I noticed that too about the WOW bands.  They were hit and miss when trying to use them on the slot machines.  Other than that, I really liked the option.  The last time I went to Disney World, we used the bands too and it was so much easier than dealing with a pass.

The slots attendance told us it was a technical issue with some of the bands. My spouses worked fine each and every time though.

  2. We used the WOW bands on the Royal Harmony last year. Easy to wear and use to open cabin doors, make purchases, or get drinks.. The only thing that it was finicky in working correctly with was the slot machines. I'd love to see Carnival integrate it on the main stream line.

  3. No drink limits like in Carnival (15 alcoholic beverages a day, unlimited non alcoholic drinks).

Pools are open while in port.

The MTD time of 8:30 is probably the only time that was left to make a reservation for. Some nights we make a reservation (show nights), and others we go to dinner at our convenience. It may be a short wait, but nothing more than 15 minutes (usually). We go to the dining room a little earlier (10-15 minutes) to account for the wait.

We got one Surf and Stream package to share between us. I usually don’t check emails or social media while on vacation, the better half does. I only used it to stream some shows and the Dreamworks Parade on FB to give family members a chance to check out Royal’s activities compared to Carnival.

You can can get coffee from room service, Cafe Promenade or Starbucks ($).

  4. Not on the Harmony, but our first time on the Oasis we were on Deck 14 (Central Park BL). At 6:00am you could hear them moving deck chairs around (scraping against the pool floor). Our next cruise on the Oasis we were on Deck 12, and didn’t hear a thing. We’re going on the Harmony next month and selected deck 12 to avoid any noise issues.

  5. I was watching this mornings Port Canaveral Commission Meeting. There's plenty of construction progress on the Cruise Terminal 3 (CT3) from the waterside view, which we haven't seen before. The concrete panel walls are formed/constructed onsite and and raised into position. The concert wall panels have recessed electrical conduit built into the walls, along with the connections for attaching structural steel. The two wooden boxes in photo #6 are for the elevator shafts.. Once the forms have cured, Schindler Elevator Company will come in and start as build work. There's also a tremendous amount of work being completed on the new bulkhead. The terminal is slated for completion/opening May 18, 2020 (if no major delays). Cruise berth completion December 20, 2019. Passenger boarding bridge components completion November 2019.

I jiust went through a few threads on the FlyWheel bikes and cleats here on CC and it looks like theyve changed the bikes and shoes. There's no information on what type of cleats or shoes, but landside FlyWheel have been using Look cleats and shoes recently. I dont know if this is specific to new bike models though.

  7. Does anyone know if the stationary bikes in the fitness area on Harmony of the Seas are spin class level with clip on pedals or are they just standard stationary bikes. My husband is a serious cyclist and wants to know if he should pack his Shimano style cleats. Thanks!!

I'm a cyclist also, and have used the free and paid cycling/spinning bicycles in the gym on the Oasis. The regular stationary bikes in the gym/fitness center do not take Shimano SPD or SPD-SL cleates. The paid cycling/spinning classes (FlyWheel program) do have clipless pedals that require SPD cleats, if I remember right. They also have cycling shoes with the appropriate cleats. If he wants to take a class and doesnt want to bring his shoes, I would suggest he book the class or classes early so that he can have his choice of shoe size. I wear a size 47/48 and they had one or two of those available, with some of the smaller sizes having one pair.

  8. The Europe sailings are always behind those for the rest of the world.

Each year the sailings are pretty much the same, so i'd say there is every chance it will be included.

It seems like my call to Princess was forwarded up the chain in customer service. I was contacted yesterday and informed the European sailings for 2020 would’ve published late summer or early fall.

  9. I don't think the schedule for 2020 in Europe for Princess has been released yet.

Thank you for the response. I was hoping that they didn’t discontinue this itinerary. Some of the representatives at Princess thought it would be released by now, but I guess I’ll have to wait a little while longer.

    Thanks again,

    p.

  10. I’m looking to do the European Explorer cruise in the Spring or Fall of 2020. I don’t see it on the Princess site, and the Princess agents don’t the information as of yet if this itinerary will be offered.

Can anyone recommend a similar itinerary for Princess in Europe during that time? Thanks

  11. Thanks for the trip report and information. I’m Platinum on Carnival, and will be the same on Royal my next cruise. I’m looking into Princess for a European cruise in a year or two since they are the only cruiseline that has the itinerary that I’m really interesting in (Rome to London). I know it will be a big difference from the two others, and reports like these help bring the cruiseline into perspective. I am probably going to do a Caribbean sailing with Princess before the European cruise just to get familiar with the Line. Thanks again all for the reports and information.

  12. That’s cutting it close if something would happen, such as delayed clearance of the ship. Even though we’ve done quick debarkations in the past, we try to get a flight at noon now. The tho guy of ending vacation with the stress of trying to make a flight is just not worth it.

  13. @sjcruiser,

Yes I know you have not sailed with Princess before this. I have just booked my first cruise with them myself.

I was commenting on the fact that one of the other posters said that Princess gave credit for previous cruises on other Carnival Corporation lines but I don't think that is true since there is nowhere to give that info on the Princess site.

I agree that Princess is offering some good perks for booking now!

No worries!! It would be good if they did, and I forgot to ask the agent if they did. I have some time before the cruise becomes available that I’m really interesting in, but there’s a short cruise to Mexico and Amber Cove that I may book for February or March. Thanks again for all you help and information.

  14. Hmm?

I have not seen anywhere on the Princess site to show that you are a past passenger on the other Carnival Corporation lines??

I am not aware of getting a discount unless you are a past Princess passenger.

    Where is this found??

I have not sailed on Princess before. I have sailed on Carnival, Just coming off the Vista this past weekend. With the current Anniversary sale going on, I may book a cruise before this one to try the line out beforehand. Some of the deals are very tempting when you include the onboard credits and pricing.

  15. I would highly recommend per-booking tours to the Vatican/Museums and the Coliseum. I would also recommend going to the basement of the Coliseum where they kept the tigers. We used http://www.tickitaly.com to pre-book our tours and got to skip the lines. What other ports are you going to visit? I would be glad to give you hints if we have been to any of those ports. We almost always use Trip Advisor as our go to for looking at private tours and never had a problem. Another suggestion is to plan each day so you don't have to walk miles and miles, Rome is a huge city and everything is not close to each other. We have been to Rome 2 times, and one day we walked 8 miles!! We love Rome!

Thanks for the information. We plan on pre-booking all of our excursions, and a friend recommended using a “Butler” for the Vatican. I guess they have an inside connection to avoid lines and crowds, and can get you access to some of the areas other tourist aren’t allowed.

  16. We did the European Explorer cruise several years ago and it was an amazing trip. If you want some light reading that may or may not correspond with the trip you decide upon, you might check out my review - it's also very good for any night you have insomnia.

I started reading the review and say that there was 124 replies, so it’ll be my morning reading with coffee!!! Thanks for the review, and I’m enjoying it so far. My family use to think I was crazy splitting clothes between luggage, but several lists bags on our August cruise proved my point that things can, and do happen!!
