  1. I’m wondering if there are other cruisers travelling from Manchester Airport to join Silver Spirit in Rome on 14th April. It would be nice to have company for my first solo travelling experience, whilst not looking for a constant companion for the whole cruise, just the flights. 😎

  2. Thanks everyone for your reassuring and often amusing replies. I had to laugh at the suggestion that some type of clothing is the main requisite. But of course, I wouldn’t want to put other travellers off before they even boarded. !!  😆. Hoping to meet with people who have this great sense of humour/wit.   Not long now. 😎

  3. This will be my first Silversea cruise and I realise standards will be high.  Should I travel very smartly and arrive at the pier looking neat and tidy or be casual and comfortable for the flight and transfer ( I was thinking dark jeans, trainers and jacket of some sort).  Any advice most welcome.😎. I will be travelling solo, so nobody to help me with luggage, so may be feeling a little frazzled.

  4. Thank you Randyk 47.  I’m disappointed that there is no poker but have time to brush up my Blackjack and Roulette betting.  Just hoping that April brings us hope of the cruise going ahead.  This will be a lot of firsts for me - first Silversea ship, first time on my own and now first ‘no poker’ cruise.  Thanks for your reply.

  5. Can’t believe my eyes , so can someone confirm that there are no poker tables on Silversea ships. If not, does anyone know why.  I love to play poker ( only on cruises) and was really looking forward to playing.  🙁.  Guess I’ll have to brave it out at Blackjack - but that is so deadly.   What are the table minimums please.  Hoping cruise goes ahead at end of April 🤞

  6. Sorry for my earlier reply being underlined throughout, I’m just learning the reply system and think I got it a bit wrong.

Well, any worries I had about my new adventure have been dispelled. From all your lovely replies I think I will feel quite safe,  and will be able to socialise with fellow passengers quite easily. Thank you all for putting my mind at rest.  Also, thank you for your kind words of condolence.

Here’s to getting back on the high seas! 🛳️

  7. As this will be my first time cruising alone, I wonder if anyone can give me advice on whether there are events in which to get together with other lone cruisers. Also, are people welcoming for you to join them at dinner tables or do you have to brave it out on your own.

Any advice from previous cruisers would be most welcome.    Silver Spirit April 2021 ( hopefully).

  8. So, can anyone on board now, tell us about the changes within the ship now it’s back afloat again.

Assume a great Rolling Stone Rock Room is now in operation, but have they made the casino Non Smoking, like so many requested?  This is the one thing which causes me grief at the tables.

I have no problem with people having a cigarette on the ship, but when one is so close at the tables it really does get on your chest and in your clothes, which is not pleasant.  Maybe a room within the casino where smokers could pop into for a swift ciggie if they need to, would work?

Look forward to any news from the ship before we join her in 2019

    Cheers everyone 😎

    Hi HAL Fans!

As the Koningsdam heads into her first dry dock (Dec 02-09, 2018; Freeport, Bahamas) there's been various chit-chats about the confirmed, probable, wishful, unlikely &/or unwanted changes forthcoming:

A number of us CC's will be aboard the Koningsdam's first sailing post-dry dock (11-day Southern Caribbean; Dec 10-21, 2018) with the obligatory Meet & Greet, Live From's & Trip Reports planned.  In anticipation of the ship's update what would you like to know changed &/or stayed the same?

    Begin list now ...

    Cheers.  Dogstar.

  10. Thank you to everyone who replied to put my mind at rest about the cabin 6171.

Also, hope anyone who replied to my query about the drinks packages will be able to read my thanks to them here too.

I couldn’t see how to say thanks once post had moved up the list. Excited about this cruise now.

  11. We have just cancelled another cruise, as have many others , due to the main port overnight stay being drastically reduced by 9 daylight hours, and consequently have lost our deposit.

We saw a good looking deal on Holland America Koningsdam and have luckily been able to book a balcony cabin 6171. Our TA says this is on a bend in the ship, so I am asking any HA seasoned passengers if they know whether this will have any disadvantages for us. Obviously, this cabin may not have been our first choice, but at this stage we're just grateful to be sailing on a lovely ship (judging by comments read). Any other advice for HA newbies please. We know Princess, P&O, Celebrity and NCL, but not this company.

  12. PLease could anyone tell me if they have recently stayed at either Grand Bahia Principe or Luxury Bahia Principe at Runaway Bay Jamaica. Think it is one large complex, split into Adults only or Families.

I keep hearing of bad reviews and poor customer service and am worried about staying here after our cruise. Can anyone give me first hand opinion please.

  13. We brought this up at the Q & A session but the Captain said he only got the e mail notifying him of the change to departure time from Venice three days before sailing

Surely someone in the route planning dept has knowledge about such huge historical events and the implications. There were many disappointed people who had looked forward to the sail into Kotor. Bar was not a great alternative and the 'organisation' to get us away from the ship left a lot to be desired. Corfu, Mykonos and Dubrovnik were great.
