  1. I am currently booked in the much coveted D1 9256 for Brilliance, western carribean. It will be my 1st balcony.

The view looks wonderful, but I have a few concerns.

My wife and I would really enjoy the views, the light, and the privacy, but we dont like to sit or lay out in the direct sun. We much prefer shade/coverage.

We want to spend alot of time on our balcony enjoying the scenery and the sound of the wake, but not having enough shade would limit our use.

There are other great center aft (and hump) options that would likely provide more cover.

    9660, 9260, 1104 and 1604 are available.

The two large 9th deck elevator humps are open too.

    What would you do?

  2. As promised, here are some pictures of stateroom 7676 on the beautiful Radiance of the Seas. This was our cruise in Alaska, june 2012.

Just to show you the updated cabin and balcony size / shade.

Very nice, and great photography. Looks like its hard to go wrong with an aft balcony on this ship! Thank you for posting.

  3. Last time we sailed on the Radiance in Alaska we booked #7676. The privacy was just great, the balcony spacious and the views are excellent. The sun light depends on the course of the ship, sometimes there is shade, sometimes it's just baking in the sun. It's not very different with other balcony cabins on the ship. We didn't hear engines nor did we feel movement. The seas were pretty calm though.

If you want to see pictures of our cabin (back in 2012 after refurbishment) I'm happy to post some in this topic or mail.

The only downside of the aft cabins is the long walk to the centrum and elevators...But it's worth it in my opinion.

I always love pics if its not an inconvenience!

  4. Thank you all who have answered so far. I am searching the forums and still researching, but I went ahead and moved to 9256 since I see it is one of the most popular and unique balconies. I figured better get it while its available and keep researching and getting suggestions for the next couple of days.

I will have a great time regardless, but still want to get the best room available for us!

  5. I booked my first ever balcony last night. Room 1604 on the Brilliance.

I am seeing that there are many other great balconies available on this sailing.

My wife and I like shade more than direct sun, we like a breeze, and we like enough privacy to comfortably nap in that shady breeze.

View, noise levels, movement and location convenience also are important.

    The following are available options

    9576

    9092

    9078

    1604

    9256

  7. i wish i could afford to go back soon! looks like im going to have to start looking at the end of 2008 or early 2009 for my next cruise!

  8. I wanted to post this question here, as I see so many are familiar with UVAS. Thank you for posting your reviews and pictures!

Two questions: 1. Is the all inclusive reservation worth it? Dh and I do want to do the clear kayak, and he will do the snorkel. We like non-alcoholic drinks - those frozen ones. And we would like to eat lunch there. And can we do this in say 3 hours?

2.What time for reservation? I am trying to complete my reservation online and am baffled with a time. If my cruise docs say that we are in port from 7am to 6pm is that EST? I know that Uvas's website states they observe CST.

If I want to be at the beach 10am ship time, would I make our reservation for 9am? (I understand EST and CDT, but I was not sure if the ship changes time to port time or stays at EST from the port where the cruise originated.)

Thanks for your help. And I apologize if this is not the right place to ask this question.

hey there, if you want to be there at 10 am your time, 9am cozumel time is correct.

you could get the kayak package for yourself, and the snorkel/kayak package for your husband. Im sure they can customise what you want. My wife also was drinking virgin drinks. We just did the lunch/open bar package.

I think you might want to give yourself a bit more time at uvas if youre doing water activities unless you have other excursions planned. You really probably wont have much time to enjoy the beach, drinks and food if you only give yourself 3 hours and buy an open bar/lunch package. Once you get there you might not want to leave so soon. If youre on a set time, you might want to do the water activities, then just buy lunch/drinks seperately.

What we did was shop in the morning and arrive at uvas around 11:00=11:30ish. We had plenty of time left over after uvas if we wanted to do more shopping.

  9. i agree, its a more calm leisurely setting. there wasnt a kid in site, and not alot of wild water activities. Very laid back setting. But it was perfect for a peacefull afternoon for my wife and I.
