1. Surely you jest....they don't want common branding of any sort between RCL and Celebrity...and neither wants a combined captain's club type program because they want to have some control of "their" passengers.

My guess is that even the acknowledgement of each others frequent cruiser program came from the holding company, not the individual brands.

Wasn't there a time when X and RC used the same formula to assign loyalty points? I thought that before RC moved to the "per day" formula, both cruise lines were using the same formula.

  2. I agree which means it's probably not right :)

assuming that the UK wanted to give away one extra 7 day's cruise's tier points as a bonus, that would imply 25 tier points per current "old" point. That would equate to a conversion of 30 times your number of "old" points.....or 25 "old" points to be elite+ or 100 "old" points to be zenith level.

Just to keep the speculation going, why would Celebrity use a "25 to one" conversion rate, when RC used a "7 to one" conversion rate? Wouldn't it make sense to have Celebrity and RC in alignment?

  3. No speculation re: numbers. Just looking at images and seeing the numbers displayed there. Although, rumor has it... that maybe this is a clever ruse on the part of Celebrity to keep us nerds in line. (see posts above!) :D

What keywords did you have to insert in the google search bar to locate the images? How far into the selection of returned images was the particular image that held those numbers?

    Thanks. :)

  4. Indeed. But the internet is a wonderful thing, isn't it? If you do a search in google images, you can find some interesting information. For those of us who are on the more "nerdy" side of "geek," there is an interesting url associated with the images that leads me to believe it's a development website that is being put together for a future launch... password protected and all of that.

But, again, the internet being what it is, images appear with the following information: Zenith level at 3000+ points and Elite+ level at 750-2999 points.

That's a hefty reach for me, as bad as Pinnacle over at Royal. Not achievable, for me, really, especially if you think that the 750 will come from nights at sea. In 7 years of cruising, I've been on the sea a little more than 7 months, which is only 210 nights. That's cruising at the rate of about a month a year, or the equivalent of 2 transatlantics a year. Just don't see us increasing that any time soon.

So, although the topic interested me... if what I'm seeing is anywhere close to being what is going to happen... I'll be losing interest in this conversation very quickly as it will not be relevant to me any longer.

If the 750 point entry level for the next tier is correct, there will be many disappointed people who thought the new levels would mirror the Royal Caribbean tiers.

  5. Transatlantic cruise prices still cranked way up, and no promotions available.

Fire sale pricing on the fall transatlantics because of unsold cabins indicate that this pricing policy for transatlantics will not work in the long run, and it's just giving everyone a really cynical view of Celebrity.

I remember when Celebrity pricing policies treated customers treated with respect, and we could book early knowing that we would be fairly treated. Now they ask you to pay $2500 for a 15 day transatlantic with no promotions, while selling cabins off at fire sale prices after Final Payment.

No everyone can wait until 8 weeks out to book a European holiday.

  6. Appreciate this great, added info. Look forward to seeing from cruisetrail any of the added visuals on 1233 and 1235, plus any pictures for 1615-17-19, too.

Assume our Butler or steward can take care of having that glass divider removed. Right?

    THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

FYI, the glass panel dividers are not removed. They are opened and folded back, and locked into position. This is something that you can ask your cabin steward to do for you.

  7. Sorry if you were offended - Must say a thank you, as all at CC now have an indication that on/about 27 credits will equate to either retaining Elite status or being inducted into the new VIP level.:)

Wonder what the new benefits will be?

Nothing in the original post can lead you know or assume anything about Elite status.

  8.
Now it is looking like the Med in June.

I asked the husband if he could take 2 weeks off in June next year because a friend of ours is also looking at this cruise and he said he thought he could.

Next thing I know he's telling me there are Sunset Veranda cabins available and we should get one before they are gone!:D
That will be fabulous. If you have some flexibility, earlier in June would be wonderful.

You might want to do a little research about Sunset Veranda cabins if you are sailing on a Solstice-class ship. I love the aft cabins on the M-class ships, but the S-class ships have almost no overhang, so you will be really exposed to the sun. I do know that this works for some people, but for me, not so much :p.

Congratulations on getting one step closer to that Mediterranean cruise!
  9. Yeah I agree with the above. They won't lose any money on us because if we share its no big deal. We are talking about a 20 cent soda not an alcoholic drink. I am sure alot of people do it that are not on cruise critic.

I never smuggle alcohol on board or even if allowed bring wine on board like some allow. So...my occasional free soda to my husband is no big deal.

    Happy cruising....:p:p:p

    A rationalization is a rationalization is a....

  10. I think it is OK if you get the soda card sticker on your sign and sea card and just share it with your spouse. We don't usually get any other packages. I don't know if this is considered a package or just a soda sticker.:confused:

Sorry, no, it is not okay. It is exactly the same thing as two people sharing one beverage package.

