander around and reach by 2 pm for smooth embarkation or arrive at cruise port from hotel around 2 pm. Few more questions.. 1. If we start Granville island by 1 pm, will it be risky to reach by 2 pm? 2. If we drop the baggage early, I assume we have to carry the wine bottles in the hand. We don't buy the drink package. I assume we just need the passport and cruise app handy during embarkation. 3. Any recommendations on spa centers close to cruise port Thanks
  13. We will be sailing one week in Sapphire in June. How the self service laundry to be used? Should we bring coins and detergent from home or use creditcards? What is the cost of using the self service laundry and dryer? Thanks
  14. The southbound schedule also has similar issue, I assume. As most of the ships reach Vancouver Port early morning around 7.30 am, the narrow portions (Johnsonton straight and georgia straight) are passed during night..
  15. We will be in Juneau port on May 29th. Planning to rent a car from airport and visit few attractions including the glacier. Will be driving north till eagle beach and return back to downtown. Planning to stop at Auke bay ferry terminal. I am wondering if we can go for quick whale watching tour (may be one or two hours) without any pre booking. I have already booked Kenai Fjords National Park 6 hours tour in Seward. Therefore I did not book another long (3 to 4 hours) whale watching tour in Juneau. Since Juneau is famous for whale watching tours, I am tempted to go one short tour without breaking the bank, as many 3 or 4 hours tour costs about $200 per person. Any suggestions?
  16. The only option available for NB cruise to maximize the scenery viewing, is sacrifice some sleep..Stay awake previous day night and get up early and grab a coffee and go to viewing deck..
  17. Any tips on balcony upgrade biddings? I have May 25th reservation for obstructed OV in Sapphire. Would like to upgrade to OV or balcony .
  18. We are sailing in last week of May 2024, north bound inside passage in Sapphire. How crowded the forward of the ship in the viewing deck? Is it only standing deck ? I assume we should spend most of the day in the viewing decks..
  19. Thank you..what is ship photos in Douglas Island? Is it clicking the ship from other side? Is there a possibility of seeing bears in Juneau?

  21. Wow..lot of discussion on food options, pricing and preferences..This is my summary of understanding. 1.There are 4 or 5 MDR for dinner; formal settings; Menus are same in all. Reservation required; may walk in as well. It is included in basic fare. No alcohol in basic. 2. The plus package allows to dine in for two nights in "casual" restaurants, with some alcohol. More than two nights requires cover charge.. 3.The premium package allows to dine in for 2 nights in " specialty " restaurants. More than two nights require cover charges or additional money. It is upscale restaurant. 4. There is always "buffet" option for dinner as well. No reservations required;included in basic fare.. Correct me if my understanding is not that correct.. Thanks
  22. Is casual meal better than in MDR? What is special about it? I don't understand why it is expensive in eating pizzas in pizzeria than in MDR. I assume this casual dining is not the dining in speciality dining room.
  23. The plus package includes 2 free casual dining in sapphire. I thought all 5 dining rooms are included in cruise fare..what is this casual dining?
  24. Thanks lot. It make sense to buy premium package ($820), if both of us drink lot. Except wifi for two devices, pre paid gratuity, and 15 alcoholic drinks, all other benefits are not that attractive in premium package.
