    Thanks for the information.

I understand that Azamara has found the culprit for all this sickness. They picked up a supply of bottled water in the Johannesburg port and as of this past weekend they disposed of all bottled water. This is an unlikely source that was overlooked because bottled water is supposed to be free of all impurities, but this is good news.

  2. We will be on the azamara pursuit departing from Lisbon and we're going there a day early so we're looking for some hotel suggestions. We would like to be close to the port. I know Lisbon has a lot of hills and then the terrain flattens out toward the ocean. We would like to stay in this flat area because my wife has mobility problems. Thanks.

  3. The Meet & Greets on RCCL were always held the first day at sea which worked out fine. I organized one on the Independence of the seas out of Puerto Rica that was held at 10 am on the first day at sea and there were at least 80 or more people who attended. After the M & G, 40 participants including their spouses and friends went down to the casino where I held a slot pull and 2 of the people hit the slot for $400.00 and $600.00 so it was a very good day and a great cruise.

If you've planned a M&M recently, I'd appreciate your help. We have 24 people (so far) on the Dec. 12 Onward sailing who would like to get together.

    Who did you contact shoreside?

What time did you choose?  After sailaway, during sailaway, first sea day?

What location were you given? Did you have a choice? (The Library on Onward is gone.)

Of the people who signed up, how many attended?

Was there someone to serve drinks, snacks?

I'd appreciate help with any details I've failed to ask about.😃

    Thanks.

Toni, you're doing an excellent job and since I've organized so many of these, I would be glad to help you out in any way. When the ship was handling this the only thing, I had to do was put a list of attendees together. The ship did the rest. I will help any way I can.

I have to admit….a lot of my posts have been negative lately!  I have been pretty upset with the CEO and her lack of communication.

I was just looking at another social media website.  It showed pictures from a recent cruise (to Greece, I think) with blocks of local honey being featured at a brunch onboard.  These are the things that make Azamara so special!  No other cruise line does this, that I have been on anyway, other than Azamara.  My DH and I were just talking about this the other night.  These are things that drew us to Azamara in the first place!  I fear that Azamara may be getting away from this but seeing these posts makes me have faith again that these core values that made Azamara what it is are still in effect……at least amongst the Captain and some of the Hotel Managers!

We have all heard of Captain Johannes stopping on Norway cruises to pick up local strawberries, or in other places local pastries being brought onboard.  On one of our cruises we picked up local fish in Kotor to be grilled and served later that evening.   We watched the boat load them onboard from our veranda.  We didn’t have any local food brought onboard our Ireland cruise on Pursuit in June but we did have a local group brought onboard in Dublin to entertain us and another special thing was a slow sail by the Cliffs of Moher that was announced ahead of time by the Captain so that everyone could be prepared to see it.

So I am reminded that these are things that Azamara does so well and I wanted to acknowledge that!   😀

That statement was very decent of you and we Azamara believers appreciate this very much.

  6. We did the Azamara Quest cruise last July 25, 2022, to August 8th cruise that was the 14-night Norway intensive cruise. It was excellent. The itinerary was the following.

    DUBLIN

    SEA DAY

    LERWICK/SHETLAND, SCOTLAND

    ALESUND

    OLDEN

    VIK

    ELDFJORD

    ROSENDAL

    STAVANGER

    KRISTIANSAND

    OSLO

    OLSO

    SEA DAY

    AMSTERDAM

    AMSTERDAM

There you go. It was beautiful and it was a cruise of a lifetime. If you take Azamara you won't regret it.

  7. It is not worth the 4 hours travel time to and from Venice. Most of the roads there are two lanes and if there's an accident which is often, you're really screwed. Visit Venice before or after the cruise for 2 or 3 days and go see the main attractions but personally my wife and I just loved roaming around the canals and getting lost. You see great things that are off the commercial beaten path.

  8. We ended our cruise in Chioggia back in May and it was an overnight stay then we got bussed to the airport in Venice. When we left the ship in the morning to go to Venice there weren't any busses or taxis. We had to walk to Chioggia. I' 71 and so is my wife and we brought her 74-year-old sister with us. It was at least a mile walk or more to catch a bus that goes to Venice and drops you off and the bus station in Venice and more or less you're there in Venice. It took two hours to get there. We were exhausted by walking from the ship to Chioggia. Now we had to find a water taxi to get to St. Marks square. This was on a Saturday and Venice was packed. We ended up getting a private boat that took us to St. Marks square for $100.00. It was getting late in the afternoon and there were just too many people there, so we figured out how to take the water taxi back to the bus station and got on Bus number 8 which took us back to Chioggia at the same stop we left from. That was the closest bus stop to the ship. So, the long walk began again, and we were all exhausted. We heard from some people that just went to Chioggia for the day and they said it was great. It has canals just like Venice and looks somewhat like Venice, but it was a lot closer. I can't understand why Azamara didn't provide a shuttle bus to Chioggia or a bus to or a bus to Venice. We had been to Venice 4 times before and we just wanted my wife's sister to see it. I guess the only way to see it without walking a mile to a bus is to take the shore excursion. Azamara must find a closer port to Venice. I also want to tell you that with the exception of the historical buildings Venice is not the gem it was prior to the pandemic. A lot of hotels and private residences on the Grand canal and canals off the Grand Canal are boarded up or in total disrepair. It's still worth going there but if it's a weekend be aware of the mob of people.

