I don’t think anyone knows the answer to that, but my guess would be they would allow FCCs to be moved across, after all from their point of view that would be better than people asking for refunds.

Agree Host Grandma. **IF** anything were to happen to Azamara (and I sincerely hope it does not come to that !) I'd be confident they will allow you to move FCC's to Royal or Celebrity. Marinaro brings up a good point about Silversea. They would be the only Royal brand (sort of) in the same Universe as Azamara. Whether they would accept their FCC's is uncertain, but I would think it's possible, as they are now part of the Royal Family -- again, IF it ever came to that.

I highly doubt any of us knows what the future holds. Honestly, I felt pretty good about Azamara's future, until Larry resigned. IMO, it boils down to "who knows" - but the same could be said for a number of other brands. I wouldn't be surprised to see a major brand go bankrupt (probably not Royal) IF this lasts for many months. IMHO, I'm not convinced on the most dire shutdown predictions, but I suppose anything is possible at this point. FWIW, I'm still hopeful that we will see at least some ships sailing this Summer. Probably a small percentage - but some.

We live in unprecedented times, and Cruising will change - at least in the early phase of sailings. I truly believe the industry will rebound, and ships will eventually sail full again, but it's going to take a fair amount of time before we get there.

Not sure why you'd think that Andy. Azamara share many functions with Royal now and I'm pretty sure I have seen it confirmed that refunds are being dealt with together for all the brands.

    Phil

I should have been more precise Phil. When I said "run independently" - I meant the brands are run independently as far as management teams go. Has that changed ? I was aware that Azamara shares services with other departments at Royal.

Not sure who is handling FCC's for Azamara, but (FWIW), when I asked Celebrity about their FCC's this week, they stated they're handling their Celebrity bookings. Whether that's 100% accurate, is anyone's guess.

Hope all is well with you. Please stay safe.

Because Azamara and Celebrity are both part of the Royal Caribbean umbrella refunds/issuing of FCCs are taking a long time for all 3 brands. Why do you think you're waiting in line with others?

It's always been my understanding that all three brands are run independently. Unless something has recently changed, I doubt that folks waiting for refunds/FCC's at Azamara, are being thrown in with Royal Caribbean & Celebrity Guests.

While it's possible there's a directive from the RCCL Executive team - IMO, that would be a poor decision for all involved. I absolutely believe it''s a case of tremendous amount of paperwork/accounting/procedural stuff going on, and that all takes time.

For those that are upset about refunds, I sincerely hope it will be resolved as soon as possible.

11 years at the helm and Larry never saw a new ship build to put a stamp on his legacy....what a shame.

The same thought crossed my mind today. I always hoped he would be the Master of Ceremonies at the naming ceremony, watching his dream come to reality. Sad.

  5. Hi Everyone,

Hope my dear Cruise Critic friends are doing as well as possible, during this horrible Pandemic.

I wanted to also share how sad I am, to learn of Larry's resignation. I've had the pleasure of meeting Larry, and I was always impressed by everything about him - especially how passionate he is, about all things Azamara and the Cruise industry. To describe Larry as "Brilliant" & "Visionary" isn't nearly enough. Azamara, and the entire industry was lucky to have his leadership.

While Larry's departure is a massive loss for Azamara, I believe they have an excellent management team, both shoreside and onboard their beautiful ships. While I'm sure we can all agree the current state of the Cruise industry is difficult at best, I'm rooting for Azamara and the rest of the Cruise industry to return to what we all love... just as soon as possible.

One last item - Please give Bonnie a break. With everything going on in the industry, and with life in general, we're ALL under a great deal of pressure. Bonnie does a wonderful job, and you are lucky to have her. IMO, the industry needs voices like Bonnie more than ever, and most brands are virtually silent ! Can't understand that. If it were my call ? I'd want to be reaching out to past Guests and prospective cruisers, more than ever. Getting this industry sailing again, and prospering, is going to be a daunting task. Each & every Guest must be treated like Gold.

Larry - In case you are reading this... Thank You for everything you've accomplished for Azamara over the last 11 years. I wish you much continued success. Godspeed in your future Journeys, Quests, and Pursuits.

Wishing My Cruise Critic Friends, Bonnie, and the entire Azamara team, good health and safety during this very difficult time. May God bless us all. Please stay in touch. I miss you all very much.

Hello Andy.... I'd like to send a word to Lisa Perloff (sp?).  Do you know how to contact her office directly?  Even 'contact us' doesn't show any direct link to customer service, let alone the office of the executives.  Thanks if you can help...sorry to bother you with this, and we miss you!

    Hi Oceangoer2,

How are you ? I hope all is well !

In most corporate structures... the email address is typically the first letter of the person's first name, and, their entire last name. For example, Joe Smith would be "JSmith@aaa.com". Celebrity has 2 email domains : @Celebrity.com & @Celebritycruises.com .  FWIW, I've tried emailing Ms. Lutoff-Perlo in the past (via email & via Twitter), and have not received a direct reply. With that said, your email will undoubtedly be read, and it's likely that someone from her team will respond.

