  1. DonKatt- So glad you started this chain.

We are cruising to New England Sept 1. Also from baltimore. My wife has bad knees & we have a wheel chair- which we will be bringing.

We had HC room 2602 booked & then HC 3606 became available. I booked a year in advance.

We have never gone anywhere using the wheelchair. GoS is a smaller ship than we have been on in many years but hope that a smaller ship will be easier to get around.

Glad to hear that embarkation was so easy. Would love to hear from others who have done the New England ports. We will tour what we can.

We are also taking Amtrak from Atlanta to baltimore. We took Amtrak to new Orleans several years ago but not with wheelchair.

    Thanks again for your posting.

  2. We are booked for Grandeur- Sept 1,2016 to New England. Our 1st cruise to the North.

My wife has bad knees & back & cannot walk far-without having to stop. We often use a wheel chair & will have 1 for the cruise. I was able to get a handicapped cabin on Deck 3. Booked a H/C cabin on deck 2. later a H/C cabin on 3 became available & got changed. near elevators for convenience.

Glad to hear that deck 3 is "quite". Our last cruise was on Freedom of the Seas/ balcony but the price on Grandeur was too costly.

  3. I had booked a Handicapped Cabin on Deck 2. It was the only handicapped POV cabin available. Was not happy to be on Deck 2. Today- Contacted RCCL & was told to contact Customer SErvice to get on a list if any higher levels had a cancellation. They actually did have one on level 3- a little better. Any handicapped cabins above 3 are balconies so I took it. lucky I guess.

  4. Sept 2016- to New England- 1st cruise out of the caribbean.

was able to book the last handicapped cabin. Appears to be slightly larger and the bathroom- mainly shower is larger. Most concerned that we need a shower with a seat.

Have been in balcony Cabins before & except for coming in & leaving ports- really did not use- so looking forward to the large windows- wish they had handicapped cabins on the higher decks- we are on

    Deck 2.

  5. Weary-

I see that your last cruise was NCL Majesty in 2007. Was it the Western Caribbean from Charleston? We cruised NCL Majesty from Charleston - March 2007. Our last stop was Key West & that was the 1st time we saw the FoS. It was blocking our sunset view & in a few minutes sailed away- IT WAS SO BIG next to our ship. We said that day- maybe someday ??? !!! Majesty had no Balconies- FoS had so many balconies- we thought -O that would be so great !!

WE sail the FoS on Nov 8. BALCONY - Here we come !!!! We are doing the EASTERN islands this time. Counting the days 91 & counting.

RADIO- we have so enjoyed your LIVE REVIEW !!! Most enjoyed the Pictures. I hope you are taking time to enjoy yourself !!

  6. Patty G- I just sent Eastern Compasses & Menus to you. Not sure if I had alredy sent. Someone sent to me several weeks ago & I have been forwarding on since. keep passing.

Also Patty- You commented about not being able to restock in foreign ports.
2 yrs ago we were sailing the NCL Majesty to Western Caribbean. Our last stop was key West. As we got off the ship- 2 beer Distributors pulled up to deliver Bud Lite & Corona. They needed restocking for the last leg of cruise. We were told then that they could not take on stock while in foreign ports. I joked that we had justleft mexico- they should have gotten Coronas while there.

It was early March- Spring break week & 40% of the ship was college students. The majority had a bucket of Bud Lite or Corona in their hand AT ALL TIMES. We were told the next week - 90% of the passengers were college students. We decided then - we would never cruise in March or April.

That was the day we 1st saw the Freedom of the Seas. It had recently started sailing & was docked at key West. Our small majesty looked like a shrimp boat after seeing the BIGGEST SHIP FLOAT.
That day we said if we dream big- next time we would be on the BigBoat. We sail 11/8.
