  1. Agree with everyone. If they feel that demographics are critical to the survey - why not simply ask the usual 2-3 questions up front, to qualify the person ? Seems pretty obvious to me !

To make folks spend time on a survey, only to dump them out at the end, is downright ridiculous. It certainly gives off a sense of "your opinion isn't important to us". Amazing that such illogical decisons can be made by the folks in charge of this project. Sheesh.

  2. Hi Stateroom_Sailor,

We've sailed on many Celebrity 14 night itineraries dating back to Constellation, and in recent years - on Eclipse. I'm happy to report that we've never experienced anything overly negative from our fellow passengers - and absolutely nothing like what you've described on your Carnival Pride sailing.

I'd book the Celebrity 14 night sailing in a heartbeat. In fact, we have several booked in 2017 and 2018.

    Hope this helps !

  3.

The ship will hold 3373 passengers and is 129,500 GRT.

    Hi DrivesLikeMario,

That's very interesting. According to initial reports, Edge was supposed to be approx. 117,000 GRT, and carry 2,900 guests. Apparently, X bumped up the numbers.

    Thanks for the information !

Here's a link to a Celebrity Edge FAQs from what appears to be 2014 - though perhaps updated over time : http://www.creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Flyers/14041761_CEL_Edge_FAQ.pdf

  4. Where did you think they'd put it in the winter? 7 day Caribbean will give it the most exposure for the most $$$$. Doesn't sound too crazy to me. If they put her on 14 day Asian itineraries everyone would whine about that one too.

    Hi Cruise Junky,

Things rarely amaze me, but yes - I've been amazed at how many are griping about Edge's Caribbean deployment. Really ? Were they expecting Mars ? :)

I've noticed comments about Asia. IMO, that's a huge gamble for a ship that will probably cost about a billion dollars. If they went with Asia and it failed, some would probably be unemployed. Why would they risk it ? Maybe with Beyond or ship # 3... but even then, I wouldn't bet the house on it. Also agree that no matter where she was deployed, many would have something to complain about.

Celebrity did *exactly* what I thought they would do. 7 Day Caribbean from Florida. The safe bet. No shock here, and it's a smart business decision. This is a new class of ship, and they want to get as many guests (both new to Celebrity and loyalists) onboard as possible. Their best chance of attaining that goal, is from a tried and true Cruise home port, and they have it in Port Everglades.

I'd also love to see longer Edge Caribbean itineraries, but I suspect that's not going to happen until later in the Edge cycle - perhaps ship 3 or 4. Time will tell.

  5. All the hype looks tempting' date=' but I'm not interested in a 7-day sailing. We'll wait until the 10-days or longer.[/quote']

I hear you Susan, but new ships in competition to Celebrity rarely offer anything other than 7 night sailings, as that's what is most popular for the masses. I think it's going to take Edge 3 or beyond before we see anything other than 7+ nights.

Believe me, I'd love for it to happen too, as we love 10+ night sailings.

I know it's not perfect, but we solved the problem by booking a B2B for 14 days - but the total price has my wallet screaming OUCH today :). On the bright side, final isn't due for around 18 months.

  6. Hi Everyone,

IMHO, for all the griping many give Celebrity on their website, I think their IT and Web Teams, and everyone for that matter... did a PHENOMENAL job today, and deserve huge Kudos. I tip my cap to them !

I get that it may not have all that everyone hoped for - but IMO, it's far more than I expected, and extremely well done, especially for a ship that's in the early stages of construction.

Hopefully, Celebrity will offer online booking shortly.

  7. Has anyone out there been able to make an Edge booking on line at Celebrity.com?

    Hi Jasm8449,

If at all possible, I suggest calling Captains Club. There's also a "chat with us" bubble on the lower right hand corner of the Celebrity website. See the link below. Perhaps they can assist.

    Hope this helps !

  8. Not sure about this but thought I would pass along that when i booked (by phone), I was told that the Concierge class and AQ would not have the infinite veranda. Seems odd to me but the fellow was very clear on that.

Wow, that's interesting. I will inquire. Curious if I hear the same, or something different.

  9. I'm hoping that Celebrity cruisers move to the Edge in droves, leaving 1,500 cabins available on other ship with prices to match my budget. (In Canadian funds even) ;p

    Hi Arno,

Ha ! Many others are likely rooting for the same thing - though I doubt Celebrity feels the same way .

All kidding aside, I suspect that Edge may take away from from some bookings on S-Class, and possibly a greater quantity on the M-Class, but I suspect that any softness will be short-lived. I suspect much of it may depend upon the initial reviews from the first E-Class guests.

BTW, has anyone called Edge, the E-Class yet ? LOL

  10. If in fact there is a MDR. Several sources, who were correct about things announced told me that there may not be an MDR. At this point some changes are still possible based on feedback and difficulties that are encountered during the build. As I've stated far too many times this is a copy cat industry and the emphasis has shifted from "loyalty" to "high margin" passengers.

Interesting Orator. If you look at Deck 3, that sure looks like a MDR at the Aft - but then again - that's purely speculation. It will be interesting to see if they do something radical by eliminating the MDR. I sure hope the MDR remains. If not, that may prove to be a deal-breaker for us.

  11. One more question. For those of you who called to book with Celebrity directly, how far out are they booking Edge cruises? In other words, can you book January or February yet?

Yes, you can book January & February 2019. It seems the latest Edge sailing available at the moment is 4/14/19. Hope this helps !

  12.

Also, can anyone please explain how the balcony works? I just cannot work it out.

I will post on this thread, on 12/16/18 - when I'm onboard the ship. Seriously, I'm not entirely certain, but "glass doors" were mentioned in the presentation. Whatever it is, it looks interesting and surely innovative.

  13. I got in however it doesn't show the decks where the restaurants, shops, and casino are located. Says coming soon.

Yup. Most of the public venues are absent. The deck plans pretty much reflect what was mentioned at today's reveal.

Being that most of the "coming soon" deck plan locations are on Decks 4 and 5 (and Deck 3 aft), and, it's where many of the venues are located on the S-Class, - that's likely where we will find the above locations. Perhaps the MDR will also be on Decks 3 and 4 - but it's all speculation for now. Time will tell.