You can get to see a limited range of cabins in a list or map view. Once you’ve chosen your cabin type, click continue, you then have to fill in your details and the other occupants details, then click continue. On the reservation page scroll down to cabin type & you should see a paper & pencil icon. Click on that & then on Choose Cabin, that brings up a list of available cabins as a list, but you can also click on Map view.

Your information was correct. I followed your directions and it worked. I was used to the old way of doing it before the software changeover. Thank you very much for your reply and precise details concerning my question.

    Thank you,

  10. If this has been discussed before then excuse me. When I used to book a cruise with Azamara before the new software system was in place, I could pick what type of stateroom, inside, outside, veranda or suite and then I could make my choice, let's say a veranda P2. I could then easily navigate to decks that had availability for all veranda V2 cabins. There might be some in the middle or starboard or stern area. I would click on let's say cabin 8012 and then it would price it out for me, and then I could book it. Now the new system doesn't do that. It seems like it assigns you a cabin for a P2 veranda. I don't like that. I know I could pull up the deck plans on another website to see where my cabin is, but the point is I shouldn't have to do that. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I've tried multiple times with no success. Help?

  11. We took the cruise on 5-6-23 to 5-18-23. We departed from Barcelona, and we ended the cruise in the port of Chioggia, Italy for an overnight stay on 5-17-23 to 5-18-23. If you want to visit Venice from the port of Chioggia, you have to walk over 1 mile to the bus stop. The bus runs every hour and it cost less than 5 Euros. It takes an hour or so for the bus gets to the bus terminal right outside Venice. The walk is short to find transportation via water to the area of St. Mark's square. When you leave you must again find transportation via the canals back to the bus terminal. When you get back to the Chioggia area the nearest bus stop to the ship is again over a mile walk back to the ship. If you are in decent shape the long walk to the bus stop or back to the ship is a piece of cake.

Our situation was different because my wife has a walking problem in her right legs which caused her to drag her leg although she uses a rollator and in the past two years, I've had both my knees replaced. We're also both 71 years old and we're not used to walking that far. There were a lot of fellow cruisers that took that walk to get to Venice and it was exhausting. The last day we departed the ship and Azamara had motor coaches within 50 feet of the ship.

Why can't Azamara provide transportation to and from Venice. How hard is it to have motor coaches shuttling paid guest back and forth to Venice on the day before we depart. The shore excursions were very limited which was very disappointing. If they can have 10 busses next to the ship at the port in Chioggia on disembarkation morning, why can't they provide busses to Venice and back to the ship at the port of Chioggia. We love Azamara cruises but the port in Chioggia quite frankly was a poor choice and I don't have a solution for that but if that's the closest port to Venice then please provide transportation for us to get to Venice and back to the port of Chioggia and closer to the ship.

  13. Ship: Azamara Journey

    Cabin: 8012, Veranda Plus

Cruise Date: 5-6-23- 5-18-23. 12 Nights Mediterranean Intensive

Pros: Sleeps 3. You get a bottle of liquor of your choice. (Within Reason) Near the elevator.

Cons: Cabin 8012 is directly across from the so-called flower shop, but it was also where the cabin stewards kept their carts and kept cabin supplies there, so they were going in and out frequently in the morning and the evening and the door slams shut.

  14. First I want to assure all of you that have cruises coming up with one of the 4 Azamara ships that the process of getting onboard and checked in the journey from the airport in Barcelona was as smooth as it can get. We got in to Barcelona airport at 8:00 a m and went to baggage and grabbed our bags. We then turned around and there was 3 representatives from Azamara to tell us where to sit until they came back to take us to the bus to take the short trip to the port. We were way early but we got on the bus around 9:45 am. The bus trip took 20 to 30 minutes and we went to a outside restaurant and bar that was next to the azamara location for check in. We mingled with others that were also early and waiting. At 11 am they allowed us to check in and we were on the ship and we got to roam the ship and get some food. The room wasn't ready for us to go to until 1:30 pm. At that time we got into the room and the luggage didn't show up until 5 pm. We got a bite to eat and the muster drill was at 3:30 and it was a breeze. At 4 the ship pulled off. There were people without boarding passes and shore excursions missing plus outstanding unknown balances that were all resolved quickly and without any problems. It was the easiest check in we've ever had so I want you future cruisers that have problems with Azamara to know that everything will be handled with the professional expertise you are used to and will get. We had the White night last night and I'll tell you what to expect tomorrow. Great cruise so far.

  15. One of our flights coming home is with Luftstasa from Venice to Frankfurt and when I try to go online to fill out the passport and security info it says that this flight isn't paid for. I have the booking info that says it is paid for. My TA is trying to contact someone with Azamara or choice air and the phone just rings and rings. She has been on the phone for over 10 hours just listening to the phone ring but no one picks up. Where is the customer service people you hired recently. What a shame that Azamara has fallen to this level. Our cruise is on May 6, 2023 for 12 nights, treasures of the Mediterranean. This will be our last Azamara cruise. I've had it.

  16. Good luck. This situation with the new website is total incompetence of the owners of Azamara which is Sycamore Partners which is a private equity company. They have failed miserably, and the new website is an indication that they don't know what the hell they're doing. This new website or the lack of one is going to have a impact on current booking and any future booking by customers that have sailed previously on Azamar and any future bookings by customers that have never sailed on Azamara. This isn't good for the brand.
