we like deck 8 for the convenience of walking thur central park between elevators. We like ocean balconies but we did do a boardwalk balcony last year. We were just pass the carousel, some noise but with the door closed not bad. you don't have the privacy on inside balconies.

what was the price per person for Chops?

Thanks Ken. :)

How anyone hung a hammock on their balcony? If so, do you have pictures? What did you use to hang on the supports?

we have a cruise on Allure and i've got the urge to hang a hammock. Has anyone ever done this? If yes do you have pictures? How did you attach to supports?
thanks

If you have a Walmart close (who doesn't) buy an Ozark Trail. Only $10 not $40 like the yeti. it's the same idea, ice stays over night.

By no means do i rate myself a cruise expert, but as my upcoming Easter cruise on Allure will be my 3rd time, so you might say we like her. I like the food options better. Samba Is meat, meat and ok, more meat. Have done it twice. we like the different sections. Boardwalk is nice for little ones. Merry-go-round, some game type places. All the water shows are there including Belly Flop. Donuts in the morning. A hot dog stand with 4-5 choices. Johnny rockets, rock climbing wall also. it is aft deck 6. Central Park is deck 8, nice and tranquil. Park Cafe, Chops, and Giovannis also here. Park Cafe an option for light breakfast fare (to skip WJ). also good sandwiches and salads. It's a good pass through to get from stern to aft elevators.
The pool deck has neat kiddie section, a sports pool. An ice cream machine is here. (tip, i bring a glass and spoon from WJ. otherwise you use the cones and they are small.) The Solarium is very nice and offers a large shaded area for us non sun bathers.

We book though AAA. We are in Delaware, AAA here prints them for us and gives us holders.

Gotta go with Richard Spacey also. He's a maniac!

Trainman-2, noticed that you're reading The Last Jihad. Love the series of books by the same author, i.e., Rosenberg. Suggest that you check out the library and look for novels by Daniel Silva. Excellent writer who researched all the sites described in his terrorist books. You won't be disappointed. We, the souse and, I are leaving in December 22nd on the same cruise and itinerary as you are presently on. Best regards and hope you and your lovely wife enjoy the cruise. Sheldon
Vince Flynn and Brad Thor also are good authors for thrillers.

Just a note if you're in need of re-newing...
We had to re-new our passports. Pleasantly surprised at the quick turn around time.
We sent them off Nov. 4 and got them back today the 16th. 12 days, can't beat that. :D

just hurry up! I'm on the 3/27 sailing. :D
-
Daghis and Lizzie, thanks for your replies.

Can someone tell me if the Viking lounge is open during sail away. Thanks :D

Guess I'm the odd man (woman) out. We always wear a lanyard MAINLY because I don't like trying to keep up with my SeaPass Card. It's just simple to wear one without worrying about going thru my "stuff" looking for my card or continually checking to see if it's still in my pocket, etc. Might not look perfect but it is certainly a simple way of keeping up with the card and I'm all for simple.
my sentiments exactly. hate having to keep guessing where it's at. as for pictures, just take it off. no big deal. :D

we sailed on Quantum last April. we are platinum members and even though supposed to have priority boarding, we were made to wait in "Time Out" until our assigned time. i was not a happy camper.

we really enjoyed Richard Spacey. :D

St Marteen is by far my favorite port. the town is clean and nice. nice beach right there. if you want to take the trip there are other nice beaches. :D

we sailed on Quantum last Easter. i thought the check in process was horrendous.
easily the worst of my 9 cruises. all kinds of problems with technology and the iPads. according to RCCL once i reached Platinum status (no big deal) i would have priority boarding. not so at Cape Liberty. Depending what date you did your set sail you were assigned a check in time. i didn't make that perk Royal did. The only thing priority about it was my holding area was larger than some others.i admit i do like to get on the ship as early as i can so i was a little miffed when told my so called perk did not apply. Sorry Charlie, you waited to do your set sail, you're at the end of the line. and yes, i would like some cheese with that whine. :(

I just got off Quantum. $12 and a limited bar menu. not the usual RCL drinks. also tried to get a Banana Daiquiri, "Sorry no bananas". what bar on a cruise ship doesn't have bananas? Bars on Quantum that's who. finally went to windjammer and took a banana to the bar. :(

Did they have a belly flop completion? :D

if you want to see the "real Walking Dead", come on the easter cruise on Quantum. There will 2 of us. 1st Battalion 9th Marines. We are the "Real Walking Dead". If you are interested in the military, do a google search for us.
-
great idea! how do you hang it? where did you get it?

i belong to a military organization ( the unit i served with in Viet nam). while in san juan waiting for our cruise a fellow Marine from the unit recognized me. he was working in PR.

just a few notes on passports. the under 16 for only 5 years is because of the child change in appearance. I was a postal clerk and had to accept PP apps. They are VERY strict about the birth certs having the raised seal. A lot of people have a hospital certificate, don't waste your time. It will just be returned causing you further delay. Your picture has to be no more than 6 months old. I had one lady try to give me the same picture that was on her 25 year old PP. She didn't like the fact that she had aged.