Thank you for your very kind thoughts. I miss everyone on here very much, though I visit often, and help when I can. Life has changed in recent months, as My Mom took very ill late last year. Thankfully, she's doing MUCH better now, and we just celebrated her 95th Birthday on Reflection 2 weeks ago. I'm also writing a book. Not sure if it will ever be published, or, if I will try to publish it - but I'm enjoying the project, as I love writing and helping others. Between my full time job, taking care of Mom, & the book... time is a precious commodity right now.

I am considering doing Cruise podcasts. Recently purchased the equipment. Would anyone like to see that project happen ?

Hope this helps. Please feel free to reach out anytime. My email address is HostAndy at Comcast.net or you can Direct Message me at : @HostAndy on Twitter.

Thanks very much for your kind words Hcat !

It's been a very challenging few months. Had a wonderful Social Media project in deep discussions, and was fairly certain it was going to happen. Out of the blue, it fell apart earlier this week. While I'm extremely disappointed, I must move on. One thing I've learned from personal experiences, is that when something doesn't happen, it seriously hurts for a little while... but, it usually opens the door for something MUCH better. We'll see !

I've also been writing a book about Cruising and, in part, my experiences and passion for Social Media. Unsure if it will ever get it published, but only time will tell.

In the meantime, I will try to be here as much as possible, and I'm thrilled to be back. Sad to see this forum so quiet. Hopefully, we can all change that.

Anyone know who will be the CD on the Silhouette in December 2019 ?

    Hi m8zenblue !

If all goes according to plan, Sue Denning should be the CD on Silhouette in December. IMO, she's a fantastic Cruise Director, and a tremendous asset to Celebrity.

Which sailing are you on ? We're expecting to be on the Dec 1st sailing.

    Hope this helps !

  10. Dear Anne,

Thank you for sharing this tragic news. I'm shocked & deeply saddened to learn of Walt's passing.

For those who may not be aware, Walt, Anne & I Co-moderated this forum for many years. We always worked together in perfect harmony, and it was an honor working with him. I've always held Walt in the highest of regard, as he was always kind and fair to myself, and the entire Cruise Critic Community.

Our wonderful community won't be the same without his presence & brilliance. Sending My thoughts & prayers to his Family & Friends. Rest in peace dear friend, and G-d bless.

MIAMI, Feb. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrity Cruises is taking its already unrivaled vacation experience to greater heights by joining forces with two legendary names in the entertainment and culinary worlds—the iconic American Ballet Theatre and world-renowned Michelin-starred Chef Daniel Boulud. Both of these cutting-edge partnerships will create unforgettable onboard experiences unlike anything at sea.

Experience the interactive Multichannel News Release here: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/8219056-celebrity-cruises-american-ballet-theatre-daniel-boulud/

"Our guests know to expect something unique, upscale and unexpected each time they step onboard.  By partnering with American Ballet Theatre and the world's leading culinary authority, Daniel Boulud, we are creating experiences that won't just meet those expectations — but shatter them," said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises.

"At Celebrity Cruises, we are always looking for new ways to open up the world, not only through the places the brand visits, but also through world-class entertainment and culinary experiences," said Brian Abel, SVP, Hotel Operations, Celebrity Cruises. "I cannot think of better partners than American Ballet Theatre, who will bring the best classical dance experience on board, and Chef Daniel Boulud, a chef that all other chefs admire and respect for hospitality, creativity and excellence both in the kitchen and dining room."

A PARTNERSHIP WORTHY OF A STANDING OVATION
Celebrity is teaming up for a pas de deux with one of the most acclaimed dance companies in the world, American Ballet Theatre. Founded in 1939, American Ballet Theatre has been a pillar in New York City's cultural community and America's artistic landscape for nearly 80 years. American Ballet Theatre has wowed audiences in all 50 states and in 45 countries, performing for nearly 300,000 annually. Now, through an exclusive partnership that's a first in the industry, they're coming aboard Celebrity's ships to bring guests the best classical dance experience at sea.

As part of the partnership, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy exclusive American Ballet Theatre guest performances on select ships, join the dancers for intimate seminars, ballet barre classes, and embark on unforgettable excursions to American Ballet Theatre performances in some of our most dynamic ports of call.

"American Ballet Theatre's mission is to bring the best of ballet to the widest possible audience," said American Ballet Theatre Executive Director Kara Medoff Barnett. "We are thrilled to redefine "widest" to now include audiences at sea! This partnership will allow ABT's remarkable dancers to see the world and will invite Celebrity's guests to discover the magic of ballet."

    THE MICHELIN STARS ARE ALIGNING
Founder of an award-winning restaurant group that spans the world, including his legendary Michelin-starred flagship, DANIEL and Café Boulud, in New York City, Chef Daniel Boulud is a name every foodie knows. Now, he's joining culinary forces with Celebrity and the brand's own Michelin-starred Chef and Associate Vice President of Food and Beverage Operations, Cornelius Gallagher.

