  1. Have they actually looked in the pipe for a blockage?

I reported a blocked toilet on the Star, was told that we didn't need to be present and that they could fix it from outside.

I watched the Maintenance guy fish a baby wipe out that was causing the blockage. Was told that this section of pipe served 3 penthouse suites. It wasn't us, so I asked our room steward to gently talk to the passengers in the suites on both sides of us.

    Hope you get it resolved.

Thanks much for the quick reply.  A puff is just the puffy jacket worn under a parka.  We got one when on Crystal for the NW Passage and were hoping for another.

These were the jackets that we got on the Cloud to Antarctica in December 2018. The left sleeve has a zippered compartment for your cruise card. Crew knew to open and scan your cruise card on and off the ship if your hands were full carrying other gear.

The inner jacket is zipped to the outer jacket if desired.

  3. Sailing in a Medallion suite on the Explorer to the Russian Far East next year. What is the turnaround time for laundry? I assume it is complimentary?

    • - Laundry service throughout the voyage
    • - Wet cleaning and pressing throughout the voyage

It is same day service for Princess suites, and 3-day service for Oceania penthouse suites. Trying to figure out how much to pack.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the pics of the lounge.  Do you know the hours?  What time does it open?  Thank you.

Lounge is open 24 hrs a day for self service,  access with your Suite cruise card. Concierge is there only certain hours a day to help with other matters

They swap out the food at different times, eg breakfast stuff in the morning, finger sandwiches in the afternoon,  desserts at night.

  5. Have sailed in 7 Princess suites and have not seen a coffee pot in the suites.

However if you sail on the Regal, Royal, or Majestic in a PH suite on the Riviera Deck, you can walk across the hall to the Concierge/ VIP lounge and make all the complimentary espresso drinks you want.

Unusual it’s normally the opposite way around Port, = Red. Just like a vessels running lights.

As I said earlier, we were in C102 and R614 and had no reason to walk down the red, starboard side.

These ships would be my last choice in Alaska.

Although we haved sailed to Alaska 7 times now on Princess, we are really excited for our next cruise on the Silversea Explorer, only 140+ pax onboard. The crowds on our last Majestic cruise were starting to annoy me.

Have always wanted to visit Kodiak and Dutch Harbor (of Deadliest Catch fame).

  8. Ok, sorry, we were in R614 across from the lounge, which I did visit several times in my slippers, lol.

We were hesitant to book an aft suite because I read about the soot problems earlier.

We also tried C102 on an earlier sailing, but it was a LONG walk to the lounge.

Yes.  There was soot.  The amount varied from day to day and did not stop us from enjoying the balcony.  The room steward mopped the balcony deck regularly.

Sorry, but we preferred the PH suites on the Riviera deck. Smaller balcony, but really convenient to the VIP/Concierge lounge where one could get snacks, fruits, juices, espresso drinks all day long (like a mini International Cafe).

kennicott, thank you for the photos of the OS showing the bed facing the ocean. I've only been able to find one video of a forward Pacific Penthouse and it looks like the bed faces inward towards a tv near the bathroom.  Is this the case with all Pacific PS cabins?

It appears that the beds in the PH suites do face away from the ocean. We booked one this time on deck 7 to try something new and to see where we are going.

In 2017 we were in OS 8067 where we didn't like the vibration felt from the engines (one night the fruit bowl almost vibrated off the table) and there was early morning noise from furniture being dragged around the buffet seating above. We tried to get an OS on deck 7 for our 18-night Midnight Sun cruise in Norway,  but they were already sold 5 minutes after the bookings opened,  so 8067 was our 3rd choice,  crazy isn't it.

Here is 7114 in December. These suites are so large it is hard to take pictures and get most in.

Looks like there is new furniture since we sailed in OS 8067 back in July 2017 after drydock.

    @kennicott

Are there still 4 chairs at the new table?

Is Club Class Dining truly Anytime now?

It was not when we sailed, but did have  30 minute leeway from 5 pm and 7:30 pm Traditional Dining times.

  12. Maybe a solution would be to bring a door stop? Seriously, WiFi right outside OS 8067 was a LOT better with the door open.

Room Steward was asking if I was ok when he saw me on my tablet and sitting on the floor outside our cabin.

Yes, everything was fine except the weak WiFi signal. Lol

One does not book the Pacific Princess for its high speed WiFi, nor its fabulous TV choices and giant screen TVs. 😉 The former is even worse in the South Pacific. As excited as I am at the potential of returning to the area on that ship, I haven’t quite reconciled myself to tolerating those things again for an extended period of time. I suggest bringing video alternatives and HDMI cables, especially for those long cruises with lots of sea days.

Hubby loves to read books from the library,  the Pacific has one of the better libraries in the fleet.

You are correct, just beautiful scenery in French Polynesia.  We have sailed there three times in the past, which also included the Cook Islands and the Marquesas that included Niku Hiva and Hiva Oe. On one of those islands they sent the island school buses to take us to a park where inhabitants put on a cultural show.

The other thing I remember from our 2004, 2008, and 2013 cruises is that they allowed us to stay on the ship until after dinner when the Princess Transfer buses drove us to the airport. Out of our cabins at the usual time, we stored our hand luggage in Sabatini's, and the checked luggage was stored below before they were loaded on the buses.

I wonder if this is still the case as most flights leave PPT late at night.

Also the airport is open air, so there are mosquitoes.

Looking at my cruise card right now, received in November and December. Upper right hand corner it says "Muster Station  B"

directly below that it says "Suite". At the bottom of the card in the middle it says:  "Table:  CLUB CLASS---- Note, the club class  is in caps on the card, not me exaggerating.

Now that's interesting. I just pulled out our cards, and on the Pacific, the Dining Room, Time, and Table are blank.

On our two Majestic cruises and two Grand Princess cruises, it says Anytime Dining, Time:Anytime, and Table: Any even though those four suite cruises were all Club Class.

  15. Actually,  I think your cruise card will say Suite on it if you are in a full suite.

Although it was quasi Club Class the 2nd cruise after drydock, someone said that it is truly Anytime Dining now?

What we liked about breakfast in Sabatini's was that they set 10 tables for the 10 suites. You could linger as long as you wanted after. Another thing I would do is to ask for a Mocha to go. That got placed in our fridge and became my Frappuccino after we returned from a shorex. Sabatini's was so much nicer than the Crown Grill suite breakfasts that we had on the Grand and the Majestic.

Should also mention that the WiFi signal was pretty weak in OS 8067, I had to open the door, or sit in the hallway to get a decent signal back in 2017. Hopefully it is better now.
