If they are on the same sailing with you (as in your signature), the ship has a kayak excursion. We were there last week, my son and daughter-in-law did this excursion and loved it!!

We were there last week and saw a female dog that looked like this one.

For those that are there now, is the sea that rough at Orient?
We were at Orient Beach last week as well, it was very rough. Our tour guide recommended "not" swimming because it was so rough.
Thoughts and prayers for this gentleman's family.

We just returned from a cruise that included St. Maarten. Chose Bernard's (but did not make prior reservations) because of all the reviews here. They got us on a tour and gave us a little discount because we had used them 4 years ago on a visit to the island. I would recommend making advance reservations if you want Tour 1; it was full the day we were in port. Super nice people, nice a/c bus, had free water, sodas, beer available throughout the day.
Will definitely use Bernard's if the occasion arises in the future.

Thanks!

Can anyone give me thoughts on driving from MIA area to POM on a Sunday, Jan 11th. Will traffic be horrible if we get to the area midmorning before our cruise? Thoughts or other recommendations?
-
Our son and his wife are meeting us, they are flying in to MIA. We were looking for something 'reasonable' in Miami for the 4 of us.
I'll look again and explore more options. We are renting a car in FLL (have a coupon for "free"). Plan to drop the car at AVIS near the port prior to embarkation.
Thanks for the help.

HELP!!!!!
Trying to get the rest of our "pre cruise" planning done so we can move on to Christmas. :)
Does anyone know about Hotel Indigo Miami Dadeland?? I know it is a little 'piece' from POM, but we will have a car as we are flying in to FLL. Don't want to pay an arm and a leg for one night hotel stay, but don't want a roach motel either.
Thanks. You guys always come through and that's why I depend on this site when making our plans. ;)

No matter where we cruise from we always spend the night, the night before we cruise. Much less worry and stress "being there" the morning we sail!!!
Come on January 11!!!!! :)

Yes, we are flying from MIA. Thanks guys for your suggestions. I think I can probably make one of these options work.
Do either of you know about the car rental close to the Port of Miami?? I have an Avis coupon I could use for rental that day, "if" I could return the car at the airport.

I'm sure "somewhere" this has been covered, but the hubs is stressing me out right now. We have a 6:30p.m. flight after our January cruise, so we have quite a bit of time to 'kill' before we have to be at the airport. Any suggestions what we can do to fill this time slot and what to do with our luggage, as well. I do have the option of a car rental for the day and I'm not opposed to that if that would be the 'best' thing to do.
Thank you all in advance for any advice/suggestions you may have!!

Have fan, "will" travel! We are on the Dream in about month, hoping for cool temps!!

Most 'returning' ships are docked in the early morning hours and begin debarkation around 8:00 a.m. I don't have a real answer to your question, just know it gets real hectic at the port on sailing days.
Good luck and happy cruising!! :)

CayoKelly,
We will be in Key West for the day on a cruise in May. We want to do the Butterfly Conservatory and 'for sure' the Southernmost Point photo op. Would the HOHO bus be the best bet for this???
Thanks for your help.

We like the lemonade; don't like the tea and they have a 'fruit' drink at breakfast that is good, too (guava/mango/nectar or something like that). ;)

Mitsugirly,
Loving your review. You always do a great job!! We are leaving on the Star 1/6, waiting for your port reveiws.
-
Thank you, 2010 Cruisers! Fabulous job compiling these tips - I will print out tomorrow before I leave - maybe I will return with a few of my own to share. ;)
Bon Voyage Gici!! Can't wait to hear what you think of the ship when you return!!

NCL gives contradictory info, but IMO 8047 is covered and located as shown.
Yes, it's complemented with a huge lifeboat.
Thank you for your expert help!! Hey, a covered balcony with a lifeboat view beats no balcony at all!! We are expecting a great cruise!!! :)
-
Ok, 'everybody else is doing it'...what about 8047? I think uncovered over a life boat. Thanks!!! Hey, do you live on the Epic?!?!?!? :D
-
Have you ever received an upgrade you were not expecting? Last year we booked a AG GTY on NCL Star and got a AF. I realize it's not that much difference, but we were still surprised.
Smellytoes, maybe the next one will be the "charm".
Island Tram Tours
in Grand Turk
Posted
We did the Grand Turk Express last week. It is $19.00 p/p, billed to your ship account. We actually stayed on the first bus for an entire 'round', takes about an hour, then we went back out and made a few stops. There is a bus every 30 minutes (give or take) and they said the last one is an hour before the ship leaves. The driver was very knowledgeable about the island, made for a great tour (our first time to be on this island).