  11. If you are looking for the attentive service, that certainly happens in Blu, if you are looking for more cooked to order foods that also happens in Blu. Sorry I misread your love of Qsine as being because of some of the more "heavy" items they can bring out.

Attentive service is definitely one thing that we are looking for, as is the "fresher" food if you will. We were able to enjoy Qsine by selecting smaller items (disco shrimp, lava crab, Kobe sliders) and skipping the side dishes.

I certainly love the lower noise level in Blu and the fact I feel like I am dining in a restaurant and not a larger function suite if you get my drift.

    Exactly my thoughts.

Also do not overlook the Blu breakfast experience, much more relaxing than in the cafe and as it is the same staff as look after you at night, you are really made to feel like one of the family each morning. You also get freshly squeezed juice there that you have to pay for elsewhere and made to order dishes so although there is a menu for example the omlettes it is basically a "tell us what you want in your omlette from this list"

Another reason I ultimately switched to Aqua. I often only ate a made to order omelette in the Ocean View. And I love the thought of fresh squeezed juice and smoothies. And, I may have to try the Musli as well.

Hope you are able to find the right "dining choice" for you, it is so difficult when you are trying to guage what others are saying to you and base your decision on that

Thanks again. I think we will be fine. We are also looking forward to the other AquaClass goodies and "privileges". (And the new Michael's Club with craft beers as well)

But one question, that no one can answer yet, is, how will Blu deal with the increased number of passengers traveling in the Aqua Suites? On the deck plan, it doesn't appear to be any larger than Blu on current ships.
We have cruised in Aquaclass four times now, and since Blu went to "open seating" (3 of our cruises) we have found that Blu is never more than 75% full, and even less many nights. My guess is that Blu will be fine, even with the increase of passengers from the Aqua Suites.

Although we love Blu, we also go to a couple of the specialty restaurants per cruise, and some nights just order room service and eat on the balcony, if the MDR menu appeals to us. I don't think we are unusual in that regard, so that probably opens up some space in Blu.

Here's hoping it all works out well. :)

  12. I have done a search through this thread but wasn't able to turn up a picture.

Does anyone have a picture of the quad bed on the Rotterdam?

Friends of mine had the option of booking a triple or a quad and booked the quad (I don't know why they made this choice) but I was wondering what the 4th berth looked like on the Rotterdam. Does it intrude into the headspace at all?

There will only be 2 people in this room. They have booked a category F on the Dolphin deck.

If you had the choice, would you book a triple over a quad, or does it make any difference?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  13. I'd be happy to help if I can! My best tip is to try to make your meal similar to what you are serving your family. If they're having takeout pizza, make your NS pizza. Stuff like that. I also have some great flex meals that meet NS requirements that you could serve to your whole family (they'd just eat more than you would I assume).

    You can do it!

    Hi Susie:

I have been following along with your NS blog since you started. Way to go! You must be feeling fabulous.

I started NS last week, and I have to say that your blog influenced me to give it a try. I did NS in the 80's and the food wasn't even edible. I have a 4-month programme of 20 days NS per month...5 days on NS, 2 days "on your own" per week. Tomorrow is my first actual weigh in, but I was down 3.5 lb. yesterday. I'm definitely feeling better, and feeling positive that I can do this.

So far, so good. I am having no problems following the programme. I don't have too many choices on this programme, but so far I haven't run across anything I've hated. I like adding my own protein and fats, and the two days on my own give me some flexibility when I have to go out, which we do quite a bit.

I tried Jenny Craig last summer, for two months, and it worked great, the food was really good, but it was too expensive...it ended up being about $700 per month, although they initially told me it would be $350 per month. I did keep off the 20 lb. I lost on Jenny Craig, and am now trying to lose the rest of it on NS. Our next cruise is in September, so I hope to be a different person by then.

The NS plan is more about a continuing lifestyle for me, rather than a diet. It's just handy to have those prepackaged meals in place for days when I'm feeling "vulnerable" to the munchies.

What I'm trying to teach myself is the appropriate "internal dialogue"...what i have to say to myself when I'm tempted.

I do like the community over at NS....they're all really helpful and supportive. It feels kind of like CC over there!!!

    Have a great week, everyone!

    Waterlily777...

These could change daily, so you need to check your rebid zones prior to bidding each time. To check the zones go to Priceline's bidding page. You will see step 1 that lists the zones. When you click on a zone you will see the * levels listed in step 2 below. Write down the zone that do not have a 4* and use those for your free rebids. San Diego has quite a few. Good luck! Be sure to see my advice above about keeping your bids below what you can get a good 3* hotel for if you are looking for a 4* downtown. Last month I won the W Hotel downtown (4*) for $80 per night. However, parking was $32 per night and no free breakfast. Keep that in mind when placing your bids.

Thank you so much for your help.
