  1. Thank you for the detailed review and glad you are both well.  Nice to know that the staff  took care of you and your son.  I actually just tested positive for Covid yesterday. I managed to avoid it for 3 years! I tested on a whim because these cold symptoms feel like they are on steroids.  I seem to be passed the bad stuff.  The loss of taste and smell is the worst though!

  2. Ambulatory Accessible Stateroom: This stateroom is designed for use by guests with mobility limitations, who do not require the regular use of a wheelchair, scooter or other similar assistive devices. For example, it is ideal for guests who only use an assistive device (like a cane or walker) for traversing longer distances, and who may benefit from certain accessible features like grab bars, to assist with balance.

This is what the description on the website states.  You may need to call the Accessibility department to get dimensions of the doorways for the wheelchair.  It is usually recommended to get a fully accessible cabin if the use of a wheel chair is needed.

I just took a look at the deck plan and it appears there are are only the AAC cabins on this ship.  I would call them to see which cabins best suit your needs.  If you need general information about accessibility before you cruise, or have an ADA complaint, please call our Guest Access team at 1-800-438-6744 ext.70025,

Ninjacat, thank you for posting.  In May I will be on the Sunshine with my 86 year old father.  He has limited mobility and benefits from a wheelchair for long distances.  Do you have any tips on what can be done to make his experience as good as possible?  Did you alert Carnival ahead of time of your mother’s needs?  How do I get express service / assistance getting on and off the ship?  Thank you for any help you can give me!

f you need general information about accessibility before you cruise, or have an ADA complaint, please call our Guest Access team at 1-800-438-6744 ext.70025, or 1800 072 670 ext. 70025 if calling from Australia. You can also email us at access@carnival.com. Carnival's designated ADA Responsibility Officer is Vicky Rey, Vice President, Guest Care & Communications.

This is from their Guests With Disabilities page at Carnival.com.

I highly recommend you call this department pre cruise to discuss any needs you may have.  They are extremely helpful and are there to be sure you have your needs met. Simply provide your booking number so they can add any and all notes to the booking!  Have a great time!!!

We are sailing out of Charleston for the first time onMarch 7 and I was wondering how you found where to park. Can we put Charleston terminal in our Google maps ? I want to use the map to get us from here in TN to the port, but not sure what to put as our destination. Thanks for any info. We will certainly have to wait for a shuttle, because there is no way my husband could walk that far.

  5. We are considering booking the Sunshine in June.  There are a few aft Ocean View available.  I have been reading that this ship in general seems to have more rocking movement than others.  Has anyone stayed in an aft ocean view Main deck and what was your experience with the motion of the ship?    I am not super prone to motion sickness, but do not want to be miserable the whole cruise.  We usually aim for mid ship, but these cabins look cool to my son so thought I would get some input before booking.  Thanks in advance for any advice!

  6. Any idea when Carnival will open excursions for the Private Cabana at Mahogany Bay for June 2023?  I know it is far away, but curious as to if anyone knows when they open the excursions.  Currently not listed on My Planner for the cruise.  I understand there are only 8 Private Cabanas so we want to be sure we can book one.  TIA!!

  7. Good Morning Cruise Critic Fam! We are headed out on the April 20, 2019 sailing of Brilliance. We have a 5D Balcony category stateroom on deck 8. (8142) Does anyone have any pictures or video of this category? Upper Pullman and Love seat convertible bed. Curious of how it looks with beds and such.

    Thank you in advance!

  8. My wife and I ( mid 30's) usually do all inclusive's but decided to try a cruise and take along our 4 year old daughter. We are doing the 5 day to the Bahamas. We have an ocean view room, are going to buy the cheers program ( we like to drink ) and the bubbles program for our daughter. We booked the early dinner time. Have booked day passes at the RIU in Nassau and were planning on staying on the boat in Freeport except to maybe go out and grab lunch and drinks. Questions can we bring on a extension cord/power strip? Just like all inclusive's does over tipping the bar and wait staff with cash get you VIP service. On cheers can u buy drinks out side of the program as long as you haven't hit 15 yet? Say I get to 13 and its early can i buy a few and have them not count toward my 15. Smoking? Where can you smoke? Does the casino pay out decent compared to casinos in the states? What entertainment/shows are the best? Do they have any that kids would enjoy? Is the kids program fun for the kids? Is there a fridge in the room? We already ordered water and a bottle of booze. Any answers or tips would be greatly appreciated. Also any advice would be great

I have heard tale of power strips being confiscated so that is a risk.

There are designated smoking areas around the ship. Somewhere near the casino and a particular side of the open deck. No Smoking allowed in cabins, including balcony.

Camp Carnival was great for our 8 year old. He did not want to hang with us much while we were aboard. The Hasbro Game show was fun for the kids.

There is no fridge in the room. There is an ice bucket that your Steward will keep filled for you.

Bring nesting luggage and store it under your bed.

Bring an over the door shoe hanger to store toiletries and such....no storage in bathroom.

    Hope this helps!

  9. Hi All! Has anyone taken advantage of the tours offered by MANY right off the ship in Nassau? I have been there several times and have never taken anyone up on them. We are considering doing this when we are there in November. Can anyone weigh in on this? TIA!!:)

  10. We sailed her January of this year. We got to the parking lot around 10:30 or 10:45. There were porters in the parking lot. Tell them you are FTTF and they will put a sticker on your bags. There is a separate line for FTTF and Diamond & Platinum for check in and we sat in that seperate area for boarding. They called your status as it was time to board....Diamond, Platinum, Suites, FTTF. They started boarding at 11:30 and we were on looking for our cabin shortly after.
