There are 4 of us. R735 or34, forgot which room my DW got does sleep 4 per Princess website when we booked. There is a sleeper sofa and a drop down.

We booked an aft cabin, Riviera Deck, on the Regal for next year. For you aft cabin afficianado's how do they compare to other aft cabins you have stayed in regardless of cruise line?
-
WOOO HOOO! only 475 days till we board. DW wasted no time today. Booked on the Regal for next July. If anyone can shed some light on the aft cabin's on the Regal it would be much appreciated. We have done aft's on Carnival but never on Princess.

I have been waiting weeks for them to publish the schedules. Doing an 11 day from Copenhagen to celebrate my wife's graduation. I noticed on Costco Travel they are offering substantial more OBC than Princess is for past guests. It works out to be about $270 per day. Now I just need my wife to decide what cabin she wants.

What? No JAX? Excuse my ignorance for leaving out Tampa. I was thinking on a much larger scale. ie the potential of Direct flights (let that discussion begin!) from up North and the ease of the OP getting to Ft. Lauderdale. I know from Orlando you can take the train down to Ft. Lauderdale so there isnt a need to rent a car. (At least you used to be able to take the train.) I have heard the number of flights in/out of West Palm have increased in the last few years but the scheduling flexibility I am sure there and other airports don't match Orlando's, Miami's or ft. Lauderdale but I could be wrong and well...probably am.
-
I guess I am the exception to the rule. I don't mind spending a few extra dollars if the level of service is higher and everything else being equal.
-
Thats one of the benefits of cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale is that you have legitimately 3 flight options. Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando. Yes Orlando is a little drive but its doable.
-
I discovered today that KLM is also an option for sky miles into Copenhagen. Wish Virgin flew into there because i can use miles on them as well.

You guys rock!

Greatam, we are going July 2016. That's a great idea to use SW miles to get to NY then use Sky Miles from there to Copenhagen. Delta hasn't published their flight schedule for July 2016 yet. I will look into Expert Flyer.
-
Meg, I was Platinum on Delta for several years. I left them and went to Southwest after several customer issues.
-
ok...I will ask a dumb question. Several people of mentioned lack of places to view. Can you please explain further? I have now watched two videos on each and I dont see much of a difference. I personally dont mind going outside and looking from the upper decks. If it was an Alaskan cruise that would be different.
Another question, what side of the ship for the cabin if doing the Berlin, St. Peterburg etc cruise?

We are looking at doing the cruise out of Copenhagen next June/July. Princess has both the Emerald and the Regal doing the same itinerary. The family, wife plus two kids will be going. After reading the reviews today and knowing my kids arent fans of elevators, is the Regal really difficult to navigate using just the stairs? You cant push the beds together either?

Thanks for all the helpful information and suggestions. We arent going until next July so I have some time to figure out things. At the end of the day, I am sure we will use our miles the most efficient way. Thinking 3 and 1 reservations would probably work. But I will say this we have two minor children with us so we will need to stay together. Whenever i have an issue while flying Southwest they will work with me to resolve it. I cant say that about Delta. ie. I dont trust Delta!!! Southwest has been very good to me over the years. I have flown enough with them in a year that it enabled my wife to fly free whenever, wherever she wanted to as long as she was with me the following year, multiple times. I want a smile from the flight attendant when I board which I don't see on the Legacy airlines anymore especially American. The terminal issue in London is a good point. Non-stop to Vegas, is it a must? Yes. To Europe, not realistic, I know that. Like said before, using Miles regardless because some of that savings will be applied to getting a better cabin. I just have to do my homework. Thanks again everyone!
-
it makes it easier to have them all under the same number if problems arise, ie miss connection or try to bump us. we will probably risk it by doing 2 separate IATA number because the money we save, even spending the $800, would allow us to get a nice cabin for the cruise. When it comes to flying I am extremely anal because i do it about 30-35 weeks a year on Southwest.
-
There are four of us going. According to Delta in order for all us to be on the same IATA number the reservations have to be under one sky miles account.
-
ok so i did some homework. In order to transfer miles to my wife, Delta wants wants .01 for each mile transferred plus $30 for every 30,000 miles. That would cost us about $800. No a big deal in the grand scheme of things but hate paying for miles i have already earned.
-
Thanks for the answers y'all. FF miles dont mean much anymore on legacy airlines. Between the wife and I we have over 500,000 on Delta and cant use them. If i want to combine them all under one name it would cost me over $600. I mention Southwest because service is a big deal to me. I dont mind spending a few extra dollars if the level of service justifies it. There will be four of us so as long as i get an aisle, the configuration doesnt matter. The last time we went to Europe it was from Houston to LHR. That to me was a long time on the plane. I have always heard great things about the service of Lufthansa that's why i ask. The schedules, as it stands right now, between the two are similar. Its going to take a long a$$ time to there regardless
-
Doing a cruise next year with the family probably out of Copenhagen or Barcelona. I fly frequently on Southwest due in large part to their level of service compared to the legacy airlines. So which is better to Europe from the states, British Airways or Lufthansa?

my vote is for the Milky Way Martini. BTW...Its not a real MW Martini unless they swirl chocolate syrup in the glass.

I am a Marine veteran of Desert Storm...I had breakfast one morning with a World War 2 Marine who was Jewish and a POW in Germany.
I will never forget that breakfast.

Balconyboy,
Why do you need a full length window to tan the buns? Just sit/lay out on your balcony or go to the topless deck. Live a little!! You are on a cruise!! ;)
-
I have to agree with Liza. The Panorama Deck was great location. I forget the number but we were near the elevators and the stairs so in the morning it was quick and easy getting to the lido deck. The wife and I are like y'all we need privacy and quiet. Take the OP's advice and look at the deck plans. Make sure you have a cabin above and below you.
It takes us longer to choose the cabin then it does the ship. We are doing the Freedom this year but looked at the Caribbean Princess also. We chose the Freedom for the most part because their balcony's are completely covered unlike the CB. (Unless of course you get an aft balcony.)
Hint: If you are like us and love to people watch, get to bar in the atrium early on formal nights. They usually have a guy singing at the piano and you can watch all of the women and men "strut their stuff".

After reading the responses here, the reviews on CC and on the other Regal thread, I am really glad DW booked the aft cabin. I am not worried about the possible soot, especially on such a port intensive itinerary. I would be worried if the soot rained down 24/7 like when Mt Helen's erupted in the late 70's. The elevator issue doesn't bother me cause even now when staying at a hotel for business i take the stairs. The more I have to walk the more I can eat.:)
