  1. Okay, we leave in two days and I am nervous. This is the first time to cruise with kids (4 & 6), so I am excited and nervous at the same time. Here I sit at my fire station with to many questions.

My kids have little patience (as most don't).

How early can you get on the Conquest?

Is there a best time to be at the dock?

I would get to the terminal by 11am.

We have gotten there aroung that time. We were onboard and eating lunch on the lido deck by noon. You may not get to your cabin by 1:30pm though.

  2. That is so cool!

We also made a run to KFC, while in GC. Not only did I have a personal message for Ralph from John Heald; I also was able to provide him with his wings.....

He was by far, the best cruise director we have ever had; and I can only hope he is still on the Conquest, next November.

We provided Ralph his wings on our Halloween cruise.

BTW: You should have seen his Halloween costume.

  3. Can anyone who's sailed on the Conquest very recently tell me if the ship is changing time to match Jamaica and Cayman port time? The last time I was on there, they did not. I'm trying to make some plans for Cayman, and 'ship time' could play a factor in how much I can squeeze into one day. :D

    Thanks!

    Jen

The 3 times I sailed on the Conquest ship's time did not change. Then we were on U.S. daylight savings time so we had the same time as Jamaica. On our Halloween cruise Cozumel was not on daylight savings time so the times were different.

Does anyone know just how early coffee is served, or self served. Not any cappichino, frappachino, or any other fancy coffee, just plain coffee. My dad and hubby are VERY early risers,(probably getting up just as others are turning in) and have to have their am coffee. we were just wondering if there is 24 hour coffee, otherwise, we will do the room service thing.

    thanks

Coffee is served 24 hours a day on the Lido deck.

Is the Conquest going in to dry dock next year?

The Conquest goes into dry dock in January.

  4. We just got back for Cozumel and had a great time with Gerry. We asked to be pick up at 10.00 but dock early. We walk out at 9 and there he was standing with a sign with our name. We stay with him for 5 hours and had a great time. He show up all over the island and stay with us while we swim at one of the beaches. ;) He was very consiterate about keep the car running when we got out so that the car was always cool when we returned. :o He is very knowledable about his home and was able to answered our question. :o If we ever go back we will look him up.

How much did he charge you and how many people were with you?

  5. Hello conquest cruisers. I will be boarding this wonderful ship on may 4th. What time should I arrive at the port I was thinking of between 1230 and 1 pm

At that time there may be long lines. One our first cruise that was when we got to the terimanal. We gou onboard after 3pm.

On our second Conquest cruise we got to the termanal at 10:45. We were eating lunch on the Lido deck at noon.

  6. dh & i are looking at booking our 2nd cruise...and 2nd on conquest. first time we went with no kids. we are considering taking kiddos this time.

dd-17, ds-13 and ds-will be 3 by then. i hate the idea of taking the little one honestly. but don't have much of a choice. any ideas/suggestions for traveling with him on this ship? how is camp carnival?-for the younger ones?

also, there will be 5 in our party....but we want 2 rooms. dd will be 18 then, so i don't mind putting her and ds 13 in own cabin together. very responsible kids. can a toddler be booked in a balcony without having a suite?

    thanks.

They do have balcony rooms for 3 & 4 people. We have booked it twice on the Conquest. If you book early enough, you can get an inside cabin righy across from the hall from the balcony room for your 2 older children.

  7. I had a question about the Captain's Party...

Is it a little welcome party one day or is it a dinner? DH was looking at the menus and saw the 2nd day's said Captain's Welcom Dinner. We were just wondering what the dress is like if it is a party. I also heard the advise about getting drinks from the bar vs. from the roving waiters. If someone could clarify, we'd appreciate it!! TIA!

The Captain' Party on the Conquest last July was on the first formal night (i e Monday). It was held right before dinner. We wore our formal attire since we went straight to the dinning room afterwards.

We are going on the Conquest again on August 19. We got our docs yesterday.

  8. I want to remind everyone the dangers of flying into Houston the morning of the cruise. I returned home on a business trip from Newark, N J to Dallas, TX. Due to mechanical problems my flight was canceled. I was lucky in catching another flight 4 hours later.

This would be devasting if it happened on the day of your cruise. Remember Hobby airport is a 45 min drive. Houston's IAH airprt is a 2 drive to Galveston. There are also the construction delays on the Galveston causway.

  9. How would you rate the mattress/bedding on Conquest? We were thinking of bringing a mattress pad for more comfort.

We sailed the Grand Princess last year and the bed was pretty hard.:(

    Thoughts, advice???

    Thanks,

The beds are very comfortable. We were on the Conquest last July. We had a balcony on the main deck. The first night my wife went out on balcony and left the door open. I fell asleep in 3 minutes.
