May we ask who is writing to you via email? Is this a person on the ship or in a corporate office somewhere?  Seems bizarre to not have accurate information at such a late stage.

We know the operators can make changes and most terms/conditions state they will contact you on writing, but timeframes are at their discretion.

Handed a letter on arrival perhaps?

Perhaps these cruises need to be sold as mystery trips and priced to reflect that reality?

I email directly to conceige in ship. Unfortunately for them they may also be in the dark.

I think I have pretty well given up hope.  Last cruise cancelled and if they all or some rebooked,  the price will rise.  I went with Vantage for solo cabins. Well next year already

    WAITlisted most dates.

I emailed again to ship Friday. But this time no reply.  Not a good sign.

I understand and that they have no control but like someone said there are people out there that have no idea of what is brewing unfortunately.

Well finally got answered to my email from Friday.   Sorry no news yet on nov 1 cruise.

Suppose to fly Thursday  ship still in Amsterdam. Not Basel.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, we were to leave today on the Vantage Voyager out of Amsterdam to Basel on a 14 night cruise. Vantage called us yesterday and said it had to be canceled due to the low water level. It was less than 24 hours before we were supposed to leave. Keep an eye on the weather. It will take a lot of rain to bring the level back up. We are extremely disappointed but what can we do but reschedule. Next fall was our only option to rebook.

this is the cruise before us like Oct 18   14 days ams to Basel  but cancelled and that is why the ship is still in Amsterdam.

Yes agree both air going and getting back would have to be changed.  Sounds too much   I still think since the ship is to go from Amsterdam to Budapest (changing Destinations)   I Believe its just going to stay in Amsterdam and do the Nov 16 cruise and skip us.

Sorry for having such a bad attitude about this it just seems financially better for Vantage.

    Time will tell

Please Vantage, just give us options!  Understand if you cancel. Had a great time in 2016!, still love ya!  Thanks.

Ural Guy,   well neighbor called today to Vantage and Insurance throught them.   answer was we will definitely let you know

by Wednesday.  Well Thanks  24 hours before we are to leave.  And yes you can cancel and say goodbye to the monies.   My neighbor is concerned with busing and I see her point.  They did a bus tour with Vantage out west and the getting on and off the buses was a problem for her.  So that is why she chose a river cruise.  If she doesn't get off for a tour no big deal to them.  She went 2 weeks in Caribbean and never got off.

So pack and wait is the game now

A few of us posters who are due to sail from Basel on 2 November, on Vantage's River Voyager.

The cruise is 14 nights, heading up the Mosel a bit, along with the Rhine up to Amsterdam.  At the end of our cruise, it heads to Budapest and then some Christmas cruises.

The ship/boat is in Amsterdam now.  I don't think Vantage has enough boats for a ship swap, or that they are in the right place now.  Realistic scenario is a bus tour up to Koblenz then maybe 7 nights on the boat.  I really hope we get some meaningful communication from Vantage in the next few days...no way can they come close to providing anything like a 14 night cruise.  To not acknowledge the basic hydrology at play here is a bit like we're fools?

Just saying, that 'sponge made of limestone' (the Rhine river catchment) has 'anticedent moisture conditions' similar to that of a sponge in the desert.  You need to get a lot of rain to recharge the soil before you will get runoff.  And the larger the river catchment area, the longer to recharge and recover.  That's why the creek next to you can fill up so fast after a thunderstorm, not so much a big river.

Please Vantage, just give us options!  Understand if you cancel. Had a great time in 2016!, still love ya!  Thanks.

Well I was interested in how long it would take for our ship to get back to Basel since it has been in Amsterdam since last week.

I wrote vantage on the ship and they wrote me back that it would take 40 hours.

Not reassuring since that takes us pretty much almost to our leaving the us.

Yes Vantage is not doing us a favor at all.

We're supposed to sailing Basel to Amsterdam in 2 weeks with Vantage.  Not looking good right now.  The River Voyager made it to Amsterdam this morning, but looks like rain is needed for it to get backthrough the gorge.

And we're on the next cruise on River Voyager after yours (Nov 16 departure).  Except our cruise isn't back to Basel, it's to Budapest.  I think it's River Voyager's last full cruise of the season.  So it's not just the Rhine Gorge I'm worrying about. If your departure gets cancelled, we're certainly toast.

Well  I see it a little different bad for us.  Why take empty ship. Just stay in Amsterdam and they obviously have to get back to end season in Bucharest.  So just cancel ours.  My neighbors and I are not too optimistic.  I’m in the bottom of ship they have owners suite.  I told her she better be the first notified

  8. Received an answer today so just a wait and see thing now

"Due to the low water situation, our departure VRM 18/10 was canceled

This doesn't affect our next departures at the moment, as we constantly monitor the water levels on the Rhine river and the weather forecast

Looking forward to meeting you onboard ms River Voyager"

Myself and neighbors are also on this trip.  Watching for weeks and getting discouraged.   First river trip and do not want a bus trip.   They did my air and I do have insurance cancel for any reason.   I am keeping an eye on it.  But no one on here has discussed any problems with the River Voyager yet???

  10. Hi Sue, I've been thinking of you! Hope you're well!

On Freedom this week. Yes new program being tested. They placed vip sticker on my card and I received the info in cabin. I made prime. Free drinks no problem. They only look at card. No info about the free cruise. Pts are now counting until next April 1st I was told.

  11. Saw the Tenors of Rock on the Silhouette last year in July and on the Harmony of the Seas in August. Same show but different singers. There´s more than just one group... obviously they are about 9 to 10 people splitting up in groups of 4 or 5.

    steamboats

You are correct. Have seen them numerous times. On the Silly in January they were at martini bar late and at 12am sang to my husband for his 70th. The family had fun with them. I point blank asked about the different faces I saw. He told me there were 14 members. So that is why they can be different places.

  12. Dave the accessible BW cabins are under actually where the zip line landing is and the golf. I never had a problem

Now to add salt to the wound we just got back to cabin at 10:30pm after 70's party to a strange noise in the wall. I went out in hall and heard it inside the wall to our cabin. Called maintenance. Well they called back and said they are draining the water out of pools. Unbelievable. This late at nite. Never never the Central Park. I am totally frustrated at this point.

Definitely another trip to guest services.

  13. Dave. Farther down in CP is better. From discussion with guest services one cabin from us on 14 are all the pool pumps. And above us is a pump for kiddie lazy river pool. So I think that deck 12 would be bad. Right under pumps. If you look at pic of CP you will notice balconies in the middle of 14 on both sides that are not really cabins. That is where pump rooms are. You actually hear all the pumps in hallway. Go to 11 at least. Relaxing now but unfortunately not on our balcony.

But we did enjoy the accessible on Boardwalk 14. We were there 2 times.

  14. Well we are on oasis right now. Have done Boardwalk twice and loved it. We have to get accessible and BW cabins are on 14th deck and no problem to me with noise Now this time thought I would try CP cabin also on 14. Well listen to my video. It is the worse cabin we have had in over 80 cruises. I might has well be inside balcony is unlivable.

Sounds like engine room to me. Ship full no change available. https://vimeo.com/182411907

  15. My wife, son & daughter took this cruise in June. We dined in Luminae each evening bar one when we went to the Oceanview Cafe. I didn't notice any guests in Luminae wearing tuxedos or suits on the EC nights and no fancy gowns either. Everybody looked stylish though.

There were people wearing suits and maybe the odd tux lining up to get in the MDR. The females looked great whatever they were wearing :-)

If you are going on this cruise I will say that it was the best vacation we have been on and I think you will have a great time.
