  1. Hi Stef,

Yeah, the links are bad for some of the early pics and most of Liverpool because I switched albums in Photobucket around that time and there's no way to go back and edit Cruise Critic threads. There should be a link at the bottom of each post with the full album, including the ones you can't see. They're all on Photobucket. :)

August 2014 will be here before you know it! You have lots of time to plan now!:D

We are planning a 2014 British Isles cruise, and have found your 'thesis' a wonderful help with our research! Thanks so much for posting this thread. :)

  2. Just back from a 10 day Mexico cruise. This was written in the Patter:

Please be reminded that only alcoholic regional souvenirs purchased during the course of the voyage or duty free from the ship's gift shop will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to the passenger's stateroom on the last day of the cruise. Any forms of alcohol outside these parameters will be destroyed, including open bottles.

Took this to mean that while in Mexico only Mexican (type or produced) alcohol is allowed to be taken on board, to be collected and then delivered the last day of the voyage. (Bold font added by me.)

  3. I've become accustomed to an occasional blip when using the Princess website. It's not always the same blip. This morning the main page was mostly white, and the plan a cruise was not working. However, I can access my cruise personalizer and my two booked cruises as well as my saved cruises.

  4. I have wondered why the Promenade deck (where people walk their mile (or more) a day is a smoking area. I don't smoke, but wish there was a nice, comfortable place (maybe one indoor and one outdoor) for smokers to enjoy their smokes without that confrontation issue. That being said, I do appreciate the smoke free staterooms and balconies.

  5. Sure missing Carol...and hope she is having a great time...looks like she will miss rain in each port by one day...hope it stays that way.

I do miss seeing Carol's posts. Hope she is enjoying her cruise. But of course she is, it's Carol we're talking about. :D

  6. Hola! I think those coastal cruises are repositionings of the ships and normally I cannot go because of my annual conference which is a bummer. However, there should also be the reverse in September with the ships leaving Alaska.

We did take the coastal on the Millennium last September, and loved it! :)

  7. I actually fell in love with Astoria seeing it in "Kindergarten Cop" and "Free Willy". So on our drive from Palo Alto, CA to Redmond, WA we had to stop there for lunch. DH at that point was fed up with the Oregonian drivers so he was not too happy and we went across the famous bridge; he thankfully turned around for me...it is so quaint!

We loved Astoria. The people were so friendly and they really welcomed the cruise ship with open arms.

On the subject of coastal cruises, I noticed that Celebrity has two in May of 2011. The Century has an 8 day from San Diego to Vancouver and the Millennium has a 10 day from San Diego to Vancouver. Both stop in Astoria. I might have to go again.

  8. Did you fly to Vanc? then fly home from San Pedro? we can probably rent a one-way from San Pedro if we were to do this - since they are taking out the RCCL ships, I am hoping they will keep this route cuz it sounds so ideal... I love Astoria! it reminds me of Lodi - we even went t the JC Penney and it was exactly how the one in Lodi was during the 50's and 60's (you are probably too young to remember) - carol

We flew to Vancouver and then home from LAX. I am not sure if they are going to have a 12 night cruise again. I think they are now 10 night. I don't know what port(s) they may have eliminated.

  9. Yes, messed up our CA Cruisers Group plans for our April 3 2011 cruise. We will reschedule and probably end up going on the Voyager out of Galveston - different route. Princess cancelled some sf cruises and also X is not sailing out of SF next yr - guess our left coast is not profitable enough for them - carol

We had plans to book one of the Princess cruises that was canceled. We really wanted to sail Celebrity from S.F. also. I do have the Galveston Western Caribbean on my 'future' cruises list. I just don't like flying if I can drive. (just lazy I guess)

  10. When is Bruce's b-day in NOv Nancy? I need to start keeping a record - altho' I have lots on my calendar already.

I am also a NOv birthday and always looking for a b-day twin.

The East Coast Gang is lining up a new X ship plan- it'll sail from Bayonne - Caribbean - I forgot the itny - but I'll look up what they wrote out. It'll be last two weeks of NOv 2011 so it's during Thanxg -

So there goes our discussion about NOT flying!! heehee!!

    carol

That would be wonderful if you can go too. =)

Carol, Bruce's b'day is the 6th. I have enjoyed my Celebrity cruises and I'd like to take more of them. I'd also like to cruise the Caribbean again. So far, it sounds like a win-win. Now, we need a 'Panama Canal" across the U.S. so we could sail instead of fly cross country. :D

  11. Thanks everyone for the words of support about my new computer and my decidedly limited tech ability. DS came by last night and 'fixed' the mouse/keyboard problem, but I still might buy a keyboard and mouse with a cord. Both of our sons recommended the Mac because of the limited virus problem with Apple products. Though the older I get the harder it is to learn new things. (especially in the tech field)

  12. Nancy...would be so much fun if you could join us for our April 3 cruise...here is wishing...no pressure tho'.

    Char

It would be just great!! it'll be a lot of fun!

But first, we need to figure out when we can get together for lunch - it'll have to be during the summer sometime.

I did book the upcoming Mariner cruise because a group of friends and neighbors were going, so I'm not afraid of going somewhere I've been many times before...so I haven't ruled out the April Mariner cruise completely. :)

I'm currently using the computer at our clubhouse because my new computer is misbehaving. DH bought the computer with two items I've always had trouble with - cordless keyboard and cordless mouse. And guess what? The mouse is not communicating with the keyboard. In the past I've had lots of communication problems with cordless keyboards and mice. I new I should have gone with him when he went to 'look' at computers. :(

  13. Nancy...do think about it...this will be a reunion cruise and you will definately fit in especially after you sail on her...then you would be officially a reunion cruiser. =)

    Char

I will definitely let you know if I decide to 'do' the April cruise. Right now we're looking at a cruise through the Panama Canal with some friends next year, so have to get together with them to decide when. :)

  14. Help! I am using our new Apple IMac for the first time! I haven't used an Apple product since our old Apple IIE. Our old Dell decided to commit suicide and our son talked DH into getting this IMac. I just need to get used to it...

On another note - we crazy folks just booked the Mariner for a cruise departing two weeks after we return from Mexico on the Sea Princess. I just couldn't wait to see the Mariner for myself. :D
