Does anyone who has recently been in the Haven on the Breakaway know if they still have DVR players in the cabins?
-
There's an upcharge. It's at least double digits. I was booking it on board until the lady told me about the upcharge. Menu didn't seem worth it, although I should have picked a different restaurant than Le Bistro.
Normally we like the steak at LeBistro more than Cagney’s but not on the Bliss. Cagney’s was exceptionally good. We liked certain things at Q. And Food Republic. La Cucina was more upscale and didn’t look like Olive Garden.

Went with my husband. I don't eat seafood and he does. I had a steak and I do not believe they hit me with the upcharge but my husband had fish and did pay the charge. The absolute best thing on the menu was the bread!

Ill be watching. I am also curious if there is a Texas Holdem table on the ship somewhere?
Yes, there is a real poker table and they have live games and tournaments. They also have a couple of Ultimate Texas Hold'em tables, one in the non smoking area and one in the smoking room. Lots of blackjack but I didn't play because it is constant shuffle and drives me crazy.

In our recent baltic cruise, the concierges in Haven were Virginia and Paulo, sometimes Alex was stepping inn during their breaks. I can say Virginia was Amazing.
Thank you! I hope you enjoyed St. Petersburg! One of my favorite places!

We docked at Pier 88 in May arriving on the Bliss TransAtlantic from Southampton. It was very crowded in the area with another ship at Pier 90. Taxi line was 40 minute wait! Also, we are sailing on the repo cruise on Breakaway and wondering who the concierge is.

Post #323 has the last report from Breakaway, as of July 24.
Thanks for the reference but no concierge listed. Not urgent, just really curious.
-
i know there is a thread for who is on which ship but I have asked this question several days ago and no one responded. Does anyone know who the Concierge is on the Breakaway? We are on the repo cruise 10/27 and wondering if it is someone we know. TIA.

I believe the DOS sells out at full price most of the time. They still offer the opportunity to bid on an upgrade for the DOS, maybe in case of a last minute cancellation? Having stayed in one before we always book the “away”ships in the H4 and love everything about it.

We get a comped balcony room with CAS and upgrade to Haven H4 and pay the difference. Also in June got the Bliss we booked a couple of extra rooms (no discount) with CAS and everyone received free drink card from the casino.

Sailing on the Breakaway 15 day repositioning cruise on Oct. 27. Does anyone know who the concierge will be? Thanks!
-
i doubt it will go for as low as $500 each. We love the H4 and always stay in it even though it is just the two of us. We love a separate living/dining room and my husband spreads out all of his stuff in the second bedroom. It is luxury at sea!

Concierge please on the Breakaway late Oct/early Nov if anyone knows.

Does anyone know the concierge for Breakaway for the 10/27/18 repositioning cruise to New Orleans?

Doug and Sue, woke up this morning intending to get some work done and ended up reading this entire post instead! We were on the Bliss with you and enjoyed meeting you and especially enjoyed all the effort and hard work you did to make it a special cruise. We have done the Baltic and you brought back great memories. We do a family cruise every year and this makes me lean towards the Breakaway Baltic next year. This year, after the inaugural by ourselves, we did the Bliss in Alaska with 13 of us in the Haven. Beautiful ship and ton of fun! And we are doing the Breakaway repositioning to NO this fall. Thanks for the great posts! Sorry your mom missed the trip.

We have not had to pay for any...

Interesting. We were on the inaugural and it was listed as a charge on the Haven breakfast menu. We never ordered juice, so I don’t know if we would have been charged.

The flavour/taste of the food... Maybe Texas barbecue is a peculiar acquired taste; to us it tasted as if the meat had been cooked in paraffin to such an extent that it was impossible to tell what meat was which by taste, we hardly ate anything... The banana dessert was good but huge, way too large for one person...
If you think you’re going to get anything like baby back ribs (as we did) you’re in for an unwelcome surprise...

We actually liked the pork spareribs and they were close to what we eat in Texas. We ordered with a loaded baked potato because we didn’t care for the beans, potato salad or slaw. The problem with BBQ is that every section of the country has a different idea of what BBQ should taste like. Also we ordered peach cobbler and it was nothing like peach cobbler. Second time we ordered banana pudding and it was excellent.

Regarding balconies in the Haven on 17 vs 18. We were in the H4 two bedroom. We were on 18. The balcony is usually half the width of the cabin in an H4 because your shower and tub go all the way to the edge of the ship. That is what we had in 18116. However, downstairs from us, which I assume was also an H4, the balcony ran the entire width of the cabin. I think that means the floor to ceiling windows in the bathroom look out on the balcony instead of directly down on the ocean. That will be a little weird if people on your balcony can see into your tub and shower. We will find out in a month because we are back on the Bliss in an H4 on 17. But yes, the balconies were very big below us.

I assume some people want to leave devices charging in their rooms while they go do other things?
Which they do not allow on the Bliss. Everything chargeable must be left unplugged when you leave the room and staff will unplug if you don’t.

From the looks of it, Cigarette smokers pack into it. Also
The smokers are not happy how the casino is set up for
Them. The smoking area of the casino is a glass
Enclosed space, that doesn’t have a bar. So the bar
In the casino is smoke free. Heard lots of complaints
From smokers about no being able to use the bar.
They can order drinks from waiters. It was wonderful in the casino and common areas without smoke.

Is there air hockey in the arcade? I saw a table in pictures of the teen club, but wasn't sure about the arcade. (my 20 year old son and I are fierce competitors when it comes to air hockey, LOL)
One air hockey game. Air FX

Smooth flight, arrived early, car service to Southampton, just waiting for our ship to come in TOMORROW. At last!

Thanks! Can’t imagine that the smoking crowd will be happy squeezed into just that small section.
Wonder how quickly the walls will come down and smoking will be allowed in the whole casino when Casino profits are low compared to the other ships.
They don’t have to stay in there all the time, just while they want to smoke while they are gambling! I’m hoping all the luck is outside that room!

On Breakaway now, course change.

They didn’t say but I am guessing per cabin. We are in the Haven and it is $75. They said for lunch and dinner since we can’t be on the ship. $75 for lunch and dinner in NYC? Haha. I think they said we could drop our luggage off at the pier. That doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. Plus expensive taxi to the pier. I think we will try to get a late checkout or leave our luggage with the bellman at our hotel. I’m sure it will all work out, it not a very good start to our cruise. And think of all the returning passengers who will have to rebook their flights! What a mess!
