On Explorer now: huge adherence to dress code on both formal nights with at least 80% in DJs, and yes they are still called Formal nights not dress your best.
Food on board has been excellent.

@little britain  Thank you so much, have been trying find out about this.  We would prefer late seating, so I think this will work out for us.  Glad to hear people are dressing up, we love to do it and my hubby is shopping for a new flashy shirt and tie over the last week to have something new to wear.

  2. Going on Explorer out of Miami end of November.  I am hoping you can post and do a favor for me.  We love going to the Karaoke and shows.  Could you check the Cruise Compass and tell me what time the karaoke usually is for adults?  It seems like when we have a late seating for dinner, we were missing the time to go for my son to sing.  I would appreciate it so I can change our MDR time if necessary.  Thanks for your time.

On Explorer of the Seas we always requested a 2 top under the stairwell leading to the second floor dining room. Loved the location, table was right against a beautiful tiled mural wall. Nice and quiet and good fast service, it was close to where they bering the food out so our meals were always hot.

We requested through the conceirge who delt with the dining team, we did it a couple of times and never had a issue. We would later get an email from the conceirge confirming outr request.

How do you email the concierge on the ship before sailing??  Asking for Explorer

Thanks so much for posting! I am very excited about our upcoming cruise on Explorer of the Seas and seem to be craving ALL the info...

And PS- I will be dressed up every night at dinner! Formal night will be fun for us!

My family of 3 (including a male millennial) will be dressed up for dinner every night, especially formal nights.  We always look forward to it and that is one reason we always buy the photo package.  We get dressed up, grab a cocktail and walk around before dinner getting our photos taken.  It's just a fun thing for us.

On Explorer her first cruise back in Miami after this year's TA. Looking forward to it! It's been since 2007 since I cruised on her last! It'll be interesting to see an earlier version of the Voyager class ship after having been on Navigator in September. I'll certainly enjoy the Diamond Lounge while it's still in it's rightful place on Deck 14 😢

For people who don't have access to meclizine, it is handed out for free at Guest Services and the Medical Facility on all Royal Caribbean ships, no questions asked.

I usually only get sea sick on a small boat traveling to shore on rough water.  We booked the panoramic cabin on the 12th floor for this cruise, so I'm being cautious and thinking of asking my doctor for this med.  So, are you saying I should just go to guest services and get this in case I might need it???

  7. If any has taken the 9 day cruise out of Miami on the Explorer recently, could you please copy a few pages of the Compass for me?  I am trying to decide which dining time to get.  I know we can do anytime, but my family likes a regular table with other people  We currently have late dining which is our preference, but last time we missed a lot of events, especially Karaoke which my son loves to do!!  Thanks for any help.

    We had as headliners:

    A comedian

    A ventriloquist

    An impressionist/singer

    A comedy juggler

    A 'Jersey Boys' tribute band

    A 'Beatles' tribute band

    Another comedian

    A virtuoso violinist

In addition to the usual production shows, the Love & Marriage show and so on.

Both comedians did additional late night shows; the Beatles act did a matinee at 2pm the next day.

There was an entertainer in the Schooner bar who was there every night. He was hugely popular. I didn't know him before, but he is seemingly a cruise ship stalwart, Perry Grant by name. He also did a late night theater show. Entertaining, but not really my cup of tea.

The CD's staff were excellent. Neil from Brazil always added interesting twists to the games and trivia he ran, and Marvin was simply hilarious, mainly due to his personality.

(Of course, it is possible that none of the staff, nor any of the headliners will still be aboard come December. I am however pleased that the headliner standard is good)

Do you recall if there was Karaoke onboard.  My son's favorite activity!
