  1. I emailed him and unfortunately he was booked solid since we're only 2 weeks out. I definitely still appreciate the tip though, I will keep it in mind next time we go on a cruise.:D

    Bummer! And your most welcome!

  2. Thanks for the review, we are going on the Glory very soon and we're SO excited! I am very interested in this tour. How many hours did you do or is the default 4? Did you pick what you toured or did you have the guide pick for you? Also, (last question... for now :)) how far in advance did you book? Thanks!!!

It is a 4 hour minimum, we ended up doing 5 hours. I emailed him and gave him a little background about us, and what we would like to do. I didn't have anything specific, I just went with it. So when he picked us up, he ran by a few things to us, and it sounded good, so we agreed. Along the way he gave us a few options, again we went with it. We were not disappointed:) I emailed him about a month in advance. He says he has bookings as far advanced as next April (that is not saying there is nothing available this year) ..hope it works out for you!

  3. We were on this cruise also and I have to agree that it was a fantastic time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food staff really stood out and made our dining experience special every night. San Juan was a very fun time and really enjoyed Grand Turk. Looking to book our next cruise already.

Us too! Looking at our pictures, while working :(

  4. We were on that cruise too and had a fantastic time! First time on Glory and loved the upgrades! We had a fantastic wait staff! The best ever! I would highly recommend the Glory!

I agree with you, everyone was awesome! Loved the Glory!

  5. We are on the same cruise in Oct. Can you remember on the new menus if there is a fish or seafood entree each night, we have someone traveling with us who doesn't eat any meats.

Yes they have a seafood item every nite, I know Salmon was a regular I saw it every night. ( it was good) No shortage of seafood :)

  6. Thanks for the review! We will be on the Glory Saturday with the same itinerary;)

Have fun! Another FYI didn't realize this to the last day, we spent a lot of time on Serenity deck and always left to go to lido to grab a bite. We didn't notice they had turkey wrap that came in a container with pretzels and a salad it was good. There was three other menu items , I think one was a Cesar salad or chicken Cesar I forgot the other 2..

  7. Thanks for the review! I am considering this cruise so it is helpful. Can you tell me the name of your tour operator in SJ? Did you get to make any stops to explore on foot (at forts, etc.)?

Glad you had a great time!

Carlos his vans are charlie 1 and charlie 2. We did stop at the rain forest walked around for a bit, had the option to stop at a beach, we did. He dropped us off then we walked down the beach and met him. We went to a local artist and had a look around. We stopped at a community center for a bathroom break, and there was a huge cave that we walked threw (forgot the name) but it's protected. We stopped at San Cristobal and walked around, he came with us and basically guided us and gave us the history. With the short amount of time we saw a lot. We got dropped off about an hour before we boarded we walked around old town. Perfect day :)

  8. Just got off on Sunday, and wanting to be back on already ...

Started off our trip by staying two days in Miami. We ended up taking a taxi because some of the transportation that was recommended on here no longer go to South Beach taxi was $84, split between 4 it wasn't too bad. We stayed at Hotel Shelley, small boutique hotel, clean, price was right and was close to the beach.

Prior to the cruise I received an email from Carnival saying not to come to port till 1:30 because the previous cruise stopped in Belize and clearance would take longer. We had FTTF soon we decided we would grab some coffee and leave at check out. Worked out fine we were at the port about 11:45 and boarded by 12:15, dropped our stuff off and was on the Lido by 12:30. I loved that our room was ready and we were able to drop off our stuff. We did receive our luggage rather quickly, so we were able to unpack all before the muster drill. It really felt like we had a whole day extra.

Half Moon Cay- always like this relaxing beach day, rented a clam shell 19.95 really didn't need it though, weather was cloudy and did rain towards the end. When the sun peeked through it was warm but we enjoyed the water. The buffet was good jerk chicken, hamburgers, cold salads, fruit and dessert. Liked that we had FTTF and was able to tender first, glad we skipped the line. Coming back though it took forever. 2 Tenders running but the whole process was slow. I've been here three times prior (no FTTF) and it did seem like it took longer. When coming back noticed there was only one (not sure what you call them) kiosk I guess:confused: that was taking cards, so the line was running extremely slow, made everyone a little antsy. All in all a great beach day.

St. Thomas- took the advice from fellow posters here and took the ferry to St. John's. We loved it! Down side the travel time..we were docked in Crown Bay ..plenty of opening air taxis ($11 each way), might of took a little longer to get there because our taxi felt like it had very little to no power, according to the passenger in front the taxi just went for service the day prior. uuumm yeah..lol there was traffic but not too bad, made it to Red Hook about 30 min later. Purchased our round trip ticket ($14 round trip) took about 20 min maybe to get to St. John once we got there, we took another taxi to Cinnamon Bay. Taxi I believe was $7. This beach was beautiful! Half Moon Cay has been my #1 but it was knocked to second after going here. There was plenty of shade, a little store on site, a restaurant, and a little store on beach rents out snorkel gear. (not sure of the price, but I know you had to leave a deposit on top of the fee) water was amazing. Was not crowded at all, everyone was pretty spaced out. We stood about an hour and a half here, so we can grab a bite to eat closer to the ferry. Ferry leaves on the hour, so we took the 3 o'clock ferry. Made it back to our dock about 4:15 hung out a bit, and went back on board right on time, it began to pour. It rained pretty heavy, lightning and all. By the time we left it stopped.

