  1. My girlfriend and I are considering the 15 day Hawaii cruise from Los Angeles on the Ruby Princess. We have done 3 prior cruises to the Caribbean, all on Carnival. We were looking for something a little longer than the 8 days we have done prior, as well as avoiding the flight to Florida.

However, on the forums it appears we may be severely in the age minority, as we are both 25 years old.

On Carnival, we do enjoy the sea days. By the pool, activities, trivia and such. Will we get this same experience?

    Thoughts?

We recently did the rt LA to Hawaii on the Ruby. The sea days were nothing like idyllic warm Carribean sea days. Weather cool, seas rough, and up to 40 kt. winds. The Ruby does not ride well in rough, open trans-ocean seas.

For a great 15 day cruise, do the Coral Princess, Ft. lauderdale to Los Angeles, via trans Panama Canal. Smooth seas, great warm tropical weather all the way, interesting ports, and a fantastic ship! It's a whole different ball game than the Ruby to Hawaii and a lot more idyllic, interesting, and relaxing in my opinion. Far less people on board the Coral too.

  2. Sapphire Princess,February 24,2016. Will be in Sihanoukville, March 2. I'm trying to get a group together for a city tour. Cost is $55 per person. I can forward you the information if you're interested.

Don't waste your time touring the town. Not much worthwhile to see. If beaches are your thing, take a tuk tuk down to Otres2 Beach and spend part of the day there. Very beautiful, quiet, and clean water. Safe Americanized food at Secret Garden and Tamu. I was there earlier this year. Highly recommend.

  3. We've been on all three. The Coral is the best of the three. The Island, a sister ship, in our opinion is a distant second. The Star is light years behind in last place. The Coral has a good, warm casual feel about it. It was in wonderful condition. We've been on it three times. We've gone from L A to Ft. Lauderdale on our last trip. We thought the crew staff were exceptionally good. They were casual, very friendly and accessible, and accommodating and very efficient. That's why we rate it so much ahead of the Island. The Island did not have that warm friendly vibe. With crews turning over, no telling how many of the same crew that we encountered are still on the ship. The food from start to finish was great! We never had a bad meal and we rate the food that we had on our year end Canal cruise, maybe the best of all our 20 Princess cruises.

  4. This is just a heads up to you, that will be going on the Ruby, that there is no sports of any kind after 6:00 PM. No ping pong or basketball or golf after 6:00PM.

They took out the suffleboard completely:mad: We really enjoyed playing some of those things after dinner. My DH is really disappointed. He now tells me don't book anymore cruises on the Ruby.

We are on board right now. Doing a BtoB for a total of 19 days, Cal. Coastal & Hawaii R/T LA. I talked to the assistant CD today about this & he said it is not fleet wide. It is just the Ruby.

    Hi Ronnieslady,

We are doing the rt LA to Hawaii on Dec. 18th. We are very curious to know how your crossing was. We saw that a storm crossed your path. Did it affect your weather or the seas very much? Aloha and good sailing.
