Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Our itinerary was US Pacific Coastal so we didn’t go to Cabo. When our dining room server gave us the menus he advised there was an off menu special that night. We only went to the Dining Room twice so I don’t know if it was a regular thing.
  2. We sure did!! It was I Made who knew our names and cabin numbers on the first day. He was the best beverage server we have ever had and one of the reasons we spent so much time in the Passport Bar.
  3. Thank you, dazey! Since we loved the Eclipse so much more than we expected I can't wait to try the Edge class and see if our love translates 😍
  4. My husband and I recently went on our first Celebrity cruise - a 7 night US Pacific Coastal sailing on the Eclipse. This was our 28th cruise and I was very excited to finally try Celebrity. We have cruised primarily NCL but also several Royal, Carnival, Holland, Disney and Princess. After an unpleasant experience on the NCL Prima earlier this year we knew we needed to make a move to another line – we really enjoyed Princess and thought we would give Celebrity a try as well to see which would better suit us. I read a lot of posts before our sailing so I knew there might be some small issues with the condition of the Eclipse due to the cancellation of her dry dock and that like all other lines some adjustments have been made to the onboard experience in an effort to recover financially. Embarkation at San Pedro was fast and easy. I appreciated the small touches they make on the arrival deck to welcome you and set a tone for the vacation to come (roll out a runner, line the area with plants, etc). They immediately checked our card and sent us to our muster station to complete the process. We were done in 2 minutes and moved on to drop our luggage in our cabin. This is a fantastic perk as we travel with carry on only and like to bring our luggage onboard with us – it was really appreciated by our group. We booked an inside guarantee and I was planning to use the Celebrity Move Up to get a better Cabin. We were assigned Cabin 3148 which is just down the hall from the Grand Foyer and Passport Bar. Our friends were assigned the cabin next to us and we were really intrigued by what it would be like to be just a few steps from a bar, entertainment and the Dining Room so we decided not to apply for Move Up. We LOVED the location. The Celebrity inside cabins are spacious and have a nice sitting area, being just steps from Passport took our trip to the next level and I’m not sure I will be happy with another location in the future. The cabin was in good shape, but the ships age is showing in many areas (particularly furniture and carpeting) and she really deserves an upgrade. Overall, we loved everything about the ship layout and design – we heard that she will get that needed drydock in 2025 and I can’t wait to sail her once she is refreshed. The ship capacity is 2850 and we were told by staff that our sailing was at about 2750. We were amazed at how uncrowded it felt onboard. We never had a problem finding a spot to sit in a lounge, always had quick service at the bars and although the buffet was busy at times, we always found a seat. The service was exceptional. Probably the best we have had to date. There wasn’t 5 minutes that went by that a staff member didn’t ask if we needed a drink or if they could just help us with anything. After our recent Prima cruise this was so amazing. To us it seems one area Celebrity has not made any cuts is the number of staff. On the first day a server at Passport knew our names and cabin numbers so we didn’t need our cards to order drinks and we were greeted by name every time we walked through. The only small disappointment for our group was the main dining room menus. If you have a member that doesn’t each seafood or really like steak the new menus can be a challenge – we also found the appetizer choice limited. We only ended up going twice as the first night 2 of us ordered the Pork Schnitzel, and it was very poorly prepared so we couldn’t finish it. The 2nd time there was an off menu special Beef Wellington and it was very tasty. We had some late nights in Port so we were able to eat dinner off the ship a couple of nights and when we went to the Buffet we found lots to choose from and most things were very well prepared. We also really enjoyed Sushi on 5. We tried the Mast Grill for lunch, and everyone was happy with their meal. There was always something to do and so much live music. Honestly, we spent most of our time in the Passport Bar and enjoyed any entertainment that was happening in the Grand Foyer but if you wanted to stay busy there was no shortage of activities. So, in closing we LOVED Celebrity!! I liked it a bit better than Princess even though this was a much older ship. I want to thank everyone who posted information and reviews which helped me prepare. Happy Sailing, Julia
  5. Does anyone know what the "Dinner for Two at Moderno or La Cucina" will be replaced with as a Latitude reward on Prima? I assume one will be Los Lobos but wasn't sure if the second option will be Onda or Food Republic. Thanks, Julia