San Juan- had the best tour ever, here in San Juan. He is currently #38 on trip advisor of things to do in San Juan. We came here before and did the tours in front of the dock. But after research on here and Trip Advisor, I was so lucky to find him. He gave us a little bit of everything, rain forest, art, history, beach, and food all in the short amount of time we were there in a comfortable van complete with air conditioning, snacks, and beverages. Bonus was we didn't even have to take our camera, he took pictures of our group and the sites we visited and emailed them shortly after. Definitely above and beyond our expectations.

Grand Turk- We actually docked here about an hour and a half early because of a medical emergency. Hope whatever happened, that the person is okay. So we were off by 10am.Plenty of chairs. We stopped at Margaritville first, nice pool, music. Two drinks $43..yeah umm..jello shots $1..After a bit of sipping on that drink, we headed to Jack Shack. Had a $9 drink and some delicious jerk chicken. Also had our free shot of rum. Hung out there for a bit, then came back to Margaritaville. Great day!

We choose to do self assist on Sunday, we had a 10:26 am flight out of FLL. We were down with our luggage and waiting area by 7:00 am off by 7:20, in a taxi and $71 later at the airport by 8;30. We had plenty of time. I think that having the FTTF and doing self assist that it worked for us. Of course there is always that what if..

I have to stay our room steward Super Duper Dave was awesome. He always kept our room clean. There was four of us. He kept our ice chest full of ice and if we needed anything he was there. We left him extra because he was that good! We had a balcony on the spa deck. Two twin beds, a pull down and the couch as a bed. Worked for us, always in the room at different times. Spa was literally around the corner, so we showered there, much more shower room. Our balcony was not covered, so when you looked up you can see whoever was there. Didn't bother us and was rather quite here. Would get this deck again.

I cruised the Glory before the upgrades. I have to say I like what they did. Guys burger was good, liked the topping bar, so you can add what you want on your burger. The Sea day brunch was good..Huevos rancheros and the mac and cheese with bacon was my favorite. Our dining room experience was good. Seemed like they were short team members, because our guy was always running (and by the looks everybody else), but he was good. Liked the carafe of water on the table. Family style calamari was good. When ordering your main entree, I liked that you can pick your sides..but they put in separate dishes, too bad they can't add on the plate, it makes for a crowded table. Everything I had was good, with the exception of the filet mignon (no flavor) and the red snapper (too fishy) I liked the salmon so I gave this a try eehhh..can never go wrong with warm chocolate melting cake. And who knows maybe the stuff I didn't like was part of a bad batch.

The shows, probably the only one we enjoyed was the Honeymoon one, with passengers that participated. We saw the Motown and the Diva shows, in my opinion..boring. I loved the comedians, we went to the adult showings..they were good and looked forward to the shows.

I have to say I've been on Carnival Cruises before and the cruise director Everson Bevelle I think is the best. He was so full of energy, funny and engaging. Seemed to interact with passengers a lot. He just seemed at ease and truly enjoying his time with everyone.

I will definitely do FTTF again, In my opinion worth it..didn't receive evil glares from anyone. It was nice to skip the long line at the desk..I do not have any of the fun times , sorry..Had a great trip and just wanted to say thanks for all the answer to my questions on these boards, it definitely helped!:)

  9. For me, my arrival time is largely based on the checkout time at the hotel. Sleep in, get a nice leisurely breakfast, one last walk on the beach, then check out and get a cab to the port. Arriving after 10:30 usually gives everyone leaving time to get off the ship and mostly clear the port. Arriving before 11:00 gets us through the lines before the shuttle busses start arriving. In most cases boarding usually started between 11:30 and 11:45.

That sounds about right :) we have Fttf so I'm not too worried..just glad to be going on vacation!

  10. What answer do you want? Show up as you please but the delays can be real, lengthy and not under control of Carnival. The amenities are few in port. So if you show up, ate delayed, no complaints..

I just wanted to see if anyone received a message like this and what their experience was, I'll be on vacation and I'll take everything with a grain of salt :)

  11. Hi everyone,

so just received an email from Carnival stating that they will not start boarding till 1 on Sunday, the Carnival Glory that is coming from Belize is expected to run behind schedule (because of additional document screening measures), and that check in for us is scheduled between 1-3. Has this happened to anyone? Should we just not come till 1 and hang out in Miami still? Do they just say that to stop a whole heap of people trying to board at once? We do have fttf :)
