I just saw posts on Facebook that the scheduled Transatlantic crossing has been cancelled (hopefully rescheduled). Any news on this? I am on the Dec 2 sailing.

We ate at Marmalade, mentioned in the article, when we were in OSJ March 13. What a very unique experience. We'd taken extra cash on the trip deciding to put it in the hands of the locals rather than through some octopus organization.
Pehaps your husband can speak to something that bothered us on the trip. We visited OSJ, St Thomas and St Marten. In St Thomas we found several shops accepting only cash, claiming their card readers were down. In one case I noticed the reader wasn't even plugged in. Lying to my face cost that guy a $240 sale. Getting receipts was also like pulling teeth. We were finally told by a kiosk operator that some businesses were doing that to avoid declaring revenue and supposedly qualify for more FEMA funds. Unfortunately, it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case.
His involvement was helping brick and mortar businesses assess their damage and apply for low interest SBA loans to rebuild and repair. Can’t speak to FEMA funding

My DH was there for four months with the SBA/FEMA disaster recovery team. They are ready and really need our patronage. NBC just released an article about this today https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/puerto-rico-crisis/puerto-rico-tourists-boost-recovery-though-some-still-remain-dark-n861866

Consider departing from San Juan And book a week or longer cruise. You will not have as many spring breakers as shorter cruises out of FL

Yes I did it but not by choice - when my luggage was lost. (Found it after we got home). Bought things on the ship and in ports. Your wife will kill you for just having the thought however. Good luck with that!

Some disembarkation advice: Get a porter. They take you around all the lines, straight to a immigration agent and you are out within minutes. If you have any pre-cruise questions that I can try to answer, just ask. Have a great cruise.
YES!!!! THIS! I was just on the Epic last week. If anyone does the easy walk off disembarking with their own bags, take advantage of the porters! For just a tip they will circumvent the long, winding customs inspection line and whisk you right out to the customs agent. What would have taken an hour took all of two minutes!

My son is almost 9, has a black belt in taekwondo, plays on football, baseball and basketball teams and is an experienced snow skiier and rock climber (they Wyoming kind as well as the indoor man-made type). He is more than capable but is small for his age.
However, I totally respect their decision to stick to the height requirement if they must and would never argue the matter with RCCL. I just wondered if any of you experienced your child being denied based on height alone.
Thanks everyone for your replies!

How strict are the at enforcing the 52" minimum height requirement? My son is 50-1/2 but physically is very capable of handling the activity. Do they enforce it or do they let some who are "almost" go through?

Has anyone been invited and activated as a Club Royale member during a cruise - where you can use the benefits right away on the current cruise instead of waiting until the next one?

Thank you for the info and the photos. Unless I get an upgrade fairy visit  I will report back on 1400 aboard Independence and how we enjoyed it!
-
I switched 1402 to 1400 to get more cabin space, but now see the balcony has a partial wall? Did I make a mistake and give up my view?
-
Or with the wrong person wiping out it can freighten little children! Do a search on YouTube and watch some of the wipeouts!

Yep!

one piece swimsuit, board shorts with surf shirt or at the very least a t-shirt over swimsuit.

Just a bit of updated info.... the previous link of prohibited items posted by NN is outdated - here is a current link that lists clothes steamers as prohibited!

Where is your review!? :p I would love to hear about your trip and what you experience aboard the Indy...
-
Another thought - you might want to visit your roll call and put it out there that you are looking for something else. This is how I scored my aft cabin on Deck 10 aboard the Independence. A fellow passenger had it but let me know he was releasing it that day - if I wanted it, it would appear as available at 4:00 pm - I was on the phone with my TA at exactly 4:00 and got it.
Worth a try! People will be canceling closer to final payment date.
-
You did get one of the most highly coveted cabins on a ship - for some people, aft is the only way to go! I have an aft booked on my 2009 cruise and am looking forward to the privacy, extra balcony space and unlimited, unobstructed views.

For the record, it costs a LOT more to have your laundry done for you vs. doing it yourself on board.

Do any of the Carnival Dream pools have zero entry, stairs/steps entry (vs ladders) or mobility pool lifts?
