Sea Dream has fewer passengers (more expensive), very nice! Sometimes a better itinerary, we chose them for next Sept. because a stop Windstar does not make. Excellent wine on Sea Dream!

It will be a damp COLD!!! We live in NH and our first river cruise was on the Rhine, the damp cold is worse than the same temp in NH! Just bundle up with layers, gloves, scarves and hats.

In my opinion the best chocolate shop in Ghent is Chocolaterie Luc Van Hoorebeke 15 Sint-Baafsplein.

Good luck to you!

Waterproof shoes and a jacket most likely will be needed. Hats and gloves will help with a damp chill. I remember people from the south that did not understand the temperture tulips bloom, they were looking for gloves!

Ladyshopper23 "Thanks to everyone that answered about dinner, definitely helps.
Unfortunately we're one of those awkward couples, where we've both coeliac (gluten free) and I'm also vegetarian. We tend to like tables for 2 if possible - not because we don't want to speak to people, but just because it can feel a bit awkward having to talk about dietary restrictions when ordering food etc (I'm a lot more bothered about this than my husband is to be fair)."
Gluten free is no problem on Uniworld and I am a foodie! Because a lot of travel agents recommend river cruises for Coeliac passengers, we have randomly been seated with other GF passengers. I am gf (not my husband), I am taking my 10th Uniworld cruise in May.
I hope this helps.

I hope you can see two of my favorite museums, Museum Marmottan Monet, a little off the beaten path but a great museum. The second one is the Rodin Museum, I would love to see it when all the roses are in bloom. Have a great time!!!!

We normally to not need this on our trips but shoulder surgery earlier this month! I am not dealing with even light luggage on trains and buses in late April. Has anyone used a service in this area? I found this one online Aix-en-Provence Taxi Service and it would work for our two trips.
Thank you,

A few parts are uneven, wear good shoes. This picture is from May 2022 and I was thankful it was raining!
Correction: I was thankful it was not raining. If it was wet these rocks might be slick!!!!

JP,
Thank you I will contact Uniworld, the cruise start in Arles and we will be coming in from Marseille. The tricky part is getting back to Marseille to catch a train to Cannes for my 5 night cooking class. I also will start looking at ships locations when they start cruising in April.

We are on this cruise in April, I wonder if we can walk to the train stations in Arles and Lyon to where the ship docks?
Thank you,

Just make sure hair dryers, straightening irons, curling irons, etc. are dual voltage and you are good to go with just the plug adapter.

After walking around Gouda for several hours on uneven cobblestones and bricks, I decided to take the option that was offered to skip the tours in The Hague, and go back to the ship that was now docked in Rotterdam. @Second seating, the Christmas market was one of the places passengers could visit in The Hague. I believe the CD said yesterday was the last day of the market.
In Gouda we did a walking tour, had lunch, and sampled stroopwafels, cheese (of course!) , and olieballen.
This morning I opted for the trip to the Royal Delft Factory in Delft. It was interesting and a lot of fun. We toured the factory and then painted a tile that we took with us. Afterwards we were treated to a lunch of tomato soup, quiche, assorted sandwiches, and fruit. And of course shopping in the factory's gift shop.
Tonight there will be a briefing about another change to our itinerary due to not being able to dock in Ghent and having to proceed on to Antwerp. Again, if you're considering a river cruise, you've got to remain flexible. The ship is at the mercy of the wind and water levels.
Gouda and 'Delft are beautiful places!

Did you get to see the Royal Christmas Fair in the Hague? We were just there and it was very nice, very different than the German markets!!

Christmas cruises - how tough are they for a disabled cruiser?

You might try and limit your trip to a few locations,I have been on 4 Christmas market cruises plus many DYI trips. I loved Dresden (DYI including Berlin), not huge, stunning and mostly flat!!! Book a hotel on the square and you can easily return to your room as needed.
