Sorry you were disappointed with the wait staff. We are both non-drinkers, and have never felt that the staff was pressuring us to place orders.

Didn't realize that the Island would not have an IC added. Question for previous sailers on the Island. We are elite with Princess, and are non-drinkers. We usually swap out the mini bar for coffee cards. Where did you get to redeem them in the past? In the dining room?
-
Yes, that has happened to us. Just call Princess and ask for the new price. If they say "no", you can just cancel and re-book since the final payment hasn't been made yet.

Improve wi-fi. Recently went on the Oasis (Elite with Princess, first time on RCL) We were able to Skype with our family. Could never do that on Princess.

Princess has afternoon tea in a main dining room every afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30. They have finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, cookies and cakes. And, of course tea. (coffee if you prefer) We enjoy that time meeting people. I believe Carnival only does it a few days during a week long cruise.

First time cruising on RCL. Do they offer afternoon tea? I know that Princess and Carnival do. Just curious.

We did this cruise in 2009. One couple we spoke to was doing that same thing. They had to make prior arrangements with Princess. You can't just decide at the last minute you want to make a change.

We have done many Caribbean cruises out of Ft. Lauderdale for spring break. Thinking about doing the Western Caribbean out of Houston. I know the port is much farther from the airport, but just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about the ease of either port. Or, we could fly to LAX for a California Coastal, although air fare would be much more.

Does anyone know the website that shows how many ships will be Port Everglades any given day?

Call Princess and have them book it. Then, on Monday, you can transfer the booking to your TA.

We did this cruise in July of 2009, and reading your review makes me want to go again. We loved it because we went to Glasgow (my Dad's birthday place) and to Normandy (where my Dad landed back on D-day). It was kind of a tribute cruise to him. All in all, a wonderful cruise.

We sailed out of Ft. Lauderdale on NCL in 1978 on a Caribbean cruise. I can't remember if it was called the Star or Sun. Does anyone remember what ships they had way back then? Not sure what became of them.
What will Island Princess look like after May 2015?
