  1. When you do the online check-in, you can chose who goes on your credit card and what the others will be using. You should be able to give her parents the booking number and they can create an account just for her. They can do her online check-in and set up her onboard spending account. I believe she will also need that card with her when she checks in. She can give it back to you for safekeeping. If they trust you to take their child on a cruise, they should trust you with their card for a week!

  2. We've been cruising with our kids for 15 years. As others have said, they usually cancel the teen excursion even if they have one. Some of our best memories have been on family excursions. We tend to leave the historical tour type excursions for when we cruise without them and pick fun active things to do as a family.

  3. We did it many years ago when we were staying at a resort in Montego Bay. It was a long and winding ride. I google mapped it and it says 90 minutes each way. I'd guess it would be more like 2 hours when you have to deal with the traffic that a cruise ship in port will cause. So assume 4 hours in transportation time. What were you looking to do in Negril? The beaches are pretty but not worth the ride, especially if you will be going to other ports on your cruise.

  4. hi, we are booked to take this tour next month. So where is the new office now, can you help with directions? would appreciate it. also we were talking about also staying at Rainbow Beach, is that where you stopped, did you like it? Did you taxi back to the pier (how much) or walk?

thanks for any additional information!! I am excited about the ATV tour, we have 8 in our group so using 4 ATVs

The map is accurate. The building is back off the road and they were doing a lot of construction right before it. There's a tall chain link fence and grass area in the front. It's a small building set back a bit on the property.

We stayed at Rainbow Beach. We enjoyed it. I think it was $20 for the umbrella and 2 chairs. Beers were $3 from the lady on the beach or at the restaurant. Some people were doing the jet pack thing where you "fly". It was pretty cool to watch, especially the crashes! We took a cab back. The walk looked aggressive but doable from the beach, but not sure you could actually go all the way. I don't remember exactly what we paid but it wasn't much.

  5. We did this tour last week. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time.

I was a little frustrated at first as they had just moved their office but hadn't bothered to notify anybody and it was difficult to find them. Even some of their business neighbors didn't know they had moved! After a bit of a rocky start everything turned out fine. We did the 9:30 tour and went to the beach afterwards. There were still plenty of chairs available. We grabbed a spot right next to the bar and restaurant area. Had a few beers and a great lunch. All were reasonably priced.

  6. When we used them last week, there were 2 Royal ships in at the same time and they were on 2 different sides of the port area. Spencer went to one ship and met that group and put them on a boat and his daughter met ours. We all met up after the boat ride to the first stop and it was a little disorganized at that point as they just filled what vans were there with everyone and you stayed with that group until after the boat ride back to the beach. When it was time to leave the beach, they separated us back into our original boats for the trip back to the ship.

  7. Hi. How much is the cab ride to valley church beach?

We paid $16 per person each way. It started out as $30 but when I questioned it another couple appeared that were going to the same place. We just had to agree on the same pick up time.

  8. We toured with him last week. there records were accurate and we had no problem.

I overheard one group that had 1 person decide not to go at the last minute. She was shocked when they gave her back that person's deposit in cash right then!

  9. You can usually "buy drinks for friends" if needed since you're still allowed to buy rounds for others etc. So if you specifically ask to pay for something, saying you want to buy a drink for a friend, many bars will not count it against your Cheers. I'm not sure if any would "override" this. I suppose if you looked sloppy drunk they might, but there's no way they really know whether you're giving the drink away or not if you don't start sipping it there AND they get a grat per drink either way.

We were on the Fantasy during College Spring Break and if you had Cheers, they would not let you buy drinks for others. My friend (both of us in our 40's) ordered a round of tequila shots and once they saw the cheers sticker, they said she couldn't buy them and poured the drinks out!

  10. Yes, my expectations will be reasonable because fortunately I try not to pay too much attention to that kind of thing, but I can certainly see where someone would expect a much better experience based on the reviews and what is said on the boards.

That's the right attitude. You have to compare apples to apples. RCCL's ships are really nice and I enjoy the difference occasionally if the price is right. If it means I can cruise multiple times a year, I'm great with Carnival! We cruise for the vacation, relaxation and the islands!

  11. We stayed at the Doubletree Suites a few years ago. We loved the location! It is an old hotel so the rooms are rather small and the bathroom is quite quaint. Everything was in great shape and beautifully decorated. We stayed 2 nights precruise and never moved our car. It was an easy walk to the waterfront, tours, the market, restaurants...anything we wanted to do. Best of all, the buffet breakfast had some of the best grits I have ever had...they reminded me of ones my grandmother made when I was a child.

  12. I was nervous at first about the location before I got on the ship, but we LOVED the location! We didn't have any trouble being close to the elevator. Noise was never an issue. Honestly I really liked being on deck 3 and where our cabin was located. Easy to get to!

Thanks so much! I like the easy access to the elevators and dining rooms. It is inevitable that I forget something (sweater, camera,...) and we like to change after dinner. It doesn't seem like too many people would be getting off that elevator when we would be sleeping unless they had cabins on that deck.

  13. I just cruised on Adventure and had the absolute best time! I would go on her again in a heartbeat! (been on twice) The only thing that I saw that was worn was on the mini golf course.. other than that I can't complain. I thought the food was very good, service awesome! Very port intensive cruise with fabulous ports. We traveled with our kids so the room was tight for the 4 of us, but with 2 it's fine. Bathrooms small? yes, but manageable. Lots to do at night. Adult only pool area great. It was honestly one of our best vacations ever and we travel a lot.

Tuliplvr - I saw on another thread that you were in 3618. We have that cabin for the 10/31 sailing. How was the area outside of the cabin? The deck plans look weird as if it's all open to the elevator lobby and no hallway to get to the "new" cabins.

  14. We're relaxed a lot on the clothes we take for the dining room. DH gave up taking a jacket about the time airline luggage fees started. He also conveniently "forgets" his dress shoes and most nights wears nice boat shoes or sandals. My cocktail dresses have given way to maxi dresses and nice sundresses. We stay within the guidelines but enjoy our more relaxed vacation.

  15. We used to get massages on cruises as a special treat. It was inevitable that we would book and then something would come up that we'd rather be doing during that time. Now we get all our packing and last minute errands done early in the day and book a massage at a local place that afternoon/evening before we leave and then go out to dinner so there's no mess to clean up at home. It's way cheaper, we start our vacation a bit earlier and are already relaxed!

  16. WOW. What's going on the Carnival lately?? What a bummer:mad:

They changed our port from Freeport to Half Moon Cay for the Ecstasy at the end of February 2016. Never any notification, just happened to notice it on the shipmate app. I'm thrilled with the changed but would've liked to have been notified!

  17. Just read a trip advisor review that was posted 3 days ago that said the casino is now closed. I checked the hotel website and there's no mention or any photos of the casino. Does anyone have anymore information? We are booked for 2 nights at the end of October. It won't make a huge difference but we were looking forward to a little pre-cruise gambling.
