  1. I have seen the comedy on the other solstice ships in the med- last year .A chap from the USA and one from England - both very funny.

They each did a show on separate nights and then one show with both of them absolutely packed on all nights.

I ole they have the same(similar) the eclipse this summer as I shall be on her twice out of Southampton!:)

  2. Can anyone help-

I am wondering if it ld be possible to do the Flam train at 0835 and come straight back down on the 0939 arriving in Flam at 1035 and then do the boat trip to Gudvangen and return by bus from thee.

It fits with the cruise ship timetable but am I trying to do too much? Also is the bus /boat trip worth it?

If anyone has done the boat/bus trip and can help i'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks for all your help

    Susan

  3. We were there in December and you could get drinks at any of the bars on the drinks package just as you might on the ship- subject to what they had available which was more limited than the ship. They were still good though!

I went snorkelling with the ship and it was ok - certainly not the best I have experienced.

What seems to be the long beach over which the zip line goes was some what rocky to enter and we went over to the other side from where you could see the ship and the water was calmer and no rocks.

It did mean a walk past the vendors but they were not that pushy and a polite no thanks seemed to dissuade them. They have been authorised by the cruise line to be there, and to be fair are only trying to earn a living.

    overall a nice place.

  4. We were on the serenade in December out of New Orleans. We stayed in a hotel not far from the port and found the taxis were very good with a fixed fee to go to the port/airport.

We were on an inside on deck 9 and had no complaints at all. room as you might expect kept very well by the room attendant.

The port wasn't far from Jackson Square or the French Quarter- just a few stops on the trolley bus.

Really enjoyed the cruise- shame we travelled the Mississippi both ways in the hours of darkness.

    Hope this helps a little?

  5. We were also with Thenford Grey two weeks ago and had the Tour. It was excellent.

I won't repeat everything said here by others - but totally endorse it.

We would certainly use him again.

He very knowledgeable, a gentleman and we had a terrific day.

  6. We followed Lair Bears walking tour of Tallin. It was excellent and we saw so much. We walked from the ship to the gates and then followed the tour.

We had a very enjoyable day and can thoroughly recommend the walk and Tallin.

  7. I was on the SS Uganda in 1972 ( ish) . I seem to recall we flew to Naples, then to Gythion Greece, Cyprus , Haifa Israel,Alexandria for the pyramids and back to Venice. We were in dorms of girls and I can remember there was some particularly bad weather between Haifa and Alexandria and nearly everyone was sick - although I was lucky enough to escape and was rewarded with a tour of the bridge!! Recall many happy moments from that time.

My next cruise was over Christmas /new year to the caribbean in 2007/2008

quite a long wait. This year 2 cruises: August in the western med (HAL) and then in December through the panama canal(P&O). Waited a long time for the second one and am now looking forward to the next 2.
