I placed a low bid (slightly above minimum) to upgrade from inside to oceanview on Spirit Alaska sailing Sept 21 (5 days from now) and still haven't heard anything -- even though I hear the recent Alaska Spirit sailings are well below capacity.

We’re on this sailing and we’re notified our bid was successful about four hours ago

  2. A TA here in the UK is selling this cruise. It’s obviously a B2B but is it in violation of the PVSA?

    Cruise embarks Vancouver then

    Sitka

    Tracy Arm Fjord

    Juneau

    Ketchikan

    Vancouver

    Victoria

    Astoria, Oregon

    San Francisco

    disembark Los Angeles

I’m confused so any help would be appreciated

Do whatever makes sense to you for your personal level of risk acceptance, and ignore anybody who has an unsolicited opinion about it. 😉

For me, I was masked at all times, indoors and out, with the exception of my own room and balcony, two outdoor meals in a clamshell on deck 11, and one indoor meal in a near-empty dining room. I attended one show in the main theater, sitting waaaaay in the back away from anybody else (theater was maybe one-third full). I spent the vast majority of my time on my beloved bowling-alley balcony, as well as people-watching on the open decks.

I had a wonderful vacation. Again, it wasn't like pre-Covid at all, but it was a perfectly delightful, relaxing getaway. ♥️

I don’t understand why you’d cruise and avoid others. Not my idea of a holiday

Having seen an increase in onboard cases since the removal of masks required, I assume  that is the “May be required in select venues or situations”

pax who were positive were disembarked but not the crew,  with such high rates of infection currently in the UK,  it’s inevitable some embarked whilst incubating  Covid even though they had a negative test.

Back to your original Post and advice to not Believe the website, why?The website actually says

Masks are recommended, but not required, in the majority of venues, though they may be required in select venues or situations. This will be clearly designated through signage and onboard announcements

To me ‘recommended but not required’ means just that - not required. The ‘select venues’ Princess told me means the theatre and Princess Live (why?). Definitely not everywhere. I know Princess can change the rules but it doesn’t mean we have to like it. Sip and cover is different entirely and I’d never have booked if that was a stated rule. Mask yes but that no.

In the UK we were told again this week by the health minister that we must live with Coronavirus and treat it no different to any other respiratory illness and I fully believe that. Sitting wearing masks isn’t normal living.  I think if I was so worried about catching it, I certainly wouldn’t book a cruise.

Also I don’t think Princess help matters by letting untested passengers queue to embark alongside tested, negative ones.

  5. Currently on Sky Princess

UK Princess protocols clearly state no masks required, recommended but not required.

Boarded Monday, must wear masks. Now the ridiculous ‘sip and cover’ (although mainly being ignored) in all bars.

Totally not what we were expecting. Very disappointing. Can’t understand why website (updated on 31 March) still saying no masks but reality totally different.

Not happy at all, last cruise with Princess for us

But P&O specifically said CPS users should use the drive through testing whereas Princess said all car driver. I’m just quoting what others have been told.

Was on P&O Iona last month. Used Triangle parking and used the drive through with no problems. Nothing about only for CPS users

Don’t know what time you can start booking but I expect you’ll be OK. Hopefully so will we - we don’t board until 1.30!

Don't worry, think you'll be fine.  We boarded at about 2.00 last week.  Was able to book everything we wanted, although could only get to see an afternoon performance of We Will Rock You, but was OK with that

Hearing about lots of restrictions on board and the phrase "due to covid" bein used an an excuse. I agree with some, such as masks indoors or packed places and all to have jabs to go, unless children or medically unable. I also agree with pre testing. But i dont agree with, restricted openings, such as kids club, no roller skating, some have even said booking slots for the pools etc.

On top of these restrictions RCL have not even offered any compensation. Or a full explanation of what restrictions are on-board.

Pay full price for a cruise but only have a limited experience. Very very poor tbh.

    Hopefully things will change soon

Just returned from 7 night cruise on Anthem.  Thoroughly enjoyed it, so good to get away after such a long time but did find some of the restrictions petty.

For example many seats in the bars were not in use for social distancing, but totally inconsistent from bar to bar. This sometimes meant going from bar to bar to find a seat when there were loads unoccupied.  For example two sofas next to each other you could use but another one tucked away at the back, near no others, not in use.  Sometimes staff would allow you sit there, other times not.

The problem can only get worse as more passengers are allowed, can see arguments happening and feel sorry for staff.

I think we all were so happy to be on a cruise at long last so made the most of it.  Staff all fabulous.

It hasn’t put us off as going on a P&O staycynext month but hoping will be a bit less restrictive by then.

Did you get the email.....? I interpret that as if it goes down you get a refund and whatever you pay the same.

    What you’ll receive:

    • Your original stateroom category will be price protected at the original cruise fare rate, excluding taxes, fees, gratuities, and other non-cruise fare items.
      • If your booking was already paid in full and your cruise fare rate decreases, we’ll provide you with a refund for the difference. You can expect to receive your refund to your original form of payment 45 days after we move you. Kindly note, refund times may vary depending on your financial institution.
    • To sweeten the offer, you’ll receive $50 USD credit to spend onboard per stateroom.

I’ve just phoned RCI to make sure. Just have to pay extra port fees, gratuities etc.

I have now received a new endorsement letter for Staysure stating name, policy number and the level of cover etc. Basically giving all the information that P&O and others will require on one sheet of paper which should save a lot of time at check in.

Did you ring Staysure about the new endorsement? The one they sent me doesn’t have any policy details etc

    Thanks

As it's four nights they don't want it to become a big piss up! As it's at sea all the time a lot of booze can potentially be consumed.

We are booked in 49 and 50 as will have our second jabs beginning of June. We haven't been anywhere for over 18 months. Just looking forward to a break!

Don't forget in the UK we don't pay any gratuity on top of drinks packages, in Europe it is illegal. You pay for what you get nothing more. If we get "free" drinks packages no gratuities on either.

I can see that they don’t want a booze cruise but we’ve also booked a four night one on Princess and drinks, WiFi and tips are £30 pppn!

Like you we’ve not been away for ages and had a few cancelled cruises so booked the Anthem, Princess and a seven night P&O - just hope we like this ‘new cruising’ .  Desperate for a break!
