Yes. This has happened twice.to me. Others have also reported the same issue. TA should enter about 8 GC’s, then wait an hour and another 8 max.
Seems to be a fraud type protection in the software. Aarp
had to fix the card. Didn’t take them very long.
AARP did fix my card pretty quickly with no significant hold time.

Maybe you ask your TA to try again now that you have proof that the card is good.
I did and it worked.
Next time I will check the balances first, email the numbers to my TA and do it earlier.
Thanks to all those that helped me with useful information.

Did you try checking the balance of the gift card? https://wbiprod.storedvalue.com/WBI/lookupservlet?language=en&host=princess.com
The balance is $500, I just checked it. Thanks for the link.

This has almost certainly discussed in another thread but after spending over an hour and a half of phone time with my TA today I don’t want to spend more time hunting threads down and search through them. Sorry if that is selfish.
I called up the TA today and they were able to process all of my gift cards but one. It appears they were entering the right number but it didn’t take.
I called AARP and they resent the gift card but it has the same number and pin. I called my TA back and they said it takes 24 hours for them to process them so they want me to wait until tomorrow to try the gift card again.
I only have $158 to pay with the gift card so I tried explaining that they needed to only take $158 off the gift card and I will go to guest services when I get onboard and apply the rest. I am hoping that is doable and that wasn’t the cause of the initial problem this morning.
Does anyone here have real world experience with having a dysfunctional gift card, AARP resending the same number and PIN and it working and applying just a part of the balance, please? Or with at least one of these issues.
If it doesn’t work soon I will just pay the balance with my Amex and as they say, marry in haste and repent at leisure and just deal with it later. It is the Total Solar Eclipse Cruise on the Discovery so I want this positively resolved immediately. If I seem exasperated, I am!😩
Thanks.

I would be interested in hearing, especially from those who have done a Princess Panama Canal Cruise, how many people wear actual formal wear (i.e. tuxedos) on a 12-night Panama Canal full transit?
We have formal wear, and while it might be fun to wear it on the three formal nights, we would not want to do so if very few people actually do so.
Thanks for your thoughts.
I f you want to look that sharp, go for it! 👏
I plan to wear a tux for the Discovery Eclipse cruise.

One of my favorite items onboard is the egg muffin sandwich at IC!
It is better IMO than McD but not as good as the one at Starbucks. My estimation is one egg. If it means that much to you, I'd look online at the nutritionals for a McMuffin and the Starbucks version then average them. Likely a ballpark number.
The egg muffin sandwich at the IC is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had.

Not a sale but you could always get a new credit card with a nice sign-up bonus and use that to buy the giftcards.

My recent vegan dishes on Ruby Princess were hit and miss.
The area for most improvement was presentation. I also noticed that the tomato-based dishes all really tasted the same, so I’m guessing they used the same recipe for the sauces.
The tastiest dish was the soy maple portobello mushrooms…The worst dish, by taste, was the mushroom bourguignon..the mushrooms were under there somewhere, smothered in tomato sauce….
The walnut fettuccine turned out to be penne…
…and tasted a lot like the Pasta alla Norma…
The farfalle with tomatoes rang a bell…
The Buddha bowl with sweet potato was excellent….
….and the Baja cauliflower taco that was advertised as a “starter” dish filled the entire plate, but it was very good.
On our two-week cruise, the vegan menu was repeated twice, so I just started ordering the vegetarian dishes off the main menu on the second week, These dishes were much better, including presentation, but it’s still early in the vegan menu rollout so patience is warranted.
I am neither vegan or vegetarian but I will order the soy maple mushrooms! I love a good mushroom dish. Was that a main course or an appetizer! Please.
Thanks!

My DH and I are so easy to please when it comes to food. We never complain and we’ve never sent food back in thirty years of cruising. We’re not looking for haute cuisine, been there done that in our younger days.
We now appreciate being served a decent meal in a nice dining room being waited on by such hard working individuals who try so hard to make our cruise memorable. Is every meal perfect? Of course not, but we still enjoy ourselves.
It has been a while since our last cruise but it seems the talk was the same before. I think it is all part of the same syndrome of where people glorify things from when they were younger, cuter, had more hair, weighed less, etc.
The food is solid with a few standouts, the venue is simply glorious and the staff works their behinds off.

I have C1 shopping installed either as an extension or on my desktop and It flashed the rewards (different than ones i've seen for membership) $5 before I clicked in. I didn't see it track immediately so maybe you are right, it is just for gift cards. I thought all the rewards were gift cards so I assumed it was good. Hope nobody has been chasing it- I thought I was giving accurate info.
I do know if gift cards are excluded or not.
I used my Capital One offers for a renewal of my membership so the credit shows.
I might experiment with a $100 card.

Clicking thru Capital One Shopping had $5 cash back AARP rewards.
Is there an exclusion for gift cards?
Capital One Offers (versus Shopping) supposedly excludes gift cards.

Yes I do. It’s probably been removed temporarily in order to update it to include the new casual dining charges.
Thanks for confirming.

When I go to this link I don’t get a pdf, just a web page.
Any ideas for me please?
Thanks.

I found this a few days ago but now I am looking for it again and I can’t find it.
IIRC it was a pdf that covered all the ships and various venues.
Does anyone know what I am talking about please?
Thanks

I knew a lady who brought her own from home. I thought that was smart.
We haven’t taken them on a cruise yet but we have trays for travel.

Maybe I just missed in on the Specialty Dining page but what is it?
We want to book now but we are not sure my father-in-law will be coming with us.
Does anyone have a 100% concrete answer to this please?
Thanks.

I've been a member here for more than two decades, and this topic, "decline in the quality" of cruise food has been at the forefront during all of that time.
In the 60s-90s apparently, they served Maine lobster and Prime filets every night at no extra cost. 🤔
At some point in the future, our current situation will be fondly remembered at "the good old days"! 🙊
People are nostalgic for lots of things. I think they miss being young when they were thinner, cuter, had more hair, etc. This translates into everything being better when they were younger.

My lovely wife commented that we should bring some duct tape with us when our luggage gets old and battered in the far future.
But I was wondering, has anyone here ever asked a cabin steward or someone else for duct tape?
If you have actually done this I would love to hear about it.
Thanks.

Last December I had to cancel a cruise for a covered reason 7 days before sailing. I use an annual insurance plan from Allianz. They paid all the non-refunded costs in about 2 weeks. They never asked how I originally paid for anything. Gift cards did not matter.
The fine print of my Chase sapphire card says my trip is covered as long as I pay a portion of the costs with that card. Only rental cars require full payment with the sapphire card to be covered.
How much does that annual cost, please?
Thanks.

For those with their nose in the air about "Costco Water": Spring water is spring water.,
I love Costco products! It is just I am surprised they are using warehouse club bottled water instead of from some food supply company.

On the Sapphire Princess in Oct 2022, the shuttles did NOT run all night. They stopped at 10:30 p.m. and resumed at 7:00 a.m., according to the Patter. (I certainly was not awake that early to confirm the start time.) I have no idea how many passengers spent the night ashore, either partying or in a hotel. I'm sure at least a few passengers thought the shuttles ran all night and missed the last shuttle back!
I know one family that booked a hotel room for two days at the resort instead of paying day pass rates.
How long did it take to get to shoe, please?
Thanks.
