  1. I too am sailing on the Magic (July 30). I have never made a specific request from Maitre D in all of my cruises - however, due to some recent events, I would really love to have a table for 2 for my sister and me. We are in late seating and I emailed the Maitre D last week and requested a booth (or table) for two.

I received an email response within 30 minutes (I had heard you rarely hear back from them). He was very nice and said that it would be taken care of. He also said that he was going on vacation in 4 days, but his "colleague will take care of my request, no problem."

For those of you who have done this before (made an email request), do you think I should forward his email response to the new Maitre D a week or so before the cruise to ensure that he is aware of the request?

Like I said, I've never made a request before & as you can see from my signature, I've been on many CCL cruises (besides being an ex-crewmember), so I'm not sure what I should do. This has just been a very difficult last few months (I was the driver in an accident that killed a high school student who ran in front of my vehicle), and I just really need this time alone with my sister to try to relax.

I appreciate any advise you guys may have.

    Thanks,

I don't have any advice but I am so sorry for what you are going through.

    Take care!!

  2. I love the spa area and everything they have there! Not only is there the thalassotherapy pool that is so relaxing but there is also the aromatherapy steam rooms and the heated lounges that are so relaxing! Also, the showers (which anyone can use) are also larger than the cabins. I get FTTF so I can make sure to get the pass for the week because it is well worth it! The fee I paid is I think 149 for the week. You can get more info by doing a search here or going on the Carnival site. Have a great cruise!!

  3. Our first cruise we just woke up in the ports. Our last one, even if my wife didn't want to get up, I was up on deck early watching us pull into port and dock. While catching the sunrise was nice, it was really neat watching them maneuver into port, the other boats darting around. I think I'm looking forward to that on this trip more than most things!

Sounds like fun! Enjoy your cruise!

  4. Hi Portland Pete

Suggestion if you like taking pictures...if you are up for sunrise there is almost nobody on deck, except a handful of other people hoping for a beautiful sunrise. You can get your sunrise pictures and anything else you want with nobody else around. That's also a good time to go to guest services if necessary.

Great suggestion!! I am up always by 5 and sit out on the balcony and take photos but I never thought about walking around the ship at the time. Love the quietness in the morning. So think I might try that the next cruise!

  5. How much is the Spa pass? What do it include? a site explaining this, where? We're in a regular, not Spa, cabin on the Lido deck. TIA!

I think it is 149 for the whole week and well worth it. We always stay on Lido deck because we love it there and my DH does not use the spa. In the spa there is the Thalassotherapy pool, various steam rooms, saunas and heated tile recliners which are so relaxing. After I use the spa I go to the showers that are larger than in the cabin and shower there before going back to the cabin. Go to the carnival website for more info. Have a great cruise!!

  6. I prepay everything for all our vacations! We are cruising in October so cruise, tips, FTTF, cheers, water, cruise cash, excursions, hotel, car rental and airfare 6 months out all paid up. We are going on vacation next week to Florida and flights, hotel, car rental, GC to restaurants were paid for 6 months ahead of time too. I always have two vacations paid for. We have a separate account just for vacations but we never use it. I like to prepay out of regular "bill" money. It just makes me feel good so it's worth it to me. My husband doesn't understand this and would pay when due but I handle the money!:):):)

  7. The entertainment at night is pretty important to us so not really happy about this! We saw Consuelo Ivey on the Breeze and really liked her. She did not talk much and was great. Big crowds and dancing every night. We want to hear music and not talking. Are there any other musicians playing? What about Red Frog Pub or comedians?? Thanks so much!
