  1. I was looking at going in May of this year on the Allure. Prices back in Feb were $150 cheaper that what they are offering today with their current sale.

that's because there is really no such thing as a sale on RC. There might be cheap prices at times, but a sale... lol no chance.

  2. Several times we asked to be seated by ourselves so we could enjoy each other's company. This also works great if you want to eat and not have to wait for others to finish each course.

Did you ask to be seated by yourselves upon arriving at the dining room? That's another thing I don't understand about MTD. Do you have to set your time every day? Or do you make your reservations on the first day for the entire week?

  3. Ok, so my girlfriend and I are booked on the Harmony of the Seas in august. Upon booking the option to select traditional dining was not available, so I'm assuming it's full. I've always done traditional dining and enjoyed meeting new people and having a set time, same table, and the same wait staff and what not.

Is there a chance that once aboard the ship we could possibly slide into a traditional dining slot? or are those chances slim to none? Also, for my time dining, are you seated in different sections every night with different staff? What are your experiences with MTD?

My girlfriend and I have discussed it a bit, and honestly we are a bit torn. We like the idea of an early dinner (6:30), but at the same time we definitely would enjoy soaking in the last bit of sunshine at 5:30 on the pool deck on some days, rather than going to get ready for dinner. So in that regard, MTD seems appealing. So we are a bit torn as to what to do...

  4. That really stinks. That is an insane price jump.

i know. i called, tried to explain to an agent and supervisor, of course to no avail. what really bothered me was the agent told me he saw the price jump but it was what it was, and i was basically out of luck, the supervisor tried to tell me that he couldn't see the rate i was asking about, almost seemed like he was trying to kindly imply that i was lying to him in order to get a cheaper rate...

...anyways, I've managed to discover a way to get a rate that is a thousand cheaper than the current rates, but will stay take a couple hundred hit on the original price i was after

  5. Crazy, right? Both of the cruises I have booked are UP hundreds of dollars with this promotion. Now just waiting for the new dates for 2017/2018 to come out. This should be very interesting this week.

ridiculous no? i'm still pissed that a balcony cabin i was going to book, was raised 1000 dollars in a span of 90 minutes, and the whole reason i did not book at the time i saw it was because i only waiting to post a message to consult CC first to get opinions on whether to go for a guaranteed cabin or not.

  6. royal sure knows how to cut a deal. between 30 percent off last week and the 50 percent off second passenger plus free pre paid gratuities and some OBC this week, well, i've done the math and the rates have gone up just enough with this new promotion so that it comes out to the same as last weeks when everything is added up. terrific marketing campaign though. smh

  7. haha. yea, well wish i could say i expect more from a major travel company.

now my only hope for the ov balcony is this 50 percent off second guest on sunday, and if the rate stays the same, i'll be able to get more or less the same fare the website offered me today before screwing me.

i was also given the run around by two reps at royal. one said he saw the rate i was talking about but could only offer the me the current higher rate, when i spoke with a supervisor, he claimed to be unable to even see the cheaper rate i was talking about. hmmmm, somebody isn't telling the truth, and it certainly was not me.

    par for the course, eh?

  8. I couldn't get the link to post here but if you Google - Royal Caribbean April 2016 promotions and choose the site that mentions the word Blog - you will see the official promotion.

Thank you! It says the offer is valid for US and Canadian residents. I am US resident, but my girlfriend who I will travel with is a resident of Spain. She would be the second guest. Any idea if the promotion wouldn't be valid for us?

  9. is this legitimate here? would definitely bump us up to a ocean view balcony on the harmony...

i've also noticed they have a 30 percent off promotion right now until april third. Dropped the price of a ocean view balcony down by 1000. the question is, what will the rates be once the april 4 promotion starts, would the 50 percent off end up being more of discount, less, or the same. ufffff lol

  10. This is a question for those that have been on CC for a while, maybe 10 years or more.

For the life of me I cannot remember the name, despite numerous google searches, nothing is jumping out at me. The site was more or less a more in-depth look at cruise ships, with in depth photo albums of every deck, every stateroom, pool areas, bars, theaters, etc.

I'm not sure if the site even exists still, as I said, the first time I heard of it was probably close to 15 years ago now, but the last time I visited it, it was closer to 6-7 years ago.

Hopefully some of you remember. I found it originally on a CC thread, but I've searched for the thread with no luck either.

  11. Personally, if the OP is concerned, he or she is entitled to that concern. While I personally think it's a bit of a stretch to think Royal would skip a port because of an attack on one day, we shouldn't bash the OP for it. I'm happy to see the general consensus, on this thread at least, is to not live in fear. Belgium, and Brussels in particular, continue to live on, people returned to work the next day, the bakers baked bread, the accountants crunched numbers, people shopped in supermarkets, etc. Belgium is not a war zone.

Somebody raised a good point, if they would skip the port in Belgium, why not a bunch of other ports across Europe. Potential danger is everywhere. I currently reside in Barcelona, have been here for the past 3 years, and after the Paris attacks in November, raids were carried out all across the greater Catalunya area, and a few here in the city as well. One happened to be right down the block from my apartment. I don't live in a dangerous neighborhood (Sagrada Familia), I've never once felt any danger here, and I refuse to let any thoughts like that permeate my mind due to any act of violence. I come from northern California, in wine country, which is by all accounts, a pretty safe place to be. However even in my neighborhood, I can recall raids of drug dealers houses by SWAT teams, and shootings and stabbings. More there than here. People are far too scared of the word "terrorist." The terms comes in many shapes and forms, it doesn't have to be a bombing. My point is, that danger is potentially everywhere, around every corner, down the block from me perhaps, or maybe you. You can't expect the world to stop. It never will. Go on vacation, be smart, keep your wits about you, but unless a port of call is stopping off in Syria, I wouldn't raise hell if Royal Caribbean decides on not skipping it.
