  1. Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that we won't be feeding the mosquitoes.
  2. Hi, I've read conflicting information re: mosquitoes in Alaska. Specifically, is anyone able to clarify mosquito situation for the following? Thanks! Time: AUGUST (2nd week approximately) 1) Juneau, Skagway, Ketichan: main port area (eg. where the shops & buildings are) and any close surrounding park like areas 2) Mendenhall Glacier: Nugget Falls Trail to the water fall 3) Docked at the ports: Do the mosquitoes make it out as far as the cabin balconies when docked at the ports? Would like to enjoy our balcony without fear of being eaten by mosquitoes. We sometimes have a bad reaction to getting bitten. 4) Type of repellent: Any suggestions regarding good repellents? Deet? Picaridin? Both types work? One better than the other? 5) Just curious: how's the current mosquito situation now in June? We're mosquito magnets so would like to mentally prepare for what's to come. Thanks!
  3. Great idea for an "adult" version of ice cream! I love sorbet more than ice cream. I'm going to have to check out MDR at lunch ... even if it's just to pop over for dessert only. Thanks for sharing!
  4. Thanks for your info! 1) Great to hear that an attendant serves you. I found this Coffee & Cones menu online. Here's the link. https://www.princess.com/content/dam/princess/onboard-experience/food-dining/pdfs/menu-coffee-and-cones.pdf.coredownload.inline.pdf I guess I was too eager to read the actual menu. Didn't look closely on the 1st page ... in super large letters it mentions chocolate, vanilla or combo flavours. 😆 2) The video was posted about 5 months ago and it was from their trip last summer. 3) Here's a link re: terms for Plus Cruise Package. See: Beverages drop down menu. https://www.princess.com/en-us/cruise-deals-promotions/plus-premier-cruise-packages Things change frequently and I worry that sometimes the website may not show the most current information. This is why I appreciate everyone's input as I trust everyone's real life experiences more than what's displayed online. Thanks for the info!
  5. Thanks for the detailed explanation. This is all very helpful information.
  6. Hi, Please advise the following: 1) Coffee & Cones: a) Is the included (aka free) soft serve ice cream flavours just vanilla & chocolate? Self serve or served by a crew member? For sanitary reasons, hoping it's served by a crew member. Note: Not interested in the paid ice cream sandwiches. Tks! b) We have Plus Cruise Package. Is my understanding correct? The Frappes & Milkshakes at Coffee & Cones are included with our Plus Cruise Package? Is there any issue with asking for the Milkshake to be made without the espresso? If issues, I may need to go with my son when he orders and see if if there's a work around (eg. ask for the espresso on the side?). Reason I ask: I read that, depending on the crew member, people either had success or failure at downsizing (aka removing items) from the "specialty" dessert that came with Plus Packages. Doesn't make sense to me because of the waste and the extra cost to the cruise line. 2) Buffet Area: a) I watched a Youtube video and someone advised that on the Crown Princess, in the afternoons, guests had access to hand scooped (hard) ice cream in the buffet area. Is this also true on the Ruby Princess? b) What flavours were available? Hoping for strawberry ice cream! We love our Frappes, Milkshakes & Ice Cream! I hope we don't overindulge and manage to save room for dinner. I believe it's easier said than done ... looks like there's temptations everywhere. Thanks for your help!
  7. We leave August 6. Ruby Princess. Very excited! Been watching a lot of Youtube & reading a lot on CC forum here but I still have questions. Since we leave soon, I thought I better start asking questions. I think we will love cruising also! Just hoping to have a relaxing time ... rest & relaxation. We stayed home many years. My husband had emergency heart surgery during Covid. Since then, we've been staying in Canada the last few years. This is our first trip outside of Canada since his heart surgery. I think cruising is a perfect fit ... no cooking, no cleaning, food, entertainment & drinks at your fingertips! We love looking at scenery and Alaska definitely has it. Our daughter loves photography and there's going to be so many photo ops. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! 😍
  8. Thanks! I'll look for the signs in case they're different times.
  9. Thank for the info. Wow! Must plan accordingly if we wish to have seats. Appreciate your help!
  10. Thanks! Appreciate you also confirming that the door should remain open unless in rough seas.
  11. Thanks for the photo! Appreciate your time looking for it and posting it.
  12. Thanks for the tips. Love the 2 extra magnets & bungee cord idea. Would you happen to recall what the height & width dimensions were for the opening to the walk in closet? Specifically: floor to ceiling height AND side to side width? Thanks!
  13. Thank you for the warm welcome! Appreciate the advice. Yes ... it's been great! I've been saving up my questions. We sail in August and am ready to ask questions. Everyone has been extremely friendly and helpful. 🙂🙏
  14. Hi, For Ruby Princess (2024 Alaska) itineraries does anyone know the following? 1) Name of Production Shows 2) Day (eg. which day of 7 day cruise? Example: Day 2? Day 4?) 3) Times (eg. 7:30 pm & 9:30 pm?) 4) How early to show up to get seats? About 15 minutes early? 30 minutes early? 5) Do these shows fill up and no more seats available? Thanks.
  15. Thank you for your explanation and reassurances.
  16. Sounds delicious! I don't drink alcohol ... maybe a sip here or there because it makes me feel ill but I'll definitely pass along these yummy tips to my husband. That's also another reason why we bought the Plus Cruise Package ... low risk to try new drinks!
