  1. There is a form to fill out before the massage. Asks about any problem areas, etc. There is also an area where you check the box if you have high stress, high blood pressure, tough employment etc. We ALWAYS check NO on every line. I think they are trained to find one teeny tiny thing that you have checked YES on, and run with that, stating that this product or that service will help with those issues. They seem baffled when they read it, and usually do not try a hard sell after that.

  2. They dropped the Dominican Republic from our cruise next month so I think your right to look for other options. Its all about how quickly they can get somewhere when they are not operating at full speed. I did the CB last year and have scheduled it this year and again next year, so I'm not concerned about the ship itself. My only concern is that Princess knows what ports they cannot make , yet they continue to offer them and when people book, they cancel it. ;p:confused:

I agree with you on not being concerned about the safety on board, but again, would be upset to miss the DR. I believe I will cancel and book on another ship. Thanks for your comment!

  3. I booked this cruise specifically for the Domincan Republic stop. We are looking to retire there in 4 years, and thought we could go visit the town we are looking at. I read that there is a chance Princess could drop it as a stop, so now I am looking at other lines to sail there. I love Princess, but am not comfortable that they can keep the itinerary. Anyone else leery?

  4. Yes, you can. When you book, the booking will only have your name on it, in essence it will be a solo cruise booking. Once you add the second passenger, you will see a slight price increase, for port fees and taxes for second passenger. Just don't wait to long to add, as I am sure there is a cut off, (probably final payment), for adding second name.

  5. Sure little sister. It is from 16-23 Feb 2019. Seversl cruise lines have these themed cruises. Anything from jazz to motown to flower power to blues to the 80’s to malt shop memories. Depending on your age you can book a cruise with groups or artists from the 1950’s or 60’s or 70’s or 80’s. You pick which cruise line and what time of year. Most of the companies that book these book two cruises per year. One in wonter and on in fall. I will be on Caribbean princes next year and the groups i am seeing are mostly from the 1960’s Official lineup has not been announced. Just google theme cruises and you can see who is playing on which ship

Of course its the cruise AFTER mine---Missed again. Drat!

  6. I guess since I am not a sea merchant; I don't have a clue as to why the company would wait so many years to make a permanent fix to this problem. From the likes of this and other threads; this has been an issue since 2011; that's going on 7 years; and another 17 months before they make a permanent fix. I guess when you chug along the Caribbean you can get away with adjusting your itineraries; and transatlantic crossing don't really affect port calls. Oh well I guess when I sail her in Feb on 2019 she will still be limping. No big deal. I would book another ship; but this one is hosting a rock and roll oldies show; so I have to take ship in order to see the groups. Again, not a big deal

Which date are you sailing, and can you tell me more about the "rock and roll oldies show"?

  7. Do you get fresh orange juice on the soda and more package?

From the Princess site: Looks to me like juice is included: Includes the Unlimited Soda Package plus any mocktails, juices, and hot chocolate throughout the cruise.

  8. The main problematic light is a sort of nightlight that emanates from the little magazine shelf above the bed, no way to turn it off but you can block it with papers or something (you'll see what I mean). It's a faint blue glow.

Studio cabins have the odd noise--plumbing, crew carts moving around, maybe your neighbor playing music while getting ready to go out. As someone who has overly keen hearing, you really just can't get a silent room on any ship. Try not to pick a cabin next to what looks like a big blank space--in the studio area, that's a trap! It's not blank, it's a crew area where they may be moving noisy stuff in and out, or running a huge ice machine (learned the hard way). You're better off taking your chances sharing a wall with neighbors.

Either way you really need a white noise machine if noises will be a problem, or some other solution. On my cruise where I could hear my neighbor's music while she was getting ready every night for dinner etc, I just put in some earbuds and listened to podcasts or white noise. In the end you can only control your own ears.

I sailed last December, and found the power button for the light above the bed is flush with the panel. It can be turned on and off. Stateroom 11517.

  9. I am in Virginia and my fabulous TA is in Indiana. We will be sailing on the same cruise in March of 2018, and will meet for the first time. Not only is she great at her job, but she is compassionate. We just spoke on the phone last night about a non cruise related subject and it was a nice easy flowing chat. She goes above and beyond for me, and gets me perks I couldn't get alone.

  10. Was on the Escape in December, wasn't pleased with Cagneys, but went to Moderno twice. We loved it so much, all the meats were hot and fresh. Great salad bar, and the pineapple was loved by my table mate. I am not a pineapple person, so I did not indulge.

  11. I am new to NCL, having booked my first cruise on the Escape. I have been trying for days to purchase dining and drink packages but the page just sits there loading and never gets to the page where I can purchase. Several have said to call in and order, but being new, I want to be able to review all options and then make my selections. Any others having this problem?
