  1. I nominate this video as the best video review of the year! This is what cruising is all about. Your sons are awesome. Had me cracking up a couple of times like the ice cream cone walk, too funny. Laughter, smiles, sun, lido action, you have me hyped up for my upcoming cruise.

I shy away from bigger ships but I think I may now consider the Vista.......great video!

  2. I have 2 outfits exactly like that for my upcoming cruise that I will wear to the MDR. My tunics are like a short dresses (and would be cute on their own if I weren't 57!) and you cant see my freckles through my leggins print.

Since leggings have an elastic waist, I may just have 2 warm chocolate melting cakes! (I will however wear my workout leggings to the gym the next day).....

  3. How wonderful you guys will have such a nice time together! Sun, ocean breezes and love will be very curative for your hubby. I went on a cruise with my parents, my mom on oxygen. She brought "the mother ship" which is a rather large tank, kind of like a large outside garbage can, and the staff were outstanding in all areas with kindness and accommodation. She did go through a different security screening but no biggie there. Have a great cruise!

  4. True, if we had to pay airline fees as well, we wouldn't cruise as much. Being in Florida has lots of advantages.

that is most definitely a perk. the cost of the flight and the hotel (I never fly in the day of departure), cabs and food adds on another $400. If I lived in Florida, I think I would be addicted to those mini 3 day trips that can be dirt cheap!

  5. The ecard is received quickly via email. I used to get the plastic gift cards which take longer to receive, between 1-2 weeks in my experience. I book direct with Carnival so I cant help you with the 3rd party question. If I were booking with a 3rd party, I would just give them the card number and pin no different than providing your credit card info. Not sure if you get them from Verizon but they are available all the time now. They used to be sporadic and would sell out in a second.

  6. I bring a shoe bag, the one with the plastic pockets and hang it in a closet. The bottom pockets actually hold shoes but the other pockets hold all those things that would clutter up the bathroom and stateroom and also keeps things organized as drawer space can be limited based on how many you have in a room. (sun block, hair brushes, our various hats, our waterproof pouches, fanny packs, snacks, etc) I understand there is a new rule where we cannot hang our shoebags over any doors due to some damage. I just hang it in t he closet now. Its a little longer than the closet is tall but thats no biggie.

  7. I believe they are now permanently available. I read this on another post a few weeks ago. when I tried to buy them months ago, they would be sold out in a days time, you needed lady luck on your side. Now they are listed as the norm! woohoo!! I buy the ecards now, not the plastic gift cards you get in the mail.

  8. I always pre pay my gratuities and bring 50 singles. I make a point of giving the 50 singles to random people who have done something for me. I will usually give out five singles at a time. I remember giving a bus boy (for lack of a better word) $5 . He looked exhausted but kept plugging away at cleaning up plates and wiping tables. I approached him, gave him the money and thanked him for keeping the tables so clean. You would have thought I performed a life saving heart operation on him he was so thrilled. (perhaps it was my recognition more so than the money?)

When I think of the money I drop on a weeks vacation, giving ten people $5 is nothing and I have always received an utter look of surprise or an ear to ear smile. Spread the love, if even in five dollar increments.

  9. I put a post it note on the stateroom door of my balcony neighbor politely stating the non smoking policy and said nothing more. I can tolerate smoke but they lived on their balcony and pretty much smoked what seemed to be every single time we enjoyed our balcony. They had no idea if it was us or the stateroom on their other side as I did not sign my name or room number. No more smoke issue but my beautiful door decor was stolen. hmmmm?

  10. I am Early Saver, ocean view with a $50 obc. There was a rate drop on balcony rooms. I upgraded to a balcony but lost my obc as that was not in the offer I upgraded to. There are 4 of us in the room, the upgrade only cost a total of $190!

Add in my loss of the $50 for a total of $240 more for a balcony room. That comes down to $60 pp as there are 4 of us in the room. I found the great rate so my cruise compadres are each going to by me a drink for my loss of the original obc. That will help offset my personal loss of the $50 obc but honestly, for $60 a piece to go from window to balcony? The bow before me for my incessant checking of rate drops!

An interesting note, the day I found that amazing price for the balcony and booked it, the prices had increased by that evening on the same day.

  11. On the June 1 Glory cruise, the Captain and the Hotel Director explained why they reversed the aft pool and hot tubs policy at the Diamond Captain's party . It's now back to adults only.

Great when a company tries something and when it doesn't work, it can go back to the way it was. When the change is for the better, wonderful, when it's not, go back to what was working. Adult only hot tubs make perfect sense.

thanks for the info, thats great news!

  12. I bring a fan about 12"square and a long extension cord on every cruise. I pack it up each morning and tuck it in the closet so its out of the way. Its never out in the stateroom unless I am there, just in case I happen to get a room steward that has an issue with it. Have Fan Will Travel. yep, thats my motto.
