  1. We’re booked on our first Celebrity B2B on Summit out of San Juan in November.  I’m curious how check in works.  We have 2 separate reservations in the same cabin.  Do we get a sea pass card good for both cruises at first check in or do we have to check in again for the second one?  Any info or advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

  2. Thanks for the review, we're taking the Edge TA in April and were starting to get a little concerned.  Was this a 7 day cruise?  We stopped doing them because we have noticed a huge difference in the people on a 7-day versus a 10 day or longer trip.  IMHO, it seems like the majority of the 7 day cruisers have unrealistic expectations and are generally not experienced travelers.  Obviously this leads to a lot of complaints.  And I'd be willing to bet that the service/event they complain about is still far superior to what they experience in day-to-day life.  It seems most of them don't know how an elevator works, let alone what good service looks like!

    Hi S,

    HAL's new smoking policy:

    --No smoking in cabins.

    --No smoking on balconies.

--Some ships have non-smoking casinos; others have non-smoking evenings; some have a smoking section of the casino.

    --Limited outdoor smoking areas.

We were on the Eurodam last month and there was no smoking on the promenade deck.  We experienced more smoking areas on Royal Caribbean and NCL compared to Holland America.  Considerable improvement in just a couple of years!

    Enjoy!

    Kel

Have they changed the unwritten policy of rolling up the sidewalks at 9 PM?  This is why we quit sailing them a few years ago in favor of celebrity.

It's been awhile since I've sailed on Celebrity.  Do they offer drink specials or happy hours?  Is bottled water complimentary or do you need a beverage package?  I'm an Elite Loyalty member- what is the Captains Club cocktail lounge?

    thanks!

They offer daily drink specials.  Bottled water is not complimentary, and the availability of brand (Evian, Perrier, San Pellegrino, etc.) depends on bar and price.  While the comment about having 3 drinks added to your card is correct, the choice of drinks is not unlimited.  The bars in the evening will have a Captains Club "menu" posted which will tell you what wines and cocktails can be ordered with your 3 credits.

  5. The drink package descriptions are overly complicated and convoluted.  While each package has a cost per drink limit, it also includes/excludes specific brands.  If you drink "high end" liquor you will either need the premium package or pay the difference for the drink based on your package.  So I'd suggest reviewing the lists carefully.

An advantage of the premium package if you visit the specialty restaurants is that they typically ignore wine pricing if you have the premium package.  I usually get the premium package and my wife gets the classic package and when we both order high end wine in Murano or Tuscan Grill, we are not charged for the difference.

  6. We've been to Cartagena a few times and have seen all there is to see of the city area.  Does anyone know of any tours or guides that offer something different?  A FARC tour would be a great example.  Something that would get us out to see a little more of Columbia.  Thanks.

We are visiting Cartegena in January...have been there before but a little fuzzy on it.

Can you walk from the ship to the fort, old/walled city? We are walkers and like to just explore ports on our own. Is it possible to walk to the main attractions without having to get a taxi?

We are in port for 8 hours so time is not an issue.

Its too far to walk (about 3 miles).  Cabs are available at the pier and they are cheap.  The driver will try tio sell you a tour but just keep insisting he just take you where you asked to go.

  8. Hello.  We've been to Rome enough that we'd like to try something different during this summer's stop at C.  Is anyone aware of any good options fairly locally, either by cab or rental car?  Any special places worth seeing nearby?  Thanks.

Hope you sent it to a TA and received more OBC or something else.  We are cruising with you at the end of April too!  Here’s to great weather and a wonderful cruise!

Yes, our TA takes good care of us.  Last time I did a TA it was on a liner (longggg time ago).  I'm curious how a shallow draft cruise ship will do on it.  I've heard a lot of good things about the ship otherwise.

I hope your booking company knew and explained to you that there was a choice of 2 perks with refundable deposit OR 3 perks with the non-refundable deposit.  If not you probably need a new booking company.

They did.  I've used them (and her) for years.  Plus I know where they live 😀.

  11. We usually upgrade our beverage package and purchase dining packages before boarding using my OBC.  This time its not available for use before I board.  Does anyone know if the upgrade pricing currently on the website for advanced purchase is the same as purchasing the upgrades on-board?  Thanks.

I just saved $300 on my 2021 Caribbean cruise. Just be aware that the 2 perk option applied only to “non “refundable” deposits. I chose 1 perk with a refundable deposit. I am not sure if this applies to all cruises.

We just booked 4 cruises and were hit with the new non-refundable deposits.  We did get 3 perks though, plus an extra from my booking company.  My rep had no idea why they instituted this new policy.  Maybe too many cancellations?

  13. We were there just before Thanksgiving, at the original restaurant.   It was as good as it has always been.  We have not tried the new one near the pier (didn't even know it exists).  The "official" and posted rate for cabs is $8 for 4 people.  The drivers do try to get $10 but won't fight too hard if you insist on paying the official rate.  But they do have to make a living.

  14. i had the classic beverage package a couple of years ago and ordered a martini at the Martini Bar. The bartender said he would have to charge me for the drink and did so. Since then I have always used the premium package. On the Eclipse last month, the couple we were traveling with had the classic package and when ordering martinis at the Martini Bar, they were only charged the "difference," $3.00. Does anyone know what the policy is when an ordered drink exceeds the limit on your package? If it's only the difference you could potentially avoid upgrading. Thanks.

  15. We have tickets for the Zulu/Rex parades (Lafayette Square bleachers) on 13 February and we are trying to figure out timing. The parade kicks off at 8AM which is also the time listed on our tickets. Given where the parade starts I have to believe it will take an hour or more to reach Lafayette Square. Does anyone know if there are any issues arriving after 8AM? I assume the number of tickets sold dos not exceed the number of seats in the bleachers....safe assumption? Thanks in advance for any help.
