  1. Thanks so much for all your responses--they were very helpful. The menus were particularly interesting: if the food is as half as good as it looks it'll be great! More inclined to take this cruise than before. Anyone know if there is a wraparound promenade on the Freedom? And BTW which class is she? Thanks in advance! --Amy

  2. I've never cruised on Carnival-I'm mostly a NCL person but I'm attracted to Carnival Freedom's itinerary next Xmas- La Romana and Aruba and Curacao. I have a couple of questions, which may receive subjective answers. One is how noisy the ship is: are there quiet places to hang out besides one's cabin? Also, of course, the food: does anyone know of any menus that have been posted on cc? I appreciate any help with my decision! Thanks--Amy

  3. Several years ago we did the same tour with Terry and loved it as much as you did. Going back on the Gem to Samana next Xmas and can't wait to pick another one of his tours. You are so right: it's wonderful what he's doing to educate tourists about Samana and to help the Dominican people. He's a special guy.

  4. SS France, 1972, Transatlantic, First Class. I was 13 and what I remember the most was the grand entrance to the dining room and how totally amazing the food was. Also getting dressed up every night for dinner and how awkward I felt as a young adolescent descending those stairs. Another thing I remember were the rolls at dinner time: us kids each ate a least 5 of them every night. I also remember that the ship was very elegant and beautiful. I wish I could remember more!