As Celebrity's Global Culinary Brand Ambassador, Chef Boulud will design signature dishes for Luminae, the brand's exclusive restaurant for suite class guests. Celebrity is also introducing Chef's Table by Daniel Boulud, complete with a private galley tour and five-course dining experience, plus guest chef appearances on board. The brand is also working closely with Chef Boulud on a culinary mentorship program where the most talented up-and-coming chefs can hone their craft by learning from the best – both in Celebrity's kitchens and in Chef Boulud's.

"I'm excited to embark on this partnership with Celebrity Cruises as we share a common passion for excellence, personalized service and creative cuisine for our guests," said Boulud. "I'm constantly inspired by the local markets in other destinations when I travel around the world and those influences always make their way on to my menus. I look forward to offering cruise guests a taste of my cuisine that complements Celebrity's global offering."

The new experiences with both American Ballet Theatre and Chef Boulud will begin rolling out across the fleet in 2019, starting with Celebrity Summit, then Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Millennium. Did you go? Did it require a smartphone or tablet? Was it held in the Club? What was the temperature in there?

    Hi Cruisestitch,

I did not personally attend Trivia. I only know, because someone on my Twitter feed asked me to inquire. I was advised by Guest Relations and a person that attended Trivia, that it was held at The Club early in the Cruise, but I believe it was held elsewhere later in the sailing. Will try to check the Celebrity dailies later or tomorrow. The person I spoke with (whom attended Trivia), did not mention anything using about a smartphone or tablet. If that's the case, that seems kind of odd to me. Also, lots of chatter on the ship about the lack of a Library. Wonder if Celebrity has any plans to make the addition ?

On the bright side, I was able to get paper straws for my Diet Cokes... 😃 but you always had to ask for it.

I attended the Club for other events and did not notice any temperature concerns. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays !

And who designs a place with so many steps? I can’t believe how inaccessible so many parts of Eden are.  Surely ADA should have come into play at some point in the planning?

    Hi Cruisestitch,

We're just off Edge yesterday. Really liked the ship. Great Cabin. Most public venues were absolutely beautiful - though we were disappointed with the Casino. The S-Class Casino is so much nicer. Raw on Five & Fine Cuts were outstanding. Pier Check in For Suites & Zeniths was absolutely outstanding. Best I've ever experienced ! Loved the 4 Main Dining Rooms, as opposed to one huge MDR. Also liked that Cabins were available as you boarded the ship instead of waiting until 1 pm. If anyone wants me to post a review, please let me know.

Getting back to your comment, yes, there were a number of public areas that were multi-level and required use of steps for total access. Some places like the pool area had lifts to help out, but getting someone to assist with the lift was another story.

The Casino had many places that a scooter could not possibly navigate - but I was told that a crew was coming onboard yesterday to move slots around, to make the Casino more accessible. Sure hope so. Did you happen to see the seats at the Gaming tables ? If you are petite, they are probably fine. If you are a bigger person ? Forget it. And, they easily tip over. Celebrity **must** do something about this immediately ! Someone mentioned that new chairs are "on order". They need to be onboard within days, not weeks or longer.

Please don't get me wrong, I strongly believe that Guests will love Edge, and she will perform extremely well for Celebrity... but I sure wish they made a bigger effort for those who require the use of mobility devices. The good news is... I believe a fair amount of my concerns can be resolved, and will be sure to mention this on my comment card. Hopefully, Celebrity is listening.

    Happy Holidays !

Does the Blue Chip Club offer cruise discounts or cabin upgrades like the Royal Casino program on RCCL?

    Hi TeeRick,

I have not seen Cabin upgrades, though it could be possible via a special promotion, which I receive mailers from time to time. I Blue Chip still offer discounts - but I could be wrong about that, due to recent program changes. If it still exists, you must be at one of the higher levels.

Here's a tip : If you have any perks on your booking... once the rate changes via Blue Chip, you might lose a perk - i.e. booking onboard credit, so it's best to ask *before* applying any discount, as to what might be lost.

For the higher Blue Chip levels, (IMO) the best perk was being offered a comp Specialty Dining for 2 per Cruise, but that perk was recently eliminated (boo hoo !).

I noticed that Mamaday posted the benefits chart in an earlier post. Hope this helps !

Why do you need to contact the Michael’s Club concierge on the ship specifically?  As far as I know their direct contact role is limited to assisting guests already onboard.

    Phil

Agree Phil. I've never had reason to contact the ship in advance.

To the OP I'd highly recommend contacting Captains Club for your Pre-cruise needs. They are very helpful. Hope this helps !

  17. Hi Dave,

We have many X cruises booked, and made final on an X sailing about 2 weeks ago. Never heard of this offer, but it's interesting to say the least. I suspect Celebrity will get takers. If it were offered to me, I would definitely say yes.

Curious to hear from other members !
