  1. Two of us are sailing b two of us are sailing B2B on the escape leaving this weekend. The total cruise length will be 13 days. Because my mom is joining us for the first week, although we are staying in the same cabin, it is booked us two different reservations (since we chose third passenger free perk for the first week and therefore needed to split the reservations). Does anyone know whether we will be able to use the 13 day $25 per day unlimited Internet rate, or will we be forced to pay $30 per day for each of the shorter cruises?

    Thanks

  2. Congratulations! The Yachtclub is quite an upgrade and was a wonderful experience. We never had any problem finding chairs. We also never had much of a problem carrying drinks from the yacht club bar with us to the casino, etc. You'll get wine with dinner in the dining room; we usually had cocktails in the yacht club. Our Butler was wonderful about things like bringing coffee and such to our room; we never tried to have him reserve pool seats.

    You will definitely enjoy yourselves!

  3. Thanks. Frankly, She is 86 and although she used to be an avid reader, she's not doing much reading lately. She says it's because the print is too small and she can tolerate reading glasses; I fear that the issue really is that she can concentrate enough to read even the junk fiction ( Danielle Steele, biographies of the Elizabeth Taylor) that she wants and once enjoyed. she's jealous that all of the people she sees around her have Kindles. Believe me, If the Kindle will make it able for her to continue reading she'll have waiting for her when she returns home.

    A grateful son.

  4. We will be in a mini suite. Definitely a coffee addict and prefer sipping before everyone else in the cabin is up. Plan to bring my own so room service doesn't wake others.

Anyone know what kind of coffee maker on the Escape? (Should I bring re-fillable pods, instant or grounds and filters (the supply they leave won't be enough, that I know! :-)

    thanks

  5. Thanks to all.

I'm still getting her to learn how to pick up voicemail on her clamshell phone! :-)

I will bring along a few large print books for her. I forget that I read a book every couple of days. One will likely suffice for her for the cruise, and I downloaded some of her favorites on the kindle to see if she will be able to master it.

  6. Thanks so much for all of the ideas! It really is hard being the ultimate sun lover (and taking my mom, who is like me) married to someone who turns lobster red after 10 minutes of exposure of his Celtic skin! These ideas sound great for the first week, and since were doing back to back, we ought to be able to get into vibe for the second week.

Getting ready to book today :-)

  7. Just about to make a last-minute decision to book on the Escape departing 8/28.

My partner and I would like to do the two cruises back to back in mini suite. On the first one, we would like to select The beverage package and family member comes along for free. We decided that one week with my mom is probably enough; on the second leg would want to switch that for either the gratuities or specialty dining option. Does anyone know whether one can do that? Would we need to book 2 separate cruises one for the three of us and one for the two of us? Assuming the same cabin is available for both (haven't had time to check out fine details like that) of folks had experience working with NCL customer service so we wouldn't need to move cabins?

    Thanks "Mixed back-to-back"?

  8. Just about to make a last-minute decision to book on the scape departing 8/28. My partner has ultra sensitive skin that burns quite easily. Are there outdoor spaces we he can lay on a lounge chair but are glassed in sort of like the adult pool area is on celebrity? I apologize if this topic has already been covered. As I'll explain in my next post, we're doing fairly complicated crew set up and it's been difficult to do all the research before the cabins are sold out.

    Thanks

Thanks SO Much for your thoughtful and comprehensive responses. Mom love the last sailing in YC her only complaint being that not enough folks spoke English which kept her from being the complete social creature that she usually is. My senses that increasingly, The MSC Caribbean Saillngs, at least, won't pose quite that problem for her ( thankfully I'm relatively fluent in French and Spanish and can get you in German, Italian and Indonesian so for me the Julio graft in German, Italian and Indonesian so for me the lingo-diversity is a part of the fun!) She continues to have fantasies of one of the cruise line she knows better part of the fun!) She continues to have fantasies of one of the cruise line she knows better (and I don't think she is completely aware of how much of the time she has trouble getting around on her own). Those ships work when my partner and or brothers accompany us but somehow, I can't imagine spending half the day wheeling her between casino, theater, dining room and pool.

Again, thanks for providing so much help for so again, thanks for providing so much help for self many, and enjoy the rest of the cruise.

  10. Am few quick questions.

Planning on traveling with my mom, who is 86 and has some difficulties in walking other than short distances. I loved the convenience of her being able to get to both the show and the casino without having to walk a long distance is from the YC elevator.

When we previously stated in the YC, there was a small grill/lunch area On the far side of the pool. since Le Muse is way on the other end of the ship, pushing the wheelchair the entire distance for dinner is unavoidable; however, having lunch poolside Was a big plus for me. Do they continue to serve there?

When does the topsail bar close? I simply can't remember. What I recall us having cocktails made there and then carrying them down to the casino. Despite her age, mom can close down the casino With the blackjack players a third her age; and, frankly, I hate paying for additional cocktails in the casino knowing they are free in the YC.

Not to sound too alcohol focused, but will they provide a substantial number of vodkas and Tanquereys in the minibar if that's what I request? I often find myself getting up at around three in the morning. Sometimes, a book and a cocktail on the balcony is one of the highlights of the day. Or, in contrast, will 24 hour room service In YC deliver cocktails? (Last time, we took not only my mother but my partners teetotaling dad which is why some of the liquor questions weren't answered.

Thanks, By the way, for all the incredible effort you put in to your posts. They truly are a wealth of information.

  11. Ah, if life offered only sure things. For some, that would be paradise; for others, boring.

Generally, for me, I found that life is mostly about compromises. Go to the place you really want to but pain more or risk being late. For us, going all the way to the Northwestern fjord seems worth the small possibilities of being late. Only later will we know whether we'll be dancing in joy or eating these words.

  12. First, how early will we be able to board in Vancouver for Millenium. Departing 4:30. We are Elite, in Aqua, and have Global Traveler passes if those matter.

Second, has anyone used Priority Baggage? We are doing B2B, so would love to have our bags go to YVR while we spend disembarkation day around Vancouver without all our luggage. Were they efficient? Trustworthy? We are either departing around 10pm or around 4:30 (trying to confirm same day change to earlier flight but won't know until that morning if we can.

    Thanks
