  1. How one company presents and markets itself says a lot about the company. Pure marketing.

Excellent point. However I'm thinking the design is simple and not gaudy at all as we've seen on NCL ships which look to me as if they were painted as part of a grade school mural project.

  2. I enjoyed that very much when sailing the Dawn to Alaska in 2000 and it was great! :D

Agreed - had it on the Sea Princess around the same timeframe. If I recall they only had pizza for lunch but would add calzones and various pasta dishes and such at night.

  3. Where does one sign up for the Cheerleading Squad anyway? Did they hand out application forms when you went there to drop $39? I assume you have eaten there since you object to people having an opinion about something unless they have personally experienced it. Myself, I have never had my tongue ripped out by an alligator, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have to "try... something before dismissing it." Maybe that's just me.

The proper spelling, by the way, is "SHARE," like shouting.

Nope - never been there so I'm not going to cry and moan about it until I do. Go ahead and use the Cheerleader Squad moniker all you want, that's what people who have no actual rebuttal are used to doing. Broken Record indeed.

  4. Yes, I refuse to see invisible people when I don't want to. I guess the Stone Cheerleading Squad is not going to accept objective reality and will be rah-rah-ing even after they give Stone the boot and replace SHARE with something even more expensive and less appealing.

No, it's more like actually trying something before dismissing it, as many people have done with Share since it was first announced (as well as many changes Princess has made over the years so it's really nothing new.) if it doesn't work out and Princess changes it, then so be it - but it's very amusing to see those who complain about the food and such who have never tasted it - especially when those who have tried it have given mostly positive reviews.

  5. When I was on the Ruby, the SHARE was at least half full....We could not get the time we wanted to reserve. The tables are so far spaced from each other that unless you actually go in and look, you cannot see diners as you are walking by except at the first couple of tables....SHARE.....as we were told by the executive chef....was not going on every ship....So far, the Ruby and the Emerald, and the Sun.....Think of it, Crown Grill is not on all ships, neither was Sab's, neither is the Bayou....Heck we can't get IC on every ship....:)

People will only see what they want to see, and many are simply against any change at all.

  6. I kind of like it -- but it's newly painted in these pictures. After a few passes through the Panama Canal, how will the crew be able to touch up the different colors? [i guess NCL has figured out a way, but that really boggles the mind!]

I wouldn't think it'd be too difficult since it's only the white hull and blue seawitch - unlike the untold number of colors on the NCL hulls that look more like a daycare art project

  7. If you have 15 items on the menu and there are 15 people responding, you will get a recommendation for 15 different "best" items. What I am getting at is that all tastes are individual and what I like may be an item that nobody else likes. Also, an item that everyone else likes may be one that I hate. So what are you going to do with the information garnered from this post?

    DON

And your point is? Maybe Cruise Critic should ban all question on here which ask for someone's opinion, then they might as well close the boards down as they'll be nothing left to post.

As for me, I'll take the Chicken and sweetbreads in puff pastry (aka the vol au vent,), goat cheese souffle, seafood tian, veal chop at Sabatini's, the pizza (lido deck and Alfredo's) and so much more

  8. You really should go to the boarding for which your travel companions qualify if you want to stay together.

They are not eligible and should not be taking priority for which they have not paid though others have.

If many folks took their family and friends aboard though they are not in appropriate cabin, how much priority would there really be?

Seems like some folks (really just one) like to either not read what the OP wrote or just like to be snarky as the OP never said anything about taking their travelling companions on early

  9. It's not really being cheap. It's being frugal.

Nope, it's being cheap and you're obviously trying to cheat the system - then trying to justify your actions as most cheaters do.

It's actions like this that ruin it for everyone else, pretty soon when Princess catches wind of this kind of cheating they'll require everyone in the same stateroom purchase the package. Much like when Princess took away the unlimited nternet perk and put a limit on it thanks to all of those who would stay logged in and let their friends and family use it all day.

  10. Though we didn't partake, Fondues was listed as an option on the last night of the cruise in the Patter on the 11/8 CA Coastal cruise on the Grand

  11. OK I'm sure this may sound like a goofy question but I want to be sure before we board. My wife and I have the AIBP for our upcoming Alaska cruise next May. My question is, we enjoy a glass of champagne on our balcony before dinner. Since the Korbel comes in 187 ml bottles, will I be charged for a bottle of wine (40% off) if we bring the bottles to our room or do I have to have it served in a glass to be part of my free drinks? It would be easier to carry two small bottles in my pocket than trying to carry two champagne glasses on an elevator.

Thanks in advance for help. :)

These are included in the package, at least they were when we ordered them. Should be able to ask for them to be unopened from the bartender

  12. I like the concept of a gastropub on a ship - no one is forcing anyone to partake of it. BUT I think Princess chose the wrong venue to put it in. The Wheelhouse Bar is almost a signature feature of Princess ships and although it's not our lounge of choice in the evenings I know it is for many others.

  13. The video is of the launch event where people are sampling the food, they aren't in an actual Share restaurant since there isn't one yet. The video also shows the still photos I attached here in it - in fact you can see people in the video looking at these same photos showing the smaller tables as well.

  14. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the video of the launch of the Share launch event? It's wasn't held in a Share dining venue because, well...none have been built yet! They show people eating at banquet tables as they are simply trying the different types of food Share is going to offer. In fact in the video they show several concept images of what Share will look like which clearly shows many smaller tables available - you can see these images in the photo gallery on the Princess website as well. As mentioned many times, no one (outside of Princess) knows exactly what the final design will look like, but I highly doubt they are going to force you to share with strangers.

  15. Several years ago we dropped off our paperwork for FCC's in the box, and the next day received confirmation in our mailbox that we had purchased them - our TA at the time was also notified. A few months later when we went to use them, Princess told our TA - oops, looks like they never actually charged your account for the FCC's - even though we had paper and email confirmation. I couldn't find a record of them charging us either and they just allowed us to pay the $100 each then to be able to use them.
