  1. Looking at buying our cruise insurance from Celebrity & want to know how the cancel for any reason works. It says that you can get 75% of your cruise cost applied to another Celebrity cruise within one year. One question I have is can that 75% be applied to an existing cruise? Any other information will be helpful. Thanks

  2. Hi- We went from Vancouver to Tokyo in 2014. That time the cruise did not stop in Alaska but went to Russia. Otherwise it like this year's cruise, which we are also going on. As I remember it the weather was fine-good for running on the jogging deck. The trip was fine . We liked the food. As lovers of jazz and classical music, and not lovers of Vegas-like shows, the entertainment was disappointing. But that was just us. Others perceived things differently, no doubt. But we are doing the trip again which indicates that overall we were satisfied. My wife quilts so she was satisfied to joined others who did needlework on some of the days. We like sea days. Obviously there was no shortage of them. The Japanese stops were all interesting. We wandered around cities, checked out stores. Were impressed at the relative "smallness of scale" that is necessary when many people live in a small geographical space. Ask questions about what you are looking for in a cruise and I can respond.

Hi, There's a roll call for the September 2, 2016, Japan cruise at this link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2142156

Come on over & join us! Thanks for the information. Shirley

  3. I asking for tips on the shore excursions. We'd like to see Muir woods but when I looked it said "wait in line", or something like that. Does that mean if we book we just sit and wait and may not get on the tour at all?

What would you advise to do in Santa Barbara? or San Diego?

I'm a country girl, first time for me and hubby to see California.

Will we be able to get a tour from a private company if we just get off at the port and check around? or could we get a ticket on an "off and on" bus on our own? Any suggestions or your experiences would be helpful. We sail in a week!!!

If you are sailing on the Crown April 23,we have a very active roll call with information that might help you. You can join us at this link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2198216

  4. Comparing to Carnival

Princess allows reservations for ATD. One issue with ATD on Princess is when assigned diners do not want to eat at their assigned times and overfill the ATD. Rarely has our card been checked to see our dining assignment.

Hi Sadie, how do you make reservations for ATD? We will be on the Crown for the first time next April. Thanks, Shirley

  5. Some TA sites are showing this for the Infinity...not seeing either of these on Celebrity's site, though ... and nothing about the Millie.

When you check on X's web site, check for Date = September 2016 & Ship = Infinity. They don't come up if you select by destination of Pacific Coastal. The Infinity is doing the September PC's, I made a mistake & corrected it in a later post when I said it was the Millie. Shirley

  6. Hoping someone from Celebrity is noticing this. Too late for fall of 2017 as these itineraries will be out around December or January.

What makes me angry is that there were only two cruisetours for Pacific Coastal, one in Sept and one in May, the Sept was cancelled and booked by charter. We will try again for 2017 in the hope that the same thing does not happen again.

Many were very angry over the cancellation so maybe Celebrity will not want to deal with that again . Of course money talks, so if a large charter comes along, giving them substantially more money, of course they will cancel again. Who cares about all the people who booked and gave the deposit in good faith.

The Millie is doing 2 coastals in September 2016. September 18 and September 25.

  7. the $10k, is that annual limit for all claims, or just the reimbursement of cruise fare? Also what are med-evac limits?

I have been looking for annual policies, and I found one for $449/year with 250k med-evac, 50k medical, but only $5000 trip cancellation/interruption coverage. Also includes rental car collision up to 45k, and allow pre-existing conditions.

This sounds pretty good. Would you mind telling be the name of the company? thx Shirley

  8. Quick question for any who have sailed the transatlantic...

How are the seas?? We have sailed many Caribbean waters...but my wife is just cautious about sailing across the atlantic.

Any help...advice would be greatly appreciated.

If we book it would be 16 day April cruise.

    Thanks again..

We were on the Reflection TA last April. It was a fantastic cruise with smooth seas.

  9. I think all airlines have issues of one kind or another from time to time. You have to compare the alternatives and in the USA right now that is United and American and given those choices I'll take Delta. Far from perfect but they usually get us from point A to point B and most often either on time or close to it - you have to expect delays on occasion and Delta is no exception.

I agree. We have taken 2 international flights on Delta recently and have thought the flights to be comfortable and they arrived on time.

  10. I did the math for the Infinity Sept. 25th 2016 cruise. For CC1 cabin per day price is $326. without any perks as it is a repo. cruise. Way too much for a CC cabin. My May 2016 Pacific Coastal that I will be on is AQ 1 $ 262. per day with all three perks and OBC is $400. These prices are per person per day. Hopes this helps. I booked May cruise while on the Summit in April.

We booked before their latest GoBig... and have the drink package, free grats & $300 OBC. I just checked the X site and they are offering the GoBig now so you do get some perks.

  11. The reason we were thinking Bistro on 5 is that we really don't care too much for the specialty restaurants. I know we are in the minority, but it's just too much food and personal attention for us.

We frequently go to the buffet in the evenings. They have sushi, grilled fish & meats, pasta. Depending on the ship they have other items, too. It's not crowded and very quiet.
