  1. Just to add...I am guessing I can't name the site, but if you request quotes from a site on which different agencies "compete" for your "cruise" business, you will see a wide range. You of course just have to confirm which prices include perks and REF deposits to compare apples to apples.

  2. Here's a bit of an example...booked a cruise for March 2026, 6 days. Quote from usual agency (b/c they have no group rates) for balcony: $3111, w/perks, refundable deposit, 345 OBC, and that's for a V3. Quote from a different agency who apparently has a contracted rate: 2338, w/perks, refundable deposit, 125 OBC, for a V2! So, it makes no sense to go w/agency #1 and get my $150 or whatever OBC from booking onboard. I have used agency #1 for many years, but things seem to be changing. For my 3 most recent bookings I did not use them b/c they had NO group/contracted rates and couldn't tell me if they will at any point...and that was for 3 different sailings.

@RealDeal  I am also interested in this answer.  My experiences mirrors Jim's.

Let me see if I can find some data. I can tell you this...for my bookings in 2025 & 2026, I did NOT go with my usual "very large" agency b/c they had NO group/contracted rates. So, yes I could've used my booking onboard & gotten that OBC and their 10% or whatever OBC, but it didn't come close to the benefit I reaped by booking with another agency that offered a much lower fare and SOME (not very high) OBC. I look at NET. I will try to offer up some hard numbers...

How many days is your cruise, which ship, and where in Europe?  “Good” price depends on a lot of variables.  You may find that some TA’s include all the perks for less than Celebrity’s sail only rate.  That was our experience for Sep 2024.

Also, FYI, many TAs have not only better group/contracted rates but also offer refundable deposits...of course plus extra OBC. Check w/some reputable TAs. Also, I'm finding lately that a lot of TAs are saying the booking onboard benefit isn't combinable with their discounted rate. I guess you just have to determine what makes most sense.

  5. I know on S class to look for the squares & count from there, but how does it work on M class ships? I'm looking at C1s and there are huge blocks that have the squares. Does that mean they all have bed by bathroom?? Specifically looking around 8076, 8080.

Correct. If you are asking if you could upgrade from a V1 to a DV, then no, you cannot. The upgrade has to be within the same super-category. Above a V1 would be the DV which is outside of the super-category and also listed in the excluded category. You can go from V3 to V2 or from V2 to V1, but that's where it would stop.

Yes, that's what I was asking...just wanted to be sure...thx!

  7. Booked on Reflection in 2024. I found this on the X website, which dzn't exclude V1 from one category CC upgrade: For sailings departing on or after April 12, 2023: Captain's Club one-category upgrade excludes categories: IS, ES, SV, SC, PO, DO, DI, DV and Z, Y, X, XC, XA, W.

However, I called CC & they told me there is no CC upgrade from V1. Can anyone confirm that this is correct?

Post 33 from Saturday had a link to the current Terms & Conditions, which coincided with what I was told today on the phone by the CSR, which states that if someone in a cabin upgrades, all occupants must upgrade.

They are shooting themselves in the foot.  I'll pay 12 a day, but not 48 a day.

Strange...I think I did it 2 weeks ago, printed our boarding passes, and mine says PALL & his says CALL, so it's correct.

It used to be 10 bucks a day plus gratuity for the upgrade from classic to premium and one person could do it.  It's now 20 a day + gratuity and both people need to do it.  So, what used to be 12 bucks a day for 1 person to upgrade is now 48 a day for both to upgrade.  So, no World Class Bar drinks or Martini bar drinks for us on our 18 days on the Beyond in November. Not going to pay 5.00 + 20% per drink extra. The Sun Princess is looking better and better.

FYI, I recently upgraded to Premium for our upcoming cruise & my other half did not.

  10. My friend wants to get married on an X ship and we were wondering if it matters if she books her cruise thru a TA vs directly with X as far as having the ability to plan the wedding onboard. If she books directly, do they offer a discount for a certain number of cabins? Possibly not relevant bc I don’t think she will require that many. TIA.
